With the move to LA right around the corner, I have spent the last few weeks pulling the shelves aprt, cleaning and packing everything away.
It was not until I got to the boxed, MISB etc stuff that it finally hit me...I think I have way too much GI Joe stuff. Kind of weird feeling as those who know me know what an extensive I have from 1982 right through the 25th Ann stuff.
I have decided to sell a large portion of my other colelctions namely my huge wrestling collection that is not down from about 15 boxes to 1 as well as my Silverhawks and Inhumanoids collection. I dunno-maybe I am burned out right now but I really have no desire to collect anymore of the 25th Ann vehicles (I picked up the Trubble Bubble and Ram) but the thought of another Rattler and Conquest is making my head spin.
What do you guys think?

Trying to buy a home is even harder while collecting these toys.
Every now and then, I have contemplated to sell my ENTIRE collection and stop collecting period. I think stopping collecting period is the only way out of this addiction.

the only way I could do it as well.

i have though about it sure, but man there no way i could replace most of my stuff if i did. Plus the money i got for my collection could in no way be enough to sooth the feelings of regret and sadness i would havel after getting rid of everything.
I would just chill for a bit if i had to, but theres no way i could get rid of anything

Get rid of stuff because you don't want it... not because you need to make room.

The only problem that I have is that it comes out to much to soon. we are getting wave 5 CP right now, then TRU exclusives, then wave 10-11 single carded figures, then the extreme climate exclusieves. Plus the vehicles and then add the dvd packs and the huge battle pack in december. my wallet is screaming, along with my wife. It is getting hard to keep up since stores don't stock them and you have to spend a sh!t load of time looking.

He who dies with the most collectibles will have a wife that sells all that shit in a yard sale with no idea the real value, then take the money and get her nails done to go along with the new man who doesn't collect toys...

I once sold off/lost my HUGE collection. At the time, I needed the money and times were tough. I look back on it now,and wish things could've been different. There were a lot of memories associated with those toys, and my goal now is to re build my collection. I have a ton of this current line, and when it slows down, I will go after all of the old school stuff. Before you dump your stuff just make sure it's the right thing for you do and you're doing it for the right reasons. Just my 2 cents.

Not my wife. I constantly remind her how much these things could be worth later. This way, she can sell all my collectibles when I die and get her a real pretty boy toy and be his sugar-momma.

don't do something you will regret, rehab is for quitters. do you have family that you trust that can store it for you? my mother stored my collection away for 10 years. selling everything off, is the last option in my opinion.

i understand where your coming from. ive been paying for rent for a storage unit for the last five years filled with part of my collection. i havent even been to it in almost a year. i've been slowly selling off some of my vehicles to a more manageable size.

I have a 15x8 shed with nothing but my collectibles. Problem is... IT IS FULL AS A TICK. Now my computer room is being used for a storage area. I am getting rid of the crap I bought thinking it was worth something. But I need a bigger area, my wife thinks I am obsessed and I need to seek help. I can see her having a garage sale and selling this crap to kids that will open packages and tear off the limbs and AGGGGHHHH I DON'T WANNA THINK ABOUT IT!!!! JUST BURY THEM WITH ME OR JUST BURN THEM!!

It seems like a lot of people seem to let the hobby get out of control. When it takes over your life and space maybe its a little too much.
I never understood buying 100 bats or multiples of everything. Hasbro wants people to be completists so they can make the most money.
Ask your self why you got into this in the first place and try to recreate that feeling. don't let the hobby take over your life or your wallet.

for me its not really about too much money. i think im just bored with buying something and then putting it into storage.

My wife knows that my collection is worth money.
It's currently in storage... because I have a 2nd son on his way, and my 2 year old is REALLY into Transformers. I'm sure if he got hold of any of my joes, they would all need an o-ring replacement.
I have everything organized so that it's easy to identify. If I die, my life insurance is good enough so that my wife can give my entire collection to my sons... when they are old enough.

I just got rid of almost my entire collection of loose Star Wars prequel figures because I needed to make room.
Best decision I've made! More room for JOES!!!
