I am literally stunned that they did not sculpt a new head.

She looks good. No real surprise on the parts used, but overall I think this is the best fig yet. I just wish the hair was a little darker, but that's really a minor complaint.

I'm trying to figure out why I'm not interested in this figure. I think ultimately I just didn't care about having a Covergirl, though the tooling they used doesn't impress me much either.

As I said in the other thread that the hair is off, which I can fix. But the more I look at that face the more I dislike it. Oh well I'm getting it either way and will modify as needed.

I think the Club did a fantastic job, she looks exactly how I thought she would parts wise. This is the best version of Covergirl since the comic pack.
The original Cover girl had brown hair in the comic and the toy line. The cartoon version had blonde hair, why are some of these people demanding red hair?
MJjoe4life

It is funny to see people on here that still dont know that hasbro and GIJCC are two seperate companies. That the club is producing these figures not hasbro.

Maybe the 13th figure is the brunette Cover Girl?

I really want to be excited about these figures but well... The amount of money that is needed to obtain them makes me feel something more should come out of these.
Covergirl looks good but honestly, 25 dollars good? Man, seeing this makes me really appreciate the customs here on the tank. I'd pay $25 bucks a figure for that one guys "Battle ready Tomax and Xamot".. Figures like TNT and Surefire just seem kinda like figures made to "fill space".
Anyway, I still may get them just to have them because I have OCD about joe figs.
***Edit, looking back on her now I have to say out of all of these subscription figs, she is one of the better ones due to her looking similar to the original.

So, no real surprise here except the blonde hair. That is good and bad. Glad they made it, but sad it looks like 25 of the customs here on the Tank. While they are all pretty good or great customs--it's just been there done that before the figure even comes out. That said, I still want 2. :)

If you just need the body go to Marshalls/TJ Maxx and save yourself some cash. You could probably buy 20 RoC Scarletts and Covergirls (the figures they used to kitbash this one) for the amount of money you would spend on this.

Do to the excitement behind releasing this figure, how long fans have been asking for it and how the club just gave us the Sparta figure in last years con set I sort of expected them to do something to set this figure further apart from Sparta.

I actually really want to subscribe to the Club sub. This isn't going to sway me either way. However this is a lazy figure. Sure we expect to see basic repaints and parts swaps but do we really need this after Sparta? Seriously people bitch so much about repaints but then praise this figure? Doesn't make sense. Really wanted them to at least try a little on the figure. Would have much rather seen a modern take on her.

Sounds to me like you take your own opinions as facts a bit...
My main issue is I just don't like how the mold looks, but also find 100% (or in this case, 90%) accurate updates boring. I prefer figures like the Barrel Roll they're offering to this one, because he looks a little more different. Could be a side effect of collecting both new and old figures, is that I want my new figures to look a lot different to older ones I still buy.
But to each their own I guess.

Actually, I think it is lady jaye's torso. Her zipper was down lower and had more cleavage. Also, her hair is more red or strawberry blonde. The original had auburn and the 2006 DTC had red. I think it is great. Right outta the park

I figured this would be the last of the 12 we would see. Still the figure is pretty much what I expected but was hoping for a new head sculpt. I can always use another head and some green paint apps on the boots. I used the pilot Scarlett head for my custom Cover Girl. I prefer the short haired version circa 1983. I'm guessing that vest is from the DTC Cover Girl from a few years back? I'm still weighing the value of the subscription here I only want a few of the figures. Any chance the thirteenth figure is one that we really want? Cross Country? Iceberg? or will it be Tan Clutch? Any word on what it might be?

I was gonna possibly get 2 subs so I was sure I got doubles of the ones I wanted, but I think I'll be happy with 1 of each. 1 of my customs pretty much already looks like this so Covergirl can stay carded.
Only 1 sub for me, and honestly that is sort of begrudgingly as I only want about half of them, and have no clue on the 13th. It's a smart way to sell the sub I have to admit.

Really...really...best club figure you've seen? I've seen customs that are 1,000,000 times better than this, that blowing wind hair alone takes the whole figue down, at least give us a better hairstyle close to what she had in her first comic appearance.

