I really like the first Cobra Sniper from Sideshow, with he being in black so he can hide in the shadows more easily for good better recon and good shots. But I had a problem with him having silvery-white emblems and chevron on his helmet - and having a helmet at all! So I used a black jacket from a Soldier Story Night Ops CIA agent and a duffel bag from some "assassin set" I got on eBay to make my own take.

Here he is relatively incognito searching for a place to nest in.

With knee pads on, bag open and rifle assembled, he gets ready. Unfortunately, rifle is not really disassembled without breaking some glue joints, though the stock does fold in. Just not enough for the Dragunov to not be sticking out of the bag.

Just a pose here. In hindsight, I would leave the black fabric mask on to cover his neck. Just didn't want to futz with it in these pics.

I also realize that he looks less Cobra operative here and more of a police officer or federal agent on sniper duty. Oh well.

I really like your take on the sniper.
He seems as though he's been patrolling that area for a while and is desperately looking for some action.
The backdrop adds to this as well.
Very simple yet an extremely effective use of swapping clothes and gear.
Kudos!

Thanks! I wanted him to look like he would blend in with the populace better than some guy who looks just like a trooper with all of the webgear, canteens and helmet but in black instead. It does make him look more generic and less Cobra. I tried to suggest Cobra by having the emblems on his shirt visible with a partly opened jacket :)

But these guys can be like the Crimson Guards in that they are more Cobra in action rather than in appearance most of the time, dressing in their uniform for only certain occasions.

I am coming up with a different take on the Cobra Desert Sniper using the same philosophy.

You spend all that money on a figure and he still cant hold his weapon and look in the scope properly. If he fires that gun like that he'll probably break his wrist.

Yes. These dios I have for the Sideshows are simple things with a ground and a printed background. The ground is just painted kitty litter (pebble-type) on cardboard and the background is a large matte print out from a jpeg found through Google.

I maybe could have futzed with him a bit more to get him positioned better to have his face closer to the scope and the butt stock closer to his chest, but the pics were more for showing his new clothes in dynamic positions. Realistically, he should either be leaning up against a wall or laying prone. I still need to finish my walls.

One unfortunate thing about these figures is that while they are much more flexible than the 4" guys, they are still not as flexible as the human body to get great firing poses, especially for sniper figures. But they are still awesome. You just need to work a bit at it to get good poses.
