Voltron Moves Into Turnaround - ComingSoon.net (http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=48053)
i'm more excited for this then the Joe movie, for obvious reasons...unless of course they make the lions look nothing like the lions from the 80's like they've done with the Joe movie

yeah yeah, don't get your hopes up. Five robots that form a big robot to fight big monsters........... can anybody say "Power Rangers"? Just kidding. I'm glad to see it and this could be done right. I was a huge fan of the lions but they can keep the other one.

Don't worry, someone will look at the old cartoon and decide that the lions would all work better if they were all black and transformed into wisecracking robots who you can't tell apart. Either that, or they'll just give it to Joel Schoemaker. Pick you poison.

"Marks' take is described as a post-apocalyptic tale set in New York City and Mexico, where five survivors of an alien attack band together and end up piloting the five lion-shaped robots that combine and form the massive sword-wielding Voltron that helps battle Earth's invaders."
i dont remember the cartoon 100% is this what happend?

No. In the cartoon, Voltron was the ultimate "Defender of the Universe" a long time ago, but he was tricked, and scattered into five parts by that space witch lady. The planet he came from was then overrun by baddies until the new Voltron team came, dug up the lions and brought Voltron to life again. I don't believe the earth was ever even mentioned.

Why dose Hollywood think they have to change everything. That post-apocalyptic crap is so over done. That's your typical Hollywood answer to anything not made in this country. It like they think Americans are to dumb to understand what going on.
I have no interested in that movie
I hope the WB dose not screw up Robotech (http://www.beyondhollywood.com/category/robotech-2009-movie/). Harmony gold did change the story a little bit from Macross they shouldn't have to do much to the plot.

Actually, their just being more true to the Japanese counterpart, GoLion. In GoLion, Earth is in the first episode and is a post-apocalyptic future. Here's something from the Voltron wiki page:
Plot changes
Both shows begin with the five pilots as pilots sent by the Galaxy Alliance, whose space-exploration mission takes them to a planet devastated by war. In Voltron, the pilots arrive on Arus, and are captured and taken to Planet Doom. They then escape and return to Arus, and become the pilots of the robot lions and Voltron. In GoLion, the initial scenes are actually of Earth, as the pilots have returned from their mission in the year 1999 to find that the entire population of Earth has been killed in a nuclear war. They are then captured and taken to Planet Galra, where the plot proceeds similarly
So yeah, it ain't that far off, just simplified down to a single planet.

It seem to me that the Transformers in the film had a special configuration for space travel and had a weakness cold temperatures to there robot form. At least that's what I pick up on.

That's just the tip of the iceberg of the changes made when GoLion was made into Voltron. Don't take my word for it though, take this official trailer for GoLion Uncut's word:

judging by Rolandos breakdown, which is exactly how i remember it, i am GLAD they updated the story, however, i hope they change absolutely nothing about the look of Voltron, even the theme music still gives me goosebumps of joy...
did you see the Robot Chicken making fun of the 5000 car Voltron?...by the time it was completed (Voltron had to disassemble once cause they got put together wrong the first time) the place they were defending was destroyed...funny stuff

She sure did, I think that damaged my brain at four years old. It explains why it never aired on American TV.

I have to say, the "Mad Max" scenario is stupid, and changing the races of two of the characters is pandering.
Come on, I have no idea why Sprite decided to mix "Voltron" and rap music in some commercials from a few years back...
YouTube - Voltron Hip Hop Commercial (All) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkODvs4grqE)
The only example of rap and anime working together is the theme to "Bleach".
Okay, first some idiot thought that making "Eragon" under two hours was a good idea when fantasy films are much longer than that, due to the fact the books most are based on are very long. And especially since many of the important parts were left out of the final cut. And now this. Who are the morons at Fox making these decisions and why the hell haven't they been FIRED?!

this is going to be a tuff movie to make a plot for, i watched this growing up and have the dvds now and all the things he fought were giant monsters. Who are they going to have voltron fight?? are they going to set the movie in GA and make him slice up all the bigfoots??

I know a great deal about Lion Force Voltron and Go-Lion, and some about Vehicle Team Voltron as well.
The first two parts of Go-Lion are out on DVD and if you liked Voltron as a child, you'll love Go-Lion on DVD.
The first part of Vehicle Team Voltron is getting released in September. It is actually a more mature series than Lion Force Voltron in terms of its content, and very underappreciated. It is adapted from Dairugger XV, a Japanese series. You can watch some of the edited stuff on YouTube.
World Events Productions re-wrote the stories behind Go-Lion and Dairugger and combined them into one Voltron story. There are some scenes from Dairugger used in Lion Force Voltron. There's no "Galaxy Alliance" in Go-Lion. Earth is devastated by a nuclear war and blows up about one-third into the series (the Voltron episode "Pidge's Home Planet" is what this was turned into, in Go-Lion that planet is Earth).
King Zarkon (Emperor Daibazaal), Prince Lotor (Prince Sincline) and Haggar the Witch (Honerva) all perish at the end of Go-Lion and the story is resolved, whereas in Voltron scenes are spliced in to make it look like Zarkon and Lotor escaped, with Haggar's fate left unknown. You can watch their deaths on YouTube 'til the third part of Go-Lion comes out.
The Justin Marks script sounds awful to me. One of the things that made Voltron unique to me was its combination of sci-fi and fantasy and the design of the Arus/Altea culture and the Doom/Galra culture. Removing those things to me makes it psuedo-Voltron. It also sounds as if he has changed the basic personalities of the principle characters and all but eliminated the antagonists, their characters being just as important to the story (imagine re-writing Star Wars without Darth Vader).

Awesome news.
Sounds like they are sticking to what was in the leaked script from a looooong time ago.
I remember seeing the first trailer to Cloverfield, and thinking....Hmmm...this could be a sneak peek of the Voltron movie...but nope....
lol.
If they do stick to that script that was out, then it will be awesome, though the idea of the lions made from scraps was a little wacky.