I’m glad that this figure is finally being remade. Can’t really tell with certainty from the photo, but it looks like the club accurately copied the 104th Infantry Division Timberwolf on the figure’s left sleeve. This version of Cover Girl lives up to the battle slogan “Nothing in hell must stop the Timberwolves”.
RALLY THE PACK
From way up north in Oregon to
Southlands far away,
We've moved across the desert sands
a-fighting all the way.
We'll climb the highest mountains in
any state or land.
We will swing along by combat-team
a-fighting hand to hand.
CHORUS:
Oh, this is our night to howl boys,
just follow us with will,
The Timberwolves are on the prowl,
we're closing in to kill.
We're a helluva gang to fight with,
just follow us and see,
The 104th will lead the way from hell
to victory.
Okay. I admit it. This one has always been among my favorite characters on the G.I. Joe team.

Unfortunately, this question is asked in every sub thread so that is why you got a smart assed reply.

I really wish they had given her 25th Ann. General Hawk's jacketed arms- the ROC Scarlett's are too spindly and his arms aren't too big to look out of scale on a female fig. Otherwise, I like. Cool to see that great hair sculpt in blonde. Would've been cool to get a new head sculpt but I was not expecting that.
Minor quibbles- I would've liked the olive green vertical stripe on the boots added on, and the belt to have been in matching green. And I would've preferred the 25th Ann. single carded Lady Jaye's cleavage-bearing upper torso over the more modest ROC Scarlett's. Helix's upper legs would've given us the thigh straps from the original and would've added to the overall visual interest. But these are minor quibbles- I look forward to this figure!

the ROC Hawk has some strange shoulder joints that likely wouldn't have worked on a this figure.
Kind of disappointed that Hasbro has no interest in giving us a classic reissue of Cover Girl. I was expecting something more, really. However, this is better than nothing. And thanks a lot to the club for making it possible considering their limited resources.
Guys, I just don't know. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Cover Girl eventually have short 'red hair' in the original ARAH cartoons?
I'm not too thrilled about the figure subscription. If it's too expensive, I might have to pass. I really haven't seen anything to compel me to drop $200 on this.

I honestly don't understand what people were expecting from this figure. The club already made Sparta who was pretty much Cover Girl without a jacket. So they added the jacket.
I'm not really sure what color the hair is. It kinda looks blond, but could definitely be darker than it appears. I would guess that they tried to go in between blond and auburn, but particularly steering away from red.
Another thing evidentally people don't understand is that the club doesn't have the option to go through Hasbro's entire parts library to assemble these figures from. So no Lady Jaye torso, Hawk arms etc etc. Hasbro utilizes several factories, and the entire library of molds is not maintained at each factory. So if most of a figure is coming from one factory, then the remaining parts generally have to be sourced from the molds that are available at that factory. No idea how difficult or expensive it is to ship molds around, or if they may be cross-compatible with different equipment at different factories.
So hence Sparta/Covergirl is basically a repaint ROC Scarlet, and Topside is basically a complete repaint 09 Shippy, rather than more parts swapping. Same situation with alot of the Hasbro figures.
Probably also has alot to do with why some parts have multiple molds with distinctive casting differences.

Pretty much the truth, half the time this place seems like a venting ground for people that need a psychiatrist..... But if people can't afford the club fee then there's no way in hell they can afford a psychiatrist. So the nextbest thing to do is bitch about toys.

I was looking forward to this one. I expected the repainted body, but I did think like Kneroh said we'd get a new head or at least new hair or something. For the club taking crap about $25 repaints this figure doesn't help.
Also, if this figure was too close to the Sparta release and Surefire was to close to the Law n Order release to be in his more popular blue color, then why didn't they hold them for a future wave (assuming there will be since they have already started a fun poll)?? Just saying...
This whole series could have been really great instead we have mostly seen decent and okay.

