So when the IDW titles relaunched, they relaunched with Heavy Duty in Roadblock's role, claiming that his story was more untold so they would be able to do more with him.

I've noticed that during the Civil War, they are using the character Roadblock, not Heavy Duty. Is this the same character (I am assuming it is) and if so, when did they change the name over? Did they give any explanation for the change?

Help me out if you can.

There seemed to be this rush to use Heavy somewhere in the VvsV era...why exactly I'm not sure...personally I think there was a thought that Heavy was the character more likely to be used in the film.

The push for Heavy may have been due to the name Roadblock itself...which may not have been secured by Hasbro at the time. But Heavy may have been free so maybe they just figured its easier to swap characters than try to secure rights.

Roadblock appeared first in the 2nd arc of GI Joe Origins. I've never seen Heavy Duty used in any IDW titles other than movie cannon

Didn't Hasbro make some announcement just before the movie was released that Roadblock as a character was now Heavy Duty, or at the very least, that both characters were merged into one which would be Heavy Duty.
