Ahh, yes that one word changes everything :) I have no idea, but I remember seeing at least 2 of them on the bottom shelf at a store in Buffalo, New York that christmas. I didn't get to go into the toy aisle so I don't even know how big the box was, but my Definat is huge even now so I can only imagine how big it was when I was 8 :)

call me crazy but i like to keep mine up right, but with the cover closed. also i need to throw down some cash for the drivers. maby some day i can get what i need to make it 100% i say mine is at 96%. but all my stickers look great i dont think we ever will get a new one. the whole joe in space was kinda of silly if u think about it. kinda like gi joe meets star wars in a non sw bashing way, cus im into sw i just dont care for the figuers but i do owen a few.

I don't have one but would love to add it to my collection. I don't mind building from the ground up either. Any one in Dallas have one to sell?
As for the amount produced, I would think that if you took the amount of TRUs in operation at the time and multiplied that by 2.5 and then doubled that number to account for other stores caryying it (not a TRU exclusive from what I recall), then you could get a generic idea of how many might have been made. I just shudder at the fact that so many Joe things have probably found their way into dumpsters over the years. Makes me sad.
EDIT: Oh, and BTW, as far as the Defiant or Flagg getting re-made for the "new" modern line... I would think Hasbro would gauge how well the AT-TE and BMF (Big Millennium Falcon) sell, and adjust for line sales of Star Wars compared to Joe and then use that as a starter to decide if they can make the 2 coolest Joe vehicles/playsets happen.

I am a proud papa of the Defiant and both figures, complete with all blueprints, accessories (like the umbilical cord), weapons (including Hardtop's mic and gun), and file cards since July 20. Now it cost me a pretty penny, about $557.59, shipped. Yeah, its a lot, but I have wanted one since 1987. The figures alone are about $100 each complete w/filecards and I have seen the complex complete go for well more than $300 complete. I rationalized that would be cheaper purchasing together than separately. Had to cut back on 25th but I still get excited every time I get home from work and see it.

I'm sorry to say that that's exactly where all my vintage Joe vehicles and playsets ended up after my parent's divorce. Sadly the Terrordrome was one of the many victims.

I wish I could say I had one, it's a pretty sweet and and detailed set, but I haven't gotten around to purchasing one yet. Part of the reason is I already saved up quite alot to buy a Flagg, and I'll be recovering from that for a long...long time.

email this man rubenldm@rocketmail.com, he sells a lot of repo stickers. The Defiant stickers coast $16.99. He does not have a web page so you will need to email him for a complete list of sticekrs he has to sell.
I bought many stickers from him and they look better then the originals. I waiting on my Defiant stickers that I ordered as well as a set for the Flagg.

I had gotten it for xmas. The box was pretty huge. I would estimate that what was said above by each TRU 2.5 then double it for the other stores. I would guess probably 5000. Maybe. I know mine "santa" bought from JCpenny. : > The only reason I know this was that I had assembled the whole thing and when I went to snap the wheels in the last wheel I went to put on the injection model didn't get full all the way and the wheel couldn't snap on. Funny story is we took it back and got another one. This one had the same problem and we then took that back and I decided it wasn't meant to be. Then when I got home later that night I noticed Snake eyes back pack and sword were missing. This was the v2 long gone out of stores. So I figured that it had to have fallen in the box since he did some "scouting" on the defiant before it got boxed up. SO off to Penny's and when we got there a lady that worked there went to see if the defiant was still in the back. Low and behold she comes out with the huge box and we dig down to the bottom of it and find Snake Eyes backpack. Whew! close one. :>

Personally I don't know how many were made and never saw one still in person. I'm thankful to a good friend of mine who is a member of a tanker. He gave me uss flagg, terror drome, and what was supposed to be 2 defiant but one got lost or stolen in mail on way to his home.(one was for myself and the other was for parts to fix the one for myself then use the 2nd one for cobra shuttle but that plan failed) I have yet to pick them up but we both are always busy however I will envuntally get them sooner or later. Can't wait to see and own my very 1st defiant!

Back in the day, I never really got the coolness of the Defiant or the USS Flagg. The Terror Drome was badassery at its finest and even the weird armadillo-looking mobile GI Joe base was cool. But the others were just ... meh.

My favorite of all time was my Flagg and Killer whale. All of the time spent playing with them is still fondly remembered. I wish that Hasbro would just open direct to consumer on what they want to make. Like a preorder. and judging by the number of requests would decide to make it or not. Forget the middle man and just sell directly to us. :>