Info and price on the subscription has not been revealed yet. It is supposedly being revealed after the next figure in the sub.
Unfortunately, this question is asked in every sub thread so that is why you got a smart assed reply.
Ahhh... Thank you. For the clarification on both.
Given the info from Deftones, I'm afraid at what the cost will be, lump or broken up. Maybe there will be more payment options, or like an automatic deduction set up or something.

she was shown with short red hair in the cartoon
Except for the first time when she showed up with long, blonde hair
Figurewise, the hair looks orange but looking at the rest of the picture, it also looks like there's a harsh light on it that can make colors appear lighter than they actually are

I was looking forward to this one. I expected the repainted body, but I did think like Kneroh said we'd get a new head or at least new hair or something. For the club taking crap about $25 repaints this figure doesn't help.

off topic but to one of your points. the Law and Order really doesn't have much blue on him other than his vest, so I don't buy how Sure-Fire's clothing being blue and with a black vest would somehow be an issue of the figures being similar. did the Club specifically say they had to keep him from resembling Law or simply state that they had to keep him from resembling another figure in general? because the Law excuse doesn't seem realistic.

On their FB page they said the blue color scheme would be too similar to Law
To me it shouldn't matter. One is mass retail and one is not, but they did say that so...

Red hair?
Long hair?
Short hair?
Really? I would bet that if there was absolutely no name on the figure stand and the figure was shown to ANYBODY who collects Joe.... they would all know, without a doubt that the figure is Covergirl. That alone should clearly show that the club designed a winning fig for the Subscription. Now Barrelroll or Surefire, not quite that clear by design, at least in my opinion.

Sometimes I wish people would all have the same opinion and personal tastes so there would be no reason to have a message board at all. I wish we could all feel the same and there was no dissenting opinion. I wish people were always 95% happy with what we got from the club and Hasbro. That way there would be room for improvement, but not enough dissatisfaction to be sad or upset.
I also like when people complain about people complaining.

I like it. Of course I am in the minority, but I swear the people on this forum are only here to complain about "official" figures because they have already made much better customs of everything.
I complain(ed) about the subscription figures because we all know Hasbro can do a lot better than what they have revealed so far and they have shown us what they can do with POC and HOH. And this being a subscription service, there is no doubt that they would want premium prices for them.
I mean how many of us drooled when we first saw pictures of POC and 30th Anniversary figures. And from what I am reading at the Tank, the subscription figures are no where near getting the same reaction from people in the Tank.

30th is kinda done at this point (we already know what we have left and thats it), and we all know what Retalation has instore for us since its a continuation of ROC (Duke + Snake Eyes + Storm Shadow in every costum x50 oh my!)...so you probabley be waiting along time before you find anymore figures until next season sub figures are shown...and that is if they even get to do this again given all the bad press the initial run is getting at this point....it won't survive without support and fan investment and this was an expensive bet they took to even get these figures out with any semblance of "new"....

I like it, I think she looks pretty good. She looks a lot like her IDW incarnation, and after seeing her rock house in some of those issues, I'm definitely up for a Cover Girl figure.
Interesting that the messageboard reaction has been quite mixed. Maybe my standards are lower than others, but I haven't found a lot of female figures that I think are knockout awesome. The 5-pack 25th Lady Jaye is pretty good, and I like Barris Offee from the Star Wars vintage line, but I haven't seen many other female action figures that I like a lot. This one looks pretty solid in my opnion. Still debating whether to get 1 or 2 subscriptions, we'll see what the price is. I'm expecting around $250 before shipping.

Most likely, parts from figures from licensed toy lines can't be used for anything other then that toy line. For example, Hasbro can use GI Joe parts in other toylines, but not the other way around.
Secondly, just because two parts look good together, it doesn't mean that it is realistic to produce a figure using them. The mold for the Storm figure's vest could be in a completely different city from the mold for the body they used. Also, there are parts of bodies that are in the same mold, so if you want to use one part, you have to use the other as well. Otherwise you would have to throw away a bunch of pieces that you molded, but didn't use.

