Thought I read that the military comic DC just released has the team lead by Sgt. Rock's grandson?Yep. It's not bad but it's grounded in the world of super heroes. If you're looking for a purely military comic or WW2 storyline then it may not be your cup of tea.

It's called Men of War. It's an odd book. First half is the new Sgt. Rock. The second half is a Navy SEALs storyline.

Should check out Blackhawks. Written by Cobra's Mike Costa.
A G.I. Joe like team that deals with superhuman threats.

That book makes me wish Hasbro had the DC action figure license.

No kidding. The Blackhawks would make good 3 3/4" figures.

Men of War will be gone soon I predict. Blackhawks might be too, but it is fun. Proof I think that Costas could write a traditional Joe
book.

Wow. This is like GI Joe meets my other fave, Stormwatch Team Achilles.

Stormwatch Team Achilles was an awesome book. Too bad the writer lied about being an Army Ranger and it led to the book being canceled.
I agree Jay, I think Men of War and Blackhawks will probably be among the first casualties (Mr. Terrific, Hawk And Dove will be the others).

Is that what happened? I always wondered why the book just stopped mid story with a cliffhanger. Wildstorm scrapped the whole series because the writer lied about his past?

Yeah, cause of the controversey. Small controversy, but still there.
I think they just used it as an excuse cause of poor sales?
But it was a great book.

It was going to be canned anyways, they had Micah Wright write a issue that closes the series but DC canned it and his upcoming Vigilante series as soon as news broke. The last script is floating around somewhere.
His past was heavily promoted to sell the book. He was always presented as "former/retired Army Ranger Micah Wright" and used this made up past to criticise the war in Iraq. It was probably one of those eras you don't want to get caught in a lie about military service.... not that any era in history is a good time to lie about that stuff.

I think you can put Grifter and Voodoo on that casualty list. Too much baggage to try to fit them in the DCU.

There's no baggage with the relaunch. There's no connection to anything from the old Wildstorm titles (same with Stormwatch).
Starting fresh.
I don't see the 3 WS titles getting canned right away, not with Lee one of the 3 in charge. Those will be given every chance to succeed.

LOL, I've heard of this guy and didn't even make the connection. He's that unpopular in OIF vet circles.

I think they should cancel Grifter and Vodoo and maybe even Blackhawks and let Costas write a Wildcats book. They should bring in Majestic and the Coda.

O.K. going to show my age here but does anyone remember DC's "weird war tales" featuring the creature commandos? Why couldn't they bring that back? Also they would make a great 1/18th scale set.

The CC are currently in it and will probably be part of the supporting cast.
