I have a good GI Joe retail experience to post about today.
Normally I have to go to places like Wal-Mart or such to ever even hope to find GI Joe. But just as luck goes, I found all 3 of the GI Joe Wave 4 Comic 2 Packs today.
I happened to be out driving (a normal Sunday afternoon thing) today and thought I would stop in Alco to check out there toy section. Now normally I just do a quick glance and go about my business. However, today I noticed they were rearranging their toy section. So, I just had to take a look see.
A little back story here:
Alco in my area has never had GI Joe to my knowledge, not even CORPS action figures. Just really crappy knock offs, not even worth thinking to buy. Before Alco we had TG&Y, and to be honest they were a great store. I bought many a GI Joe there as a kid with my lawn mowing money. But they went out of business, at least in my area and there came Alco in its place. That of course has probably been close to 15 years ago. So, non the less I had to go elsewhere to find GI Joe and get my "plastic fix". (I love that saying BTW, I have no idea who mentioned it, but I love it and thank you).
I noticed they did not have a price tag, so I asked an associate to check it out for me. He politely took an item and said "you bet, be right back". He came back and told me "$10.99". I thought that was cool and put them in my buggy and told him "thanks man". They are a dollar cheaper at Wal-Mart, but that is 30 miles away and they probably do not have this wave anyway.
I asked him why they have GI Joe after all these years. He then told me the new Store Manager is looking to re-do things and get better product in the store. He also mentioned now their sales are better and they can get better toy stuff. He also told me every Friday they get a truck and to be there in the afternoon, because more then likely that is when they would be stocked and if he was there he would keep my in mind. I told him thank you of course. I told don't hold them for me anything, but at least be sure they get on the shelf for the collectors. He said he sees a lot Hot Wheels Collectors and helps them to. He said Collectors are what make a Toy Department a Toy Department.
I just want to let everyone know out there, this was a great associate and a very friendly fellow. It is nice to see someone out there who thinks of us. I know a lot of you and myself have bad experiences, but this one seems to make up for them all.
Anyway I just wanted to share this little thing. I hope it gives some of you some faith.