I'm VERY happy with this Cover Girl, THANKS CLUB!! So happy she is blonde... she's definitely one of the BEST! Love her!!
These are good observations.
People also have to realize that Hasbro wants the CLUB to get Mileage from the molds they use, so I'm sure Sparta (red-head) & Cover Girl (blonde) were designed at the same time as the Club knew full well to make one they had to make the other as they probably had to find a way to use this retooled head mold twice, same goes for Claymore/Footloose (IF Claymore's head was not outsourced) as well as any Troop builder, Hasbro wants the Club to get the most of a few molds & not be using a LOT of molds (extra expense for everyone). So They made the less desired character (Sparta) first. I personally would hate having CG be a red head when Sparta already is (not to mention Scarlett is the Joe teams 1st lady & is the signature red head in Joe).
AND CG is blonde in all current media BUT Resolute (IDW, ROC, Renegades, etc) & is also a classic Mass Device ARAH nod.
Not to mention when the term Cover Girl is used most people will think of the classic blonde model types associated with the stereotype name that still runs today. With that said, a ME Cover Girl should be blonde.

The head (on Sparta at least) does sit a little too low. It's not terrible or anything, but it is a bit annoying. That's my only real complaint with the figure.

This is exactly what I thought the club would do. This FSS is hit or miss to me with more misses than hits. I know this is their first run at this sort of thing, so I won't give them too much grief at this time. However, my subscribing will probably hinge on the next reveal.
Big Boa was one of my favorite cobras I had as a kid. He along with Road Pig was used by me to kick the hell out of the Joe's. So since I started buying ME sculpt Joe's I have wanted him released with the ME sculpt. I hope the club hits a homerun on him, because with Road Pig coming out and looking good Big Boa needs to be every bit his equal.

Cover Girl is pretty boring, IMO, and unless they're saving the best for last with Big Boa and the 13th fig, I'm 99.9% definitely not getting these. Given the dearth of female characters...if you were ever going to use a custom headsculpt, it would've been for her.

The hairpiece, while a fantastic sculpt, becomes less fantastic each time it is used on a new figure. It loved it on RAH Cover Girl, it looks nice on Sparta too....but here it is again! I can live with that since they atleast have different coloured hair...I just hope they lose the mould after this.
Big thanks to the Club for their efforts & best of luck with the sub. I'm still not 100% sure yet. Mainly for financial reasons. Hoping the Joe sub payments won't be coming out the same time as Mattels subs, which is the 10th I think.

But the problem comes about with how many will be made.
The less you make of an item, the higher the price. Most everything the club makes is less produced than a retail item and the subscription figures sound like they'll be even less produced than regular club items. Hence the higher than retail price for "repaints"

My guess is that the club already had Covergirl in mind for the sub when they made Sparta.

If I get this one (I have decided the Sub is out for me, too many figures I have Zero Interest in) I'll have to get the DTC Comic Pack Version and mod the head to put on this body.
Was hoping to see something more classic, with new tooling. More like this:

Ditto. But you are, apparently, in the vocal minority.
But the problem comes about with how many will be made.
The less you make of an item, the higher the price. Most everything the club makes is less produced than a retail item and the subscription figures sound like they'll be even less produced than regular club items. Hence the higher than retail price for "repaints"
Don't bother. We keep telling him, but he ain't listening. :D

You know I can't confirm nor deny who is being revealed later this week, what he comes with or how awesome he is... Ok. I can say that. He is awesome!
I am inclined to believe this.
You know what, screw it. Topside gets a new head sculpt, but Cover Girl doesn't?
There. I feel better.

I give credit to the collector's club for creating nostalgic characters that "we" might enjoy. Though I think Sure Fire is more of a a narcissistic homage than anything else IMO...
To the chase:
Covergirl looks ok... B-/C+...... But they could have at least done a little more tooling to that face sculpt... She's not a perfect homage to CG. I've manipulated the original photo, and set her hair in a better place. I think this simple adjustment makes the figure 5x better. check it out..

My only complaints:
She looks a little bloated, meaning, she may be on her period. So she's just going to be fucking cranky all the damn time.
And her tits aren't perky.
And it looks like she's sporting a major camel-toe. But that wouldn't be a complaint.

The way I see it is it is what it needs to be, and I'm cool with it, and I actually dig the Strawberry Blonde hair color. It looks like ROC Covergirl called Jenny Craig and went back to boot camp... Or at least had some facial reconstruction done, like most models do.

