View Full Version : Shogi's Keel Haul & Ice viper

Here's my take on a couple of customs everyone's doing right now:

Keel Haul:

Head and Hat - Red Star (I used green stuff for the "eagle" on the hat, I'm not too happy with the outcome though)
Torso - Crankcase/Shippy
Arms and Jacket - Torture Han Solo (Green stuff for the medals)
Hands - Beachhead
Belt - Wild Weasel
Legs - Gung-Ho (The Left pouch is from one of the Dreadnoks)

Ice Viper:

Helmet - Indy German Motorcycle Driver
Head - Legions 5 pack Trooper
Torso, Collar and Arms - Snow Serpent
Hands - Arctic Snake-Eyes
Bandolier - Duke
Upper Legs - Ace
Lower Legs - Arctic Snake-Eyes

I decided to go with a darker, easier to customize version of the Ice Viper (This is my fancy way of saying I was too lazy to sculpt anything or even paint the torso. I really hate painting joints :) )

Those look tight. Grats. I'm liking the Keel Haul's I've been seeing. I may have to make one. Those torture Solo's are cool but I can't find them 'round here any more. Gonna' try the Indi arms and jacket. Did the Solo arms fit better than Indi arms do with the 25th torso?

Wow Shogi these look factory, man! That Red Star head is great to make older guys! Very versatile. He doesn't even look like Red Star...or my Gen. Blitz custom, lol! That Ice Viper is SICK! I looked at that German Soldier helmet and laughed, because when I saw it, I was think the same thing for a custom!

I didn't try Indy's arms. I had already made half the figure when I saw someone else do that (I've been pretty lazy getting Keel Haul done :) )

If you have a Khol's store anywhere near you, they may have some of those Solo's around (The price is significantly higher though)

Really, I thought Khols just sold shirts and shoes 'n stuff. If I got the Solo fig I'd have a hard time taking it appart. I will probably go with the Indi figs. There has been no shortage of those around. Thanks Shogi

message to all: use Indy figs for customs. So the Walmarts will get rid of some of em. and buy more JOES.

Nice JOB Shogi.... I'm inspired to get to work right now.

I really like both customs, but being a Cobra fan, I'm a little more partial to Ice Viper, even though Keel Haul was probably more work!

Shogi, fantastic job on the Ice Viper, what kind of paint and color did you use? If you were to add or do anything differently today, with the Ice Viper what changes if any would you make?

I was and still am very pleased with the Ice Viper. I don't think I'd change anything about it. As for paints, I used Regular Testors Acrylic for the grays and browns and the black was Testors Model Masters paint. All the other colors were put there by Hasbro :)
