Hello, thank you for waiting and welcome to eBay Live Help! My name is John. If you're a registered member, may I please start by having you confirm your User ID and first name?
9:28:41 PM superadaptoid
superadaptoid. Paul.
9:29:13 PM John Se.
Hello Paul, how can I help you today?
9:29:42 PM superadaptoid
Please be patient. I am so irate I can hardyl type.
9:30:27 PM superadaptoid
I tried to relist my item and I tried to change the shipping weight from. . .
9:30:39 PM superadaptoid
3+ pounds to less than 1 pound.
9:30:54 PM superadaptoid
None of the items I just sold were over 1 pound, but. . .
9:31:15 PM superadaptoid
it kept recalculating the weight at 3+ pounds.
9:31:15 PM John Se.
I'd be glad to help, you've come to the right place. Are you currently making this listing?
9:31:32 PM superadaptoid
I just finished and wondered why everything went for so low.
9:31:39 PM superadaptoid
I didn't even break even.
9:32:21 PM superadaptoid
I was told by a friend online that shipping was calculating for him at $12 in Ohio for an item that was less than 1 pound'\.
9:32:37 PM superadaptoid
He looked into this after my listing ended.
9:33:21 PM superadaptoid
So when we tried to relist the items that didn't sell, the weight continued to continually switch back to 3+ pounds.
9:33:27 PM John Se.
Is this from an item from a few days ago?
9:33:35 PM John Se.
We were having a problem with shipping a few days ago.
9:33:40 PM superadaptoid
These items ended tonight
9:33:59 PM superadaptoid
Is this issue similar to the problems you were having?
9:34:13 PM John Se.
Yes it's exactly the same. Can I get the item number?
9:34:27 PM superadaptoid
It's nine items. Is that alright?
9:34:38 PM John Se.
Can I just get one of the item numbers that this is affecting?
9:34:47 PM superadaptoid
Okay BRB
9:35:15 PM superadaptoid
200160723688
9:35:49 PM John Se.
One moment please while I bring up your listing.
9:36:30 PM superadaptoid
Okay.
9:37:33 PM John Se.
Let me just diagnose the problem.
9:37:42 PM superadaptoid
With the envelope it should weigh no more than 1.5 ounces.
9:37:54 PM John Se.
Okay I have found a solution.
9:37:59 PM John Se.
Actually wait one moment please.
9:38:05 PM superadaptoid
Alright.
9:40:49 PM John Se.
So that I may discuss information about your item, could you confirm for me your full name, address, phone number and email address?
9:41:36 PM superadaptoid XXXX [Etc.]
9:42:22 PM John Se.
Thank you Paul.
9:42:34 PM superadaptoid
I don't know if I stated this clearly enough the first time, but it did the same thing when I tried to relist an item as well.
9:42:39 PM John Se.
I see this item was listed as a package or thick envelope
9:42:59 PM John Se.
With 3-4 pounds as the weight, and you put it in as less correct?
9:43:01 PM superadaptoid
Right.
9:43:23 PM superadaptoid
4 in. x 7 in. envelope, .75 in thick.
9:43:37 PM superadaptoid
Correct
9:45:10 PM superadaptoid
It switched back on my first listing, a week ago, and I just thought it was an isolated glitch or my browser. Then it repeated it throughout the rest of my listings after I made the correction. I didn't notice those changes because I was convinced I made a correction. Then after the disaster was realized, I tried to relist and it created the same switchback.
9:46:49 PM John Se.
Okay that should be from the old bug.
9:47:04 PM John Se.
I would recommend starting a new listing for this item and also writing in to billing to get a credit for all your other items it affected.
9:47:14 PM John Se.
Do not use sell similar or relist from one of the items this has affected.
9:47:27 PM superadaptoid
Okay. How does that work?
9:47:34 PM John Se.
You can go to this link http://pages.ebay.com/help/contact_u...ult_3_2_2.html and scroll to the bottom of the page and click on "Email Us" to request a credit on your account.
9:47:44 PM John Se.
Let them know you spoke to live help and are requesting a credit for all your other items.
9:48:19 PM superadaptoid
What kind of credit? What exactly is a credit? Will this affect my feedback ratiing?
9:48:29 PM John Se.
A credit for the fees you paid.
9:49:27 PM superadaptoid
What about the buyers who think I'm gouging them? That's what's got me so upset, they're gonna neg me for sure on this!
9:49:59 PM John Se.
I understand let them know that there was a bug on the site and they can contact us and ask if to confirm it.
9:50:37 PM superadaptoid
What do I tell them? Do I tell them to tell you the item number? Will you be able to pull that info up?
9:51:04 PM John Se.
If they were one of your buyers, definitely.
9:51:39 PM superadaptoid
So I tell them to contact. . .? Safeharbor? or Cust service?
9:52:39 PM John Se.
Let them know you will refund the difference of shipping.
9:52:58 PM superadaptoid
Alright. Okay.
9:53:19 PM John Se.
I hope that does help.
9:53:29 PM superadaptoid
Alright, anything else?
9:53:39 PM John Se.
That should do it!
9:54:01 PM superadaptoid
Thank you, have a nice night.
9:54:58 PM John Se.