I'm not going to call out anyone in particular, but if you can honestly find something to complain about with this figure, you've never planned on subscribing in the first place and are just looking to give excuses not to. That's fine, but don't pretend this is anything other than a pretty awesome figure.
Thank you for informing me of my opinion. I'd be lost without you.
P.S. Careful that horse you're on doesn't buck... it's a long way down.
Is it just the angle of the pic or does the head sit too far down? Looks like she's got no neck at all.
It's migrated to her fivehead and manjaw. http://s70.photobucket.com/albums/i116/hellion42/smilies/drum.gif
-------------------------
And seriously guys... blonde? Some of you really see that color as blonde? It's orange... similar to many natural "red" heads. Granted, it's closer to the yellow/blonde of the miniseries rather than the various shades of auburn used in later media, but that doesn't make it blonde. /hairfetishnerdrage
What I like about this figure:
- It's very obviously Cover Girl.
- The belt/pouch combo.
- The non-torpedo chest.
What I don't like about this figure:
- That head sculpt was pretty decent back in the day, but the ME recast looks terrible.
- The monocolor "jumpsuit" look.
- Hair color. Why?
I give it a solid meh.

You sir, win this thread. :D
Really...really...best club figure you've seen? I've seen customs that are 1,000,000 times better than this, that blowing wind hair alone takes the whole figue down, at least give us a better hairstyle close to what she had in her first comic appearance.
Wow! People are actually still making this fake-ass, bullshit argument with a straight face still? Customizers have access to whatever parts they want from across the entire history of 1/18 scale anything. Why would you even expect something mass-produced by Hasbro to be as good as something hand-crafted?
BTW, how much does the average custom cost, f***ers, 'cause I usually see the good ones on Ebay for upwards of $50 to $60.
You think I'm being hard? That I'm hurting people's delicate widdle feelings? Well good. Not everyone's opinion is equally valid, and if you think it is, then go to a f***ing insane asylum and listen to what everybody there has to say, because their psychotic opinions are obviously all valid as well. I'm simply following this line of thinking to its logical conclusion.
News flash people, everyone's opinion is not equally valid. An opinion built without the foundations of truth, reason, logic, or even basic sanity is like a house built on a tar-pit someone set fire to. Go f***ing live there if you think I'm wrong.
Could someone teach me to speak down to people who state their opinion. There seem to be some experts in that particular area hanging around these threads.
I could, but you're not worthy of my time. :)
Now, the figure.
I don't know what the hell people were expecting of the club, but anyone who thought this would be anything other than Sparta with a jacket and different paint aps is suffering the long-term effects of multiple concussions, or was born addicted to some illicit substance. This is exactly what I was expecting, no more, no less, and it will fit in fairly well with my 25th collection.
I will admit, though, that with unlimited budget, resources, and time, like what most customizers have, it could have been done significantly better. For a toy, it's pretty damn attractive.

Zefram does have a valid point. The Joe customs I've sold online usually bring me 40-70 bucks, and back when I did Transformers customs for the TRU re-issues I'd get 1-400 for them...
the great thing about these though...no paint rub :)
Iffn' ya'll don't like em', don't buy em'. It'll reduce the subscription list, and force the GIJCC to put extras out for others. I wouldn't mind a few extra Topsides and Barrelrolls over the 2 I plan on subscribing for.
People fail to realise...ya'll were given the freedom of choice. You don't like the product? DON'T BUY IT! I don't drink Heinekin, but it's still a popular beer. MANNER dictates I don't talk shite about the beer, cause my favorite beer is LaBatte, which more than most don't like...which yeah, causes most stores not to carry, but we're not talking retail. We're talking a liqour store that knows who wants what, and is a regular customer, and caters to them. People are getting their thongs in a twisted bit over something that's only available to GIJCC Officers.

