I got excited when I saw 2 Crimson Guard 5 packs sitting on the shelf at a Toys R Us in Schaumburg, IL. I picked one up to find that some of the figures had been switched out with Fred, Destro, and Ace.

I then looked at the other one and saw that the same figures had been switched out with Fred, Destro, and Hawk/Ace custom.

I checked out the rest of the Joes and found comic pack Fred sitting in for Cobra Commander in Cobra SRO 3 pack.

I see this from time to time. Especially on battle packs here in Denver. I don't understand it. Its a cheapo collector not wanting to pay for the new trooper builders YET he spent the money for the figures he's switching them out for! Duh!!

Could be someone who works at that TRU and finds loose figures and other stolen/parts missing packs they have at that store. Maybe that GM of that store wants to impact their shrink number in a creative and very devious way!

Could also be a way someone is getting rid of theft items and making a profit on people who do not know better when they are returned to the store. I don't think the box says exaclty what comes in it, though I never really looked a troop box over that much in detail. I see tons of backing cards and blister bubbles sitting on shelves just about everywere I go in some cases just missing the figure and all the accessories are still there.

The thing I find the most confounding is that someone took the Cobra Commander out of the Ranking Officer 3-Pack, and didn't want the Trooper and Officer. No matter how many different ways I try to approach this, I cannot find a logical explanation. Well, maybe a scavenger hunt...

That SRO Cobra 3 pack is a strange repack. As has been pointed out, who would keep the Cobra Commander but return a troop builder? I have been contemplating picking up another 2 of these but the thought of two more Cobra Commanders has held me back. All 3 figures were removed at some point, the trooper is where the officer should be and vice versa. Also, I think the trooper is missing his gloves, although I don't have my SRO figures handy to verify this.

The trooper in the 3-pack didn't have gloves. That is why I prefer that particular Trooper to the one single carded.