Damn. I saw your auctions with the higher shipping, but I didn't know if that incorporated packaging, etc. Sorry for the loss PJ.

that's why i do my own calculations.

thankfully from selling so much stuff, i got a good idea on how much everything will cost for shipping down to the dollar.

sorry to hear that man, you should be able to not have to sell, and relist. they can't count that against you.

WOW! That is horrible. Glad I could help. When i saw that, I was shocked...

(It had the price of shipping 1 uncarded JOE at 13 bucks to Ohio.)

So are they going to fix your problem and refund you...or for all this. A convention exclusive to sell for a buck...come on. Plus your not even going to get that shipping charge. PLUS you might get negative feedback for ridiculous shipping. I would personally contact the buyers and say that "the shipping calculator was screwed up and I will be refundning the difference. Sorry for any inconvience."

Well, keep us updated on this. Let us know how EBAY handles this whole thing as it pans out.

Your help was greatly appreciated. This thread wouldn't be here without you.

So are they going to fix your problem and refund you...or for all this.

I'm getting my listing fees back. That's pretty much it. They weren't exactly falling over themselves to make up for something that could potentially scare away alot of customers.

PLUS you might get negative feedback for ridiculous shipping. I would personally contact the buyers and say that "the shipping calculator was screwed up and I will be refundning the difference. Sorry for any inconvience."

That's exactly what I'm doing.

Well, keep us updated on this. Let us know how EBAY handles this whole thing as it pans out.

I think they pretty much handled it. They're done on their end where I'm concerned. You'll notice nothing was stated during the chat about the IT progress on this bug.

Right, I noticed that. No mention what-so-ever that the issue was corrected, just a comment of "this is the same bug as the other day...".

All in all, at least you're in the clear now ;)

I'd be livid and ask them to null all the transactions affected and allow you to relist all items!

I suppose it would be better just to manually calculate shipping like Outback says. I had a similar experience where shipping to IL was going to cost $23 on an item 2lbs, where i shipped the same exact item for $4.60 the other day. I just went over to the USPS website and created my postage that way.

Yeah, I live in Canada, so I always just manually calculate it.

Wow, they can do that? I knew you could do it during the auction, but not after it closed.

I once forgot to mention I wasn't going to ship overseas on an auction and I ended up paying three times what the auction went for in shipping fees.

While not the same as your problem, I still feel your pain.

ARG!!!
I told eBay about a bug in their calculate shipping option. They totally ignored me!
I give 3 options: parcel post, priority, & UPS.
Everytime I send out invoices I have to correct the calculator. Parcel post seems to be always higher than priority which it shouldn't be. Not to mention the "irregular package" check is always auto selected. I just can't seem to get rid of that. I even created a new listing but that didn't help at all.

So you're saying this is still going on?

What the hell is going on over there?