Here is exactly what I hate about the Tank: one person saying that their opinion is more valid than another because they are able to make a more persuasive written argument than another. You left out what is the actual saying: EVERYONE IS ENTITLED TO AN OPINION, not that every opinion is equally valid. The thing that the Tank has gotten very bad about is practically yelling down at someone every time they ask a question, say something even slightly incorrect, don't read every post in 100+ page thread, or - God forbid - say something that one of the 10 more opinionated folks on here that really get a kick out of ripping into other Tankers don't agree with. In fairness, I've gotten pulled into with some of you guys, won a few battles - lost a few as well - but my life is never any more content proving a point on here. I can only imagine some of you get a lot of contentment ranting and ripping others to shreds. No, not everyone is right on here, but HOW YOU CORRECT SOMEONE can make you just as wrong! If people were actually having a conversation, and you started telling them how stupid their idea was like you do on here, people wouldn't just walk away like many have on the Tank - but that's the thing, people don't talk that way in real life. Why? You see what you are doing to the person as you are ripping them up and down and saying, "I'm the king of all things GI Joe because I have retained a small bit of knowledge from some esoteric interview" and I my ability to argue is unmatched.
I think, to Zefram's point, some people just want to be validated on this site. They have the same passion as everyone else and have gumption to actually share how they feel on the page. You post not to be held up to public scrutiny, but to share how you are feeling. But many seek to INVALIDATE that person. And that is unnecessary.
To the OP, the CG figure looks great. Definitely not perfect, but far better figure than Sparta was because of the Jacket and patch on her sleeve. Still can't decide if she would have been better served with darker pants than her top as she is sometimes depicted with dark tan pants and a lighter tan top (or white) but in the end, it doesn't change that the figure looks great and better than a Sparta with a jacket on it due to the change in hair color and the detailing on the patch.

1) The hair and head - uninspiring and seen it before.
2) The Devil's Due era jacket - seen it before.
3) Body - Eh.
4) Deco - No green on the boots? Not even a difference in the hair color from Sparta? Come on, guys, that's not costing you a dime to change the color of the hair. CG had dark red/auburn hair!
Since 25th Anniversary started, I've gotten more requests for a custom Cover Girl than any other character. I've made dozens of variations of her (some of which are featured on my blog - see the link in my signature below) which means there is a lot of desire for her by fans. When Hasbro finally got around to making her, I was really hoping for a 25th Anniversary style figure. Not that I don't enjoy making customs of her, but I really think the character hasn't gotten her due.
By Hasbro letting the fan club make her, they had such a great opportunity to ensure that every one of these fans HAD to sign up for their subscription to get her...and in my opinion they blew it.
I'm sad to say I'm still not in for the sub. It's expensive, and the figures aren't doing it for me.

Cover girl does not have red hair. In the original Marvel comics and the all previous action figures of her she has brown hair, and in the first season of the cartoon she was a blonde.
Why are so many people so upset that she is not a red head?

I would say you are the custom Cover Girl master (and sorry, I misattributed a MASS Device CG custom of yours in another thread recently).
So have I, in 1983.
http://i802.photobucket.com/albums/yy302/zeframmann/Yo%20Joe/covergirl_large.jpg
Talk about moot arguments, though. I get so tired of everyone saying how we should get over ARAH, been there, done that, we don't need a redux of a character we already got in 1986, and then watching everybody blow their shorts over 30th anniversary Lifeline and Sci-Fi.
Also, seriously, I acknowledge the contingent that has collected for many years, but what is the Joe community without the 25th and its followers? That's what most of us are here for. If we happen to get roped into PoC, club exclusives and the like, that's just a result of our being here for the main event. But ARAH is the backbone.
Why are so many people so upset that she is not a red head?
The cartoon, dude. The cartoon.

Her hair color is pretty much a perfect match for the original filecard:
YOJOE.COM | Filecard Gallery - Cover Girl (http://www.yojoe.com/filecard/83/covergirl.shtml)
So it's not like they came up with this out of nowhere.
Honestly, I am pretty confused by the people that are nitpicking this thing to death. It's not a 100% perfect reproduction of the original, but If this came as a 25th Anniversary figure it would easily be in the top ten percent for accuracy.

If this came as a 25A figure it would be $6-8. And grats on finding where the hair color came from. The choice is no longer confusing, but still lame.

A lot of money is being laid down on these figures, presumably for many, because of CG and Big Boa. So I think nitpicking is in order.
If she had been part of the 25th line, nitpicking, while still something to do, would be a little less valid.

Actually, I think the color looks nothing like the file card (never mind the hair cut -- I'll save that for the Super Cuts forum). Guess it's time to recalibrate the ol' Dell monitor.

