Anyone else in the fan community stockpiling the flame stand that came w/ one of the Boba Fett figures for their Cobra Jet Pack troopers?
Ever since I realized the flames that came w/ the convention JUMP 2pk, but been scouring different places for cheap Boba Fetts for the flames alone. So far I've got 3...not sure how many more I pickup but it makes the Jet Pack trooper look SO much better.

I've been mildly stocking up on them for about a year (Apparently very mildly as I only have two :) )
I was using them for Starduster and WORMS, but one of them is now on the Air Trooper :D
Here's WORMS:

I think it was Shogi that originally came up with the idea a few years ago (who says Hasbro doesn't read the boards? :)).
If not Shogi, it was initially a fan idea for sure, because I responded to the thread and ran out to find me that particular Boba Fett. Then I posted pics on one of the forums trying to promote the same accessory swap.
But Fett's really not that easy to find. So far, I've only scored one for my Starduster. :(

Wasn't me, I got the idea from someone else (Probably the same board/thread you saw it on :) ) Luckaly I was a Fett fan and already had that figure when I found out about it

A guy over at JC, also suggested using the flames from the TAC R2D2, for those who can't find Fett. The R2's are peg warming like crazy now. The Flames give a good variation, but u do have to cut the R2 at the pegs that connect the figure to the flames, otherwiae u won't get a good fit.

Has anyone actually tried that yet? It looks like it wouldn't cross over very well because a Joe fig is taller than R2. Good for the droid, but not enough "lift" for the taller figure.
Post pics if you got 'em.

as popular as this is becoming, I'm surprised no one has made a repro or custom mold yet

Here's what Alyosha, who does some good casted & custom parts had to say,
I've already checked it out (I have four copies of the piece) and due to the large amount of resin that these would necessitate they would have to sell for around $10 each. Not to mention that they would only be one color (trans orange or red or yellow), so if that's all stuff you can live with then I'd do it.

yeah, guess I'll be hitting ebay for mine then :) (If I knew how to cast items I'd probably do it for myself)
Maybe Hasbro could make an accessory pack that includes a Jump jet and flames?

For those who don't have one yet, though, there's an attachment piece on each side of R2, so you can still have a mostly intact figure when you're done. It will snap off both sides, so you don't actually have to break the figure. They might make for neat Halloween surprises, or something.

Thats actually a great idea on both accounts. I'm not into SW as I was when I was younger. But are these TAC R2D2 or Fett still in stores? Are these hard to come by? I'll probably get two for my Cobra guys..
Anyone have a pic of the fett and R2 used with the card still intact. I'll probably notice it in the stores if I find one but want to know what I'll be looking for.

This (http://www.rebelscum.com/sw0308bobafettpoc.asp) is the first release of the Boba Fett figure from 2003. It was released again last year, as seen here (http://www.rebelscum.com/TSC006bobafett.asp). The R2-D2 (http://www.rebelscum.com/TAC04r2d2.asp) is from the first wave of 30th Anniversary figures. There's also an R2-D2 from the Saga Legends collection, and those figures are on similar cards, so be sure the flame exhaust effect you want is in the package before you buy the figure.

Sweet! Those R2-D2's are peg warmers all over the Walmarts in my location. Ill have to pick some up.

I should also add that some stores do still have old Saga figures from 2006, so if you see some hanging on the pegs, it wouldn't hurt to flip through them. You may stumble upon one of those Fetts.

Cool! Glad you were able to get some.
For anyone else who's thinking of going this route, you can use this picture (http://www.compulsivecollector.com/images/r2-pieces.jpg) (original photo courtesy of rebelscum) as a guide for where to start your cutting on the removable pieces. Once you cut near those lines, it's just a matter of slightly trimming down the "silver" portions so they will fit snugly into the "exhaust" holes of the jet pack.

thanks guys.... .I just read this post, and had been wanting to do it, but lazy to search for the post....Once I read it, I realized that my wife had briefly started collecting Star Wars for my son (he is only 9mnths) so I dug into them and behold we had one... so I figured I will get him more later >) and get my Jet Troopers of the Ground....they look great...

I used the R2-D2 flames too. I did one better. The flames come straight out the jet pack for accurate appearence.

I actually like it better with the blue coming directly out of the pack. I like the spread out look, too, as opposed to the flames going straight down after the base has been cut.
kimiyo
02-08-2008, 10:40 AM
Yes the spread out looks cool, But I'm crazy for accuracy and the spread out flames could never lift him off the ground. iIn fact it would shoot him up and over into the ground. That would be a good thing for the Joes. Makes their job easier if cobra takes themselves out.

Derek2783 they definitely do look better. I unfortunately was never able to find the Fetts flames, so I had to settle for R2-D2's
