hahahaha!

I just got my comic pack Storm Shadow (from the firefly set) and just read the comic....oh MAN!!

Did anyone else read this? Did anyone else find the fact that the characters explain EVERY SINGLE move they are doing or about to do HILARIOUS?!?!

....but when Storm Shadow flew through the air yelling "UZI TIME!!"...man that was it for me,I was in stitches!

p.s.Why is Stormy wearing a Cobra symbol on his head when hes clearly a Joe in this comic? He even mentions his "friends" Tripwire and Tunnel Rat!

explaining what they are doing (or thinking it out) + non-stop military acronyms was one of the great things I loved about G.I.Joe.... when I was nine. All the comic packs are tremendously difficult to read, I hope LH is just making these 'kid-friendly' and this isn't a sample of what we'll get with the comic re-boot.

Sounds like something out of an anime or fighting game.

Storm Shadow to Dice: "...and i would move those fingers if you want your nose-picking capabilities to continue unabated"

Dice:"..a throwing star will fix your attitude"

SS to Firefly: "but i have to evade and reload"

Firefly: "good time to change magazines aswell"

SS: "uh-oh wheres that spare clip?"

Firefly: "Luckily,i secure MINE with VELCRO!"

SS :"thats a no-no for ninjas-too noisy!"

Firefly: "Jammed my chamber! but you threw away your sword!"

SS: "thats okay,ive got TWO"

Firefly: "and now I'VE got the one you threw!"

I have to admit that the quality of these comic pack comics has been really low. I just finished reading the Destro/Iron Grenadier one and I don't even know what the hell I read. Apparently there were several squads of Cobra troops hiding around Destro's home, waiting to attack while the Joes kept watch. Destro runs off to meet his neighbor and to have a nowhere conversation, and the new Iron Grenadier recruit drives about the grounds with his head up his ass as he passes all the obvious Cobra hideouts. Then the comic just ends with no resolution and no real story at all.

Maybe this is the new direction he wants to take the IDW comic series.

I must confess that I never read the comic from the 'comic packs' as I'm after the figures and nothing else. It usually goes straight in the bin in fact.
After reading this thread I think I made the right choice.

I gotta say, reading this thread makes me feel MUCH better. I only watched the cartoon growing up and for YEARS now, even before I got back into collecting Joes with the 25th line, I'd heard people speak about Larry Hamma as if he was the Second Coming, so my expectations were pretty high for these comic packs and MAN was I let down. I've stopped reading them because all I can think is "THIS is the guy all that hype was about? REALLY?!"

They are aimed at kids. My 8 year old loves them.

Just read that one last night. I gotta say, it was pretty terrible.

Why the hell would he mess with the fanbase that has kept him employed for like 20 years?

I think Hasbro wanted him to have the comics be more kid friendly. So therefore it sucks for us, but is great for children who Hasbro hopes will help the Joe line stay strong.

I highly doubt the IDW series will be aimed at young kids. I am sure it will be aimed more towards the adult reader.

The original Marvel series was 'aimed at kids' though wasn't it? It still managed to be remarkably mature at times (in the proper sense of the word too, not just 'violent' and 'dark' all the time like some other comics that try to be "grown up")

The Destro/IG story takes place before an issue in the Marvel run (I can't remember the #) where CC attacks Destro. If you haven't read the Marvel issue, this one really doesn't make sense.

I think Hama is making these kid friendly (I hope) and explaining all the accessories or lack there of. If this is what the new run is going to be like, then it won't be good at all.

I like this issue a lot.
