View Full Version : Snake Eyes With Parka G.I. Joe Modern ERA Review

Snake-Eyes is based on his appearance from the end of the Marvel GI Joe comic #2. The head is the same one we've seen multiple times but everything else is brand new. The entire sculpt is a very impressive one that thankfully isn't just a repainted Snow Job. However, looking at the flat area on the left arm I would guess that this sculpt will be used for a Snow Serpent later on.
The accessories are very cool here too. The Snowshoes slip on like sandals and have holes in the bottom of them so they can be worn while on the stand. As an extra bonus, the backpack has two pegs on it where you can store the snowshoes. Snake-Eyes comes with the Skull Necklace Kwinn leaves for him in the comic. The necklace is removable but it takes a little effort to do so. Snake-Eyes also has a removable Ammo Harness, Uzi, Backpack, Spiked Snowshoes, Sword and GI Joe Stand
The only complaint on this awesome figure is that the jacket skirt that hangs over the waist restricts leg movement a lot. This Snake-Eyes won't be able to sit down at the campfire anytime soon. Other than that, this is another great Snake-Eyes figure with an all new sculpt that brings to life one of the scenes from the first GI Joe comic I remember ever reading.
Figure Rating: 9 out of 10

i bought that figure the other day too at my local walmart. but why does have a gun and not two swords. snake eyes is such a skilled warrior he doesn't need a gun. still all and all a pretty cool figure except for lack of leg movement due to the jacket skirt.

Well this was back in the days when Snake-Eyes was still just a commando in the military and no one in the military went in with just swords. :)

If you pop the head and necklace off and pop on Destro's head, looks like a good artic gear outfit for him, and I added a Duke bandolier for extra, looks allright.

thats right everybody in the military in the day had a gun but still snake eyes could take out his enemy with just a finger if he had too.

finally found this figure over the weekend. My only complaint is that there is not a place to stash the sword on the backpack.

Its because in the comic that this figure is derived from, Snake Eyes only used an uzi. He actually didn't have a sword in that issue, and his ties to the Arashikage weren't even revealed til 20+ issues later. I mention this because an Arashikage symbol is on the sword.

This figure is elusive in my neck of the woods, and I finally traded for one. I can't wait till it gets here.

Snake-Eyes was originally conceived as a Commando who would just carry an uzi and a pack of explosives. He would be the guy that snuck in places and took people out without a sound (unless he used his explosives) but as time went on that role evolved into a Ninja. Ninja's were wildly popular in the 80's which made that evolution natural from a marketing standpoint.
What would be interesting is if ninja's weren't popular then and Snake-Eyes remained a hard core commando. Imagine how different G.I. Joe would be today. :)

was this review written a while ago Shogi? cuz we know now that 3/4 of ArcticSnake-Eyes was design for Snow Serpent (i think this was a case were SE became a pre-paint). regardless, an amazing figure that is nearly impossible to tell shares parts with SS. also upcoming as the arctic Tele-Viper...

Aren't they doing a Kwinn?
Does anyone know if it will be Arctic (#2) or later version (Khaki, as worn in Sierra Gordo)?

I thought they said they weren't going to do a Kwinn.
This is one of my favorite figures so far. Good review.

Actually it was recently written but I wanted to write it as if I had just gotten the figure for the first time. The part about the arm was what I thought when I got this figure but before we saw any pics of Snow Serpent.
I may try to do this with older figures as we go on. So there won't be any mention of all the multiple Duke repaints when the first one is finally reviewed. I feel this is best in trying to objectively view the figures (Which is fraking hard to do! Especially since I'm not a big fan of some stuff like Python Patrol in general :) )

this figure is currently the "kingpin" of my collection...so i guess that makes him my favorite.

I passed this guy up SO MANY TIMES! Finally bought him the other day because it looked like the necklace would be removable, and it was! I was completely turned off by the skull necklace since it seemed to make no sense and have nothing to do with anything.
Once the necklace was off, he became one of my favorite figures!

it was a huge part of the comic story that the figure is based on.

read Marvel G.I. Joe #2 to understand the significance of the skull necklace.

Yeah,
after I read the review I realized this. I'll have to check that out. Never read the comic as a kid, just watched the cartoon.

A Kwinn to go with this would be nice.

I loved this figure. A lot of effort went into what could have been just another Snake Eyes knock off. Any ideas on what I can do with the extra Snake Eyes w/Parka that comes in Wave 10?

I passed this one up 1 time because the paint apps were sloppy, and I regretted it. The 2nd time I saw this one, I bought 2, then another 2.. so now I have 3 mosc and 1 loose. Now hasbro just needs to make more Arctic figures. I want to see all the Joes & Cobras in parkas. BUT they have to be able to sit in vehicles!! That one drawback is the only thing keeping this one from being my favorite.

A great figure and a great review. Glad I was fortunate enough to get this at retail, as it seems he was a little hard to find.
By the way, the third pic on the second row is how I have mine posed. You copy cat, you! :D

Sweet sweet figure. One of my absolute favorites since Hasbro started remaking the Joes.

I hope they decide on a Kwinn. I can see that between the size and the attire it would be a lot of parts they could only make for one figure. But they could package the Browning 30 Cal with something else, possibly.

anyone know if they are going to make a Kwinn... Crazy to tempt us with the skull necklace and then give us 5 more crap repaints or python patrol versions of everyone.
