This is my latest custom using the Tiger Shark theme I came up for water vehicles. Its just your basic Killer Whale repainted in the blue with Tiger Stripes. The only difference is I made a mold of the Missile box arm and the Cannon Tips so I can cast as many as I need for all my Whale customs. So both Missile arms and both cannon tips are cast pieces the rest is original parts. The paint i used was a Krylon Fusion what and Krylon Global blue and I handpainted the eyes and mouth since I couldn't find any stickers that looked good.

As always please visit my customs gallery for more pics as well as larger pics:

I normally do not like freaky paint jobs hence why I am not a fan of things like Python Patrol, but man that look sweet I love that blue/white camo job.

Sweet! I love the colors and the pattern. I wouldn't mind if Hasbro re-released the Whales with this deco.

the only cast pieces on it are the Cannon Tips and the Missile Box Arms. Those always seem to either be the most missing part or broken parts when it comes to Whale. At some point I plan on casting both Vane pieces and the link bar just so I can make parts for my customs without having to use the Original pieces.

i know full well the rarity of those parts. i have three incomplete whales and one complete, mostly because of those parts. i agree with your philosophy of casting, cast rare parts to use you have, to use on others for customizing. this has been roiling in my mind for a long time. what do you think about dental techniques applied to casting? i can't remember the product, but it's the same product that is used in casting crowns. from what i hear it allows a lot of detail and is inexpensive.

I just use Silicone and make a 2 part mold of the parts I need, Small Vehicle parts or Cast heads and then use 2 part resin to fill them. I like making the 2 part silicone molds because I can get alot of use out of the molds and dont have to worry about them tearing.

Heres a pic of my 2 part mold I made for the Missile Box Arm and cannon tip so you can get an idea

Very nice work. I seriously need to learn casting. I still need new missle boxes for my WHALE.

wow, thanks for the tips! a two part mold is a great idea. it seems like you could turn any idea into reality, depending on how much you want to spend. i actually have a lot of 2 part resin i use for boat building, i wonder if that would work.

again, nice whale paint job. i love the fusion paint. the lighter tiger stripes are a cool touch and are blended great.

carnage717 - I just spent the last 1/2 hour looking through your gallery. I am nearly speechless - absolutely amazing! Your customs are most impressive, but the quantity of figures and vehicles you have from back in the day is just amazing. I love seeing all the planes hung up from your ceiling as well. One question, though: How long does it take you to dust? You should really get some of that stuff behind glass so you're not dusting all the time! J/K. Seriously, though, really great stuff and I may have to see you when I figure out what parts I am missing from some of the vehicles I have and am getting from another Tanker. And that Destro might have to be mine as well . . .

The last time I dusted everything it took me almost 5 hours to do the entire room. At some point I plan moving my entire collection to another part of the house and I will completely redo my Joe room with Glass Cases for all my figures and small vehicles which will help with the dusting. Its not fun to dust my Joe room, no fun at all.
