She's done work in some good movies. Think can give her a mulligan for RoC.
This is asinine.
Why is she to blame? Because she took orders from the director? And in what way is she to blame? Because of the camo? The Doctor? What?
I think Rex looked great, despite the wig coming off. I think the Vipers looked great in the movie, too, for what they were. That first action sequence at night looked great.
Admittedly, there was a lot of silliness (Snake Eyes' lips) but we don't know who gave the direction for those things. She shares in the blame, perhaps, but ultimately design choices in RoC, much like the script and action sequences, were misguided, that's all.

What would you like us to do? Gather pitchforks and torches and go to her home demanding her head?
I think it's time to let it go.

She was told what to design. I read somewhere that prior to the GI Joe: ROC, Stephen Sommers was wanting to make a movie called "Accelerator". Wanna guess what it is about? So they tied that stupid thing into ROC. So I am thinking that she already had the concepts for Accelerator and was adapted for ROC.

Geez...
If she's the one, i'd like to thank her for Reactive Impact Armor, Baroness's outfit, Storm Shadow's look, Rex's outfit, etc...
Some of us LIKED the RoC stylings. I'm glad they are moving away from it with the sequel, so we can have ANOTHER UNIQUE LINE OF FIGURES. Change is nice. Because if you don't like it, it will change again, into something you may like. But if it never changes, it's boring.
Failed costume choices fall at the feet of Sommer, as does stiff performances by a certain actor whose name has inspired many a thread. Too many I say. Sommers is head man in charge and has final say. I'll prefer to keep my torches and pitchforks in storage for now.

Seems like I heard this somewhere also.
RoC wasn't that bad! Sure, it wasn't great, but I didn't mind the costumes and such. Give this lady a break. And like Kneroh said, let it go. We're moving on. Retaliation is only 198 days away!

I love the Reactive Impact Armor. It doesn't look as good with arms/legs/chest, but using just pieces looks pretty cool.
RoC Shipwreck with the pants and RIA chest was cool.
Jungle Assault Duke with the RIA chest was cool.
Scarlett in Operation: Hiss had RIA chest and camo pants and that was a bad-ass look.

It's still up to the director and producers to use her designs. They could have also told her to get the F out of here with this crap and fired her if they thought she did a bad job. She probably came up with several different options and the people in charge chose the ones they did.

No need, the blame falls clearly on Jimmy Bonnaceventura the producer who spent Hasbro's/Paramount's money then next in line is Stephen Sommers for his lack of faith which was indeed disturbing, then so on and so forth down the chain of command to allow this monstrisity to hit theaters. They should have just waited till after the writers strike instead of forcing something that was just not ready to be...but soon John Chu's reimaging will take it's place and hopefully can move on like the first Hulk movie...may its soul never rest in peace...

Another stupid, pointless jab at ROC. Get over yourself. And stop wasting threads for this.

This will be my default post for all the countless Channing Tatum / Duke thread we've gotten and willl have until Retaliation opens.

How dare you start this thread. Don't you know that the costume designer has nothing to do with the costumes? lol. Get over yourself and move on. Ain't that great feedback?
In all seriousness, thanks for the thread. It's interesting to me that sommers might not hold all of the blame. Still, I'll say he gets the lion's share in my opinion.
Oh, and move on? Get over yourself? lol.

So I guess you just learned that more than one person works on a movie? That is really interesting.

I liked a lot of the RoC designs. They gave us some very cool action figures that may not be "our" Joes but can easily fit into anyone's "Joe-verse" as a separate faction (or factions if you include the bad guys).
The Reactive Impact Armor looked cool on the figures, both in complete suits and partials. And yes, I thought even the accelerator suits made for some cool action figures.
Paris Pursuit Snake-Eyes was aces. Simple but very effective.
Elite Vipers were pretty cool...not as much the rest of the Vipers, still, I got lots of use out of them and the RoC Cobra Commander as "Dr. Venom Reborn" and leading his own new sub-faction of Cobra.
As I hinted at above: I know a lot of people didn't like the Joes' camo, but I really dug it because it made it easy to define this as a "new" faction in my Joe-verse. The only guy that became a problem was Snake-Eyes and well...thankfully he was the one that wasn't in the blue camo, so...it all worked out pretty well, I'd say.

This. I just didn't like the predominant black schemes and had wished they introduced a little more green instead of blue.

I loved the RIA.
I loved the Doctor's mask/outfit.
I loved the Cobra (or rather MARS) Neo-Vipers.
I loved Storm Shadow's outfit.
And I'm one of the few who loved CC's mask/helmet.
It was different. Different is refreshing and brings something new to the table. Just like the stuff in Retaliation is new and refreshing (personally I love Snake Eyes' new look). People need to calm down.
By the way, what exactly is the point of this thread? Just posting her IMDB page for no reason?

I think we also have to remember that a lot of the figures didn't get the designs right. For example, the paris pursuit SE was very inaccurate to the scene. The Turtle Vipers didn't look bad on screen but when scaled down, some of the features were out of balance and made them look ridiculous.

Different is great, but don't JUST TO BE different or be sooo different to such a degree that you become X-men or James Bond...or in many cases Star Wras...the X-wings (polar sharcs) attack the death star (stupid underwater base with pulse action photon cannon under the ice cap)...

I glad I'm not the only one. The RIA suits led me to incorporate the Tron: Legacy figures as Cobra's version of power suits.
But as was pointed out previously, when scaled down to 3.75" some of the designs looked aweful (Neo Vipers and CC helmet for instance).