I guess if you want a redhead MOC Cover Girl its a problem but the Sparta figure is essentially the alt head, giving fans a choice.
Since the sub is aimed at the Joecon market its a safe bet that those who really, really care have the MB2 set.

I love the captive market arguments. They're so neat and circular and self-fulfilling.
In any case, what you're saying is that I should swap heads, giving Sparta the bright orange 'do (when her only other iterations had brown hair) and Cover Girl the deep red 'do (when 95% of her other appearances have been various shades of auburn). And that should fix everything. And since I care, I must have both, right?

So the biggest gripe is that because we're paying more than retail for these, they must, by definition, be perfect? We aren't paying extra for perfection. We're paying extra because these aren't being produced by global toy giant Hasbro, but by a little rinkie-dink fan club with great access and some good ideas.
I've never approached this subscription with the idea that I'm going to get perfect "ultimate" editions of my most beloved characters. It was my understanding that this sub was the Club's effort to provide us with a few wanted, and unexpected figures from a line that ended a couple of years ago. Figures that Hasbro forgot, didn't get around to, or cancelled (in some cases). I may not be a fan of every decision, but I'm very happy with the way this first series turned out overall.
The fact is that the sub Cover Girl is a great rendition of the classic character. Not perfect, but about as close as Hasbro has come with many of their offerings. Complaining that it costs more now so it should be better doesn't make any sense. There's no comparison between the resources of Hasbro and those of the GI Joe Club. The figures cost more because they aren't distributing tens of thousands of them across the globe. You pay more because they don't get to spread their own costs the way Hasbro can.

Happy medium? Please elaborate. I would really like to know how a color used in one illustration, drastically different from all others, is a happy medium.

Yes and yes.
Sorry, I sold off my Sparta. The figure was neither faithful enough to the original nor interesting enough in design on its own for me to be interested in. I don't collect figures just because they are made. I guess, under your careful consideration, I don't care enough to warrant expressing an opinion. http://s70.photobucket.com/albums/i116/hellion42/smilies/roll.gif

I think we're treading on old territory here...
The first Cover Girl figure was a brunette. The first cartoon mini-series gave her blonde hair. I believe this was later changed. The later comic pack had red hair, and in the movie she was definitely a blonde.
This new figure has been described as "strawberry" blonde. I'm not a hair stylist, nor do I intend to be one, but to my understanding that's a "reddish" blonde. That seems to be somewhere in between all of these changes.
I'm not saying that you have to be happy with it. Or that you should just accept it. I'm just saying that I think the club tried to make her a mix of all those versions and it apparently didn't work out for many of her fans here.
My argument was that the $20-$25 price tag has little to nothing to do with the quality of the figure, but with the actual costs of producing one in such a small quantity.
What ME figures have you been happy with?

So instead of getting a $0.99 paintbrush and fixing it, you're just going to cry about how the Club didn't give you exactly what you wanted?
It's posts like this I find so amusing when people here get angry over toy-collectors being called immature by mainstream society.

Higher cost = higher standard. I understand what the low production run does to manufacturing costs. Bottom line is, it costs more to me, the consumer. It needs to be better.
This is my opinion, and I don't see anything unreasonable about it.

I've got a decent paint selection and quite a few brushes. I was planning on re-painting it. And trying to get rid of the fivehead. But for what I'm paying, I shouldn't have to fix anything.
And if wanting the most for my money is immature, so be it.

So in other words, you like pretty much every single 25th figure, no matter how far off they were from their ARAH counterpart, and yet this Cover Girl is somehow not up to snuff?
I don't have a problem with people pointing out details that they don't like (heck, I mention in this thread that I think the head sits too low), my problem comes form people that are saying that this is a terrible figure, or that they are shocked that it doesn't have a new head, or that it doesn't match the original.
Nothing about this figure should have shocked anyone. If what you see isn't good enough for you, fine, but the level of nit picking (her hair is the wrong shade of blonde/brown/red!!!!) is just kind of ridiculous.

It wouldn't be unreasonable if we were talking about Hasbro. When they charge $14.99 for and SDCC figure we understand that it has everything to do with limited production runs and nothing to do with higher quality. Why would the teeny, tiny Joe club charging $20-$25 be a surprise?
