Well basically you are on the run from the mob and decide to join a race that pays 25 million to the winner. The rave is from LA to New York. Why are you on the run? It never says. Where did your friend get 250 grand to enter you in the race? Nobody knows. The story is atrocious and makes no sense at all. However the racing is pretty good. There's a nice mix if cars, everything from muscle cars to imports to exotics. The problem is you can only switch cars at gas stations, which are few and far between. So say you're on a straight line course, you take out an exotic for top speed. Well next stage us twists and turns on a dirt road . But there's no gas stations so you're stuck. Then there's the restart system. When you wreck it resets you to your last checkpoint. Problem is if you go off track just the slightest it resets you. So you come up on 2 lanes of traffic and try to go around then only to be reset for going in the grass, essentially meaning you have to wreck your way through, which slows you down. The cars look pretty good. They all handle slightly different but this us more arcade than simulator. The backgrounds are beautiful. One second your dodging storms in tornado alley, then outrunning avalanches in Denver, then driving under the bright lights of Vegas. Overall the game has its glitches but is still fun to play. Probably more of a renter if you don't plan on playing online (story mode takes less than 3 hours to complete). But there's police chases awesome environments and plenty of diverse races to keep you busy. I'd give it about a 7 out of 10. Not great but at least it's fun.

I stopped with the NFS after the last one. The open world racing of the one before was a lot of fun- but then it went back to a story mode that you couldn't really alter. this one sounds like it's still that way.
