Duke finally got rid of his crappy arms, all he had to do was wear Snake-Eye's body! This figure is unlike any Duke we've ever seen, it's a Greenshirt Duke. The same Duke head put onto a Snake-Eyes body makes this figure. The face looks like it has a meaner expression on it, but this seems to be due to the fact that the head is molded in flesh colored plastic rather than painted that color. He comes with the same removable chest strap and helmet but now comes with a new knife and new Binoculars along with a Rifle that is reminiscent of the one the original Grunt came with. In fact, the body even looks like it should be Grunt's body! He also has GI Joe stand.
This figure is best used for customizers to get a Grunt that will resemble the other released "Original 13" figures or just to make a generic Greenshirt. The Binoculars are pretty nicely detailed as is the new knife, but that's the only good parts here.

Red Star looks just like how a member of the Russian Oktober Guard should look, even if it's a Duke body with a new head and lower legs. The gun holster on the side of the leg has been changed too. They tried giving the holster a bendy flap like Snow Job and a few others have had, but this time around it didn't quite work out so well. The removable hat is a nice nod to the vintage figure. Red Star also comes with a backpack, small knife, Messenger bag, Revolver, Rifle with removable drum clip and a GI Joe Stand.
The only draw backs to this figure are the Dreaded Duke arms, the holster flap (Which is really only a minor issue) and the rifle's drum clip. I love removable clips for weapons, but this one is a little too loose and keeps falling out all the time.

I LOVE the Red Star fig, but that Duke sucks. When I got him it's like his head doesn't even fit on that body, it's all outta poportion & looks strange, & his new bionx are just swinging there, but the ultimate WORST is the lack of his belt... that is just lame. He looks so weird without one.
Red Star = awesome!!
Duke (Year 1) = bagel...

I like the pack over all. Duke is plain but to me he'd the best version because he can sit properly :)

I'm not a fan of this pack. Another Duke... No thanks. Red star... very cool figure but I can name 25 joes off the top of my head that I would rather have.

I hope the fact that Red Star's file card had an "Oktober Guard" logo rather than "G.I. Joe" means that more Guards are on the way.

this was another of those just total waste's of a figure: did anyone really want a greenshirt Duke?
Red Star on the flip side was hella rad, John Wayne head and crappy Duke arms and all. Great gear and a well executed figure.

I bought this pack even though i wasn't really impressed with it. Good review and i would have to agree with it your rating...

i rather like that duke....especially after i swapped his hands for a cobra trooper's gloved hands.
i see that duke as just what he looks like---a greenshirt....earlier in his joe career.
of course there are other figs idve liked to have seen in this figure's stead, but, as far as a cheapie comic pack figure....i like him.

Here! I wanted this toy!
I pretty much agreed with what you said about Red Star, plus I can’t stand the fact that knowing our luck he’ll be the only member of the October Guard we get…
But this Duke I think is terribly underrated. I’d say I enjoyed him MORE than Red Star! The parts were great, and he just has a “first thirteen” look to him. He really looks good, and has this charm to him the other Duke figures don’t.
Plus, his gun is WIN.

...but before you saw him, was it something you were clamoring for? that's what i meant... one of those cases were it seems to me for a very minimal effort they could have done Grunt, Zap or Shortfuse

Ah, sorry, I misunderstood you. Not really, but I rarely anticipate figures that have previous remakes before I see pictures.

Nice review. Red Star is must have if you ask me. I really like this figure. Duke is okay, but just another Duke as far as I am concerned.

The Duke from this pack is great for customs; it's the only released version of the long-sleeved Original 13 outfit that color-matches with Rock N Roll, Breaker et al. Already got comic pack Hawk and Ranking Officers Grunt switched over to these bodies....

I actually kinda like the Duke... to me I don't use him as Duke.. he is a generic green shirt. I just tossed him in the hover vehicle on the HAVOC and he stays there. it works... I'm done with him. time to move on.

I didn't think too much of the Duke figure himself, but his weapons were a godsend, with the M-16 going to General Hawk and the pistol going to the Breaker that went with the RAM cycle when I gave the gray pistol to Falcon who didn't have one to begin with. I replaced the original Duke's binoculars with the pair from here too, just because I was sick of looking under my dresser for them on the rare occasions he took a nose dive.
I liked Red Star with his funky new revolver. I hope that's an accessory that appears more often.

I'm a big Oktober guard fan mainly because my ethnic background is from the former USSR and i visited Russia four times ,but i thought they would go with the name "Col Brekov " instead of the stereotypical Russian name "Red star" ,i am not a big fan of body part swapping i think Hasbro is above this ,this reminds me of a 1980's Mattel cost cutting measure they used with the entire Masters of the Universe line ,remember most of the figures had the same body ?
I will definatly buy this two figure pack just for Red Star !
