Dose Hasbro really watch what we say on Hisstank?

It seem like a lot of folks on here end there post with something like "Are you paying attention Hasbro?" or something like that.

Do they really watch us that close?

Not saying they aren't, but we sure seem to think they do.

If they are, to what extent do you think they do?

I think it's clear that Hasbro is responsive to the collector community; see "fixed crotches," and other instances where Hasbro has done more or less exactly what the collectors wanted.

Note that these instances are ignored by the entitlement crowd who think Hasbro should cater to their specific tastes.

Regardless, I do not think Hasbro has an employee monitoring the boards and reporting on anything. If they did, that particular employee would no doubt go crazy, and Hasbro would give up on attempting to please collectors as a positively Sisyphean task.

I have seen several people post that they have had conversations with different hasbro employees, design team, or whoever is at Joecon and SDCC, and they say they check out the joe forums. Why wouldnt they if they were GI joe fans? They probably dont read every page of every thread but some of them check it.

Our blog gets constant hits from Rhode Island. I'd like to think theres some intern they hire out of college to keep tabs on the fast moving action on the GI Joe opinionatrix. Somewhere deep in Hasbro HQ theres a wall of computers with every Joe site on them, which is probably why Joe gets worse and worse as they listen to collectors.

I was at SDCC for the first time this year and talked to a few of the GI Joe designers. They confirmed that they read the Joe boards. I asked them to name a few and they could all name Hisstank and Yojoe.com.

While discussing concerns regarding shortages with Hasbro's marketing rep at the San Diego Comic Con, I was informed that Hasbro do in fact lurks the site. Further more, the marketing rep mentioned that a particular thread (Which happens to be mine) was observed and taken into account.

Recall the thread I started a while back:

"Target Mgr claims Hasbro's intent on the shortages on GI Joe 25th action figures."

Wish Hasbro would fix the waist and or elbows on the Cobra Officer/Trooper mold. Mainly thought just the waist I can be content with just that fixed. Oh and a single carded red symbol Cobra Trooper please....and fix Duke's waist too please.

Yep, they watch all the sites. (except one) There isn't one in particular they look at more than another. You have to look at what the different sites have to offer. While Hisstank is one of the biggest in terms of members and activity, there are other sites that have a smaller but more mature crowd. Each site brings different things to the table, so they're all looked at to get a broad overall view of the GI Joe fan community.

Just like IRID70 said, many suggestions from fans are picked up by Hasbro and implemented. The more comprehensive and "sane" the suggestion, issue, complaint, etc, the more likely they are to listen. Comments like "Dook armz sucks! Deth of teh linez!!" drive them away from sites. If they have to sift through a lot of crap, it's not worth their time.

They'd be fools not to take advantage of a free resource that offers just about every type of fan opinion.

Maybe it's not a 24 hour team of "specialists" wearing fake tele-viper gear, but I'd say that when new products are leaked, announced and shipped, they look in on feedback.

Course, maybe that's all because I'd like to think that my persistant whining finally got Destros chrome plated eyes painted.

I would like the FLAGG, GI Joe base with some more rooms added to it, (the original doesn't have enough room. Keep the original feel and look but make it bigger with more rooms), the Dragonfly Helicopter, the Terror dome. Basically I want every vehicle made from 82 to about 86. Am I asking too much? :)

For ideas....I don't think so. They probably look to see what figures are being discussed after release and what we like/don't like about them so it can be partially corrected for a future re-release.

that is very true....and the snow serpent ends up being one of the greatest to date.
