In 1998 when the original teaser for STAR WARS: EPISODE 1 hit, there were widespread reports of people paying full price to whatever movie it was in front of and walking out afterwards and getting refunds. Got to the point where theaters started refusing any refunds to those movies.
Fast forward to 2011 and here comes the trailer for GI JOE: RETALIATION. With the hype and reported excitement from those who have already seen it, to me this is starting to feel like our Episode 1 Trailer moment (only without the option for a refund-scheme). We are getting excited over 2+ minutes of badassery because we (or at the very least I) have faith that this will be the film franchise's redemption, a la WRATH OF KHAN.
Am I wrong or am I wrong?

Hmmm... Interesting! I just hope history doesn't repeat itself a la Jar Jar Binks, too.

So long as Wayans is no where NEAR a piece of film, I think we're safe.

God I hope this movie is good! I have waited since 1983 for a good live-action G.I.Joe film. Will this be it?

In the car on the way home I was silent for a good ten minutes before I turned to my wife and told her that she would never have to worry about getting that movie for me in any shape or form. I am hoping #2 will be our "KHAN" compared to the dismal first entry.

Ahhhhhhh, no.
We waited what, 15 or 16 years for a new Star Wars film......ROC was only a couple of years ago.
Believe me, I'm excited for Joe 2.....but I seriously doubt that the trailer will run cold shivers up my spine like the Ep I trailer did.....but maybe it'll run Cold Slithers.......

Gimme a break! People went nuts over the Episode I trailer was because we had to wait a bajillion years & we never thought we would ever see a movie made about Episode I. We always knew there was going to be a second GI Joe movie.
There's no comparison.
And I'm pretty sure nobody gives a shit about GI Joe 2 other than the hardcore fans on sites like this. I'm not excited about it at all, I don't know enough about it to get excited.

I'm really excited for Retaliation, and I do believe it will be good, but in not forking over money to go see some movie just for a trailer. I'll just fork over money to go see Retaliation. Just over 6 months away!
Damn the first one sucked so bad.
II was worse. Waaaaay worse.

The way I figure it... It cant be any worse than Ep 1 or ROC. I think it has that much going for it. But in the long run I think it will be our saving grace and with any luck the reboot of Joedome on earth that we so deparately need.

Why would anyone pay to another movie just for the Preview of another? I kinda understand with Episode I cause, well, it's Star Wars and meant to be seen on a big screen and the wait and not dreaming it would ever happen (part of me now wishes he never did that trilogy but that's for another discussion) but for Retaliation??? No way! I'll watch the bootleg version a day before it even hits the theatre, gotta love the internet! I am psyched for the movie because it has Bruce Willis and the Rock so for that combined with it looks like they are trying to reboot the story/characters/plot to be a bit more in line with what us hardcore fans want I will probably actually watch this one (never saw ROC and never plan on it).

^ yes. Sad to see all my childhood toys and cartoons making a comeback but G.I. Joe, my personal favorite barely having any isle space at stores and unknown name in the public eye.

Really? You created a thread to help generate more doubt. Regardless of how pleased people may be with the trailer or any other set images or publicity pics, either Retaliation will do well or it won't. Let the people decide if they should disappointed or even the movie without you trying plant thoughts. Or better yet, instead of creating a thread for it, couldn't you have commented under the front paged thread?

Getting really excited about Retaliation and I wish it's a big hit for the franchise. I hope it meets the expectations of die hard Joedom. But as the saying goes ,
"Fool me once..."
Meet Joe Black wasn't so bad a movie to walk out and get a refund for.
