View Full Version : What new TV shows have you watched this season.

What new shows have you watched and either loved it or hated it?
Charlies Angels - I just want to say it sucks... it horribly sucks!!! It has one of the worst script/ story line writing I have ever seen. So I was surprised that Miles Millar was attached to it. I heard it is getting ready to get the axe. The show had good promise and the premise had potential but the scripts are just horrible. Also, I HATE the new Bosley.
Pan Am - This show I loved. It brings you back to the days when flying in airlines was actually one of the best parts of the trip. "The golden age of airliners". The stories are pretty interesting. This show I highly recommend.
How to be a gentleman - I'll give it one more try. The first episode was nothing new. Two guys trying to be more like the other. It's Perfect Strangers 2011 only less funny.
Two Broke Girls - I have to admit I only watch this because I think the blonde is cute. But it's like the writers thought, "Okay, what would happen if Paris Hilton all of a sudden go broke and she hangs out with one of the girls from Mel's diner." It has it's moments but overall another take it or leave it show.

I thought Pan Am kinda sucked. I liked the retro feel, but it felt too much like a soap opera rather than a straight drama.
I still have yet to watch the second ep of Person of Interest...the pilot had me interested, but still not sold.
Looking forward to AMC's new western show.
So far I'm still just latching on to previous shows I watch, and not that many.
Mostly cartoons, Castle, Fringe, Walking Dead, Justified, and ..........that's about it.
Waiting for Mad Men to return.......

Only thing new I tried is Terra Nova. Im still on the fence about it.
BBC's The Hour, which proved to be excellent.
I watched Terra Nova's pilot but not the second episode. That probably says it all.

Nothing.
Seriously I recall when waiting for the TV Guide Fall Preview was an event, I would read every new show and circle dates on the calender for when what I was hoping to see came on.
Now? I could care less.
1st...anything reality or reality based is out...I don't care.
2nd...any contest show, dancing, baking, trapped on an Island I don't care.
3rd...anything Vampire, Teen Angst, underaged teens changing partners endlessly and holding sercrets...I don't care.
What does that leave?
New drama or comedy shows...and honestly those things get cancelled in a heartbeat...the last network show I tried was V, and that was shuffled around ABC schedule so badly it was cancelled.
No its just not worth investing in any new shows, I'd rather wait til it has a proven track record and is on for awhile...at worst if it lasts a season or two before cancellation I can nab it on DVD and finish the show at my leisure instead of watching episodes show at random time slots or out of order or not at all.
I recently have found myself back tracking shows like...
-Memphis Beat
-Leverage
-The Closer
-Big Bang Theory
-Two and a Half Men
All of these shows have been on for some time now and are running in repeats now while new season run...that's what I tend to watch.

We're a bit behind here but even then, there are few 'new' shows that interest me. Really liked THE CHIGACO CODE and am a bit mad they yanked it after one season (at least Shawn Ryan actually brought it to a proper close, though)
Other than that, I'm sticking with what I know I like (various Law and Orders, House, Warehouse 13, Leverage)

Some things, well let's face it most things that have already been done and done well - worked due to a number of variables to make the winning formula and to repeat it right is VERY difficult.
Too many rehashes from so called "writers"
OT: not aware of any new shows I've watched.

Sadly though I see this as its last season unless Ashton Kutcher stops being Kelso, & starts being his own kind of Charlie.

Terra Nova - still watching
2 Broke Girls - unwatchable despite Kat Dennings
Ringer - a very cheap looking show. Didn't continue after the first episode.
Up All Night - couldn't get on board.
The New Girl - still watching. When it's funny, it's funny. When it's not, though, it's definitely not. Hoping for more consistency.
Whitney - I have no idea how it got picked up for a full season. Seems like a 90's sitcom. I find the guy funny, but she's very unlikable.
Prime Suspect - It's alright. It's got the guy from Saving Grace in it and it's hard to not think of the show as Saving Grace minus religion, but I like Maria Bello and a lot of the supporting cast members so I'll keep watching for now.
I still watch plenty of returning shows - HIMYM, Community, Big Bang Theory, Parks & Rec, The Office, Glee, Parenthood, Dexter, Hawaii 5.0, Modern Family, and Fringe (and I'm anxiously awaiting the new season of Mad Men).

Whitney - Yeah, I was hoping it would be good, I really wanted it to be. I really liked her on the Roasts. But its almost painful to watch, I think we FINALLY turned it off halfway through the 2nd or 3rd episode. I dont like the dude either, his delivery sucks and for some reason he looks like he always about to laugh, and hes a dope. Yeah, she doesnt seem very likeable either and all the secondary characters suck. All the jokes feel forced.
New Girl - Love it, still watching it, not going to stop.
Up All Night - Pretty funny, nice to see Christina on TV again and whats-his-face is funny.
Kind of wished we watched Two Broke Girls, maybe its On Demand.
Loving the old favorites - The Office, some thing big needs to happen, feels like they are coasting. BIG BANG THEORY, looking forward to more.
I cant wait for THE LEAGUE to come back later this month, that show is hilarious.

I was going to check out RINGER because Sarah Michelle Geller is worth watching but, on UK Sky TV at least, the entire plot of the show is laid out in the DAMN TRAILER!!! I really don't think I need to watch the actual show itself...
Oh and of course, COMMUNITY. Even if last week's episode was arses.

Oh and of course, COMMUNITY. Even if last week's episode was arses.
Really? I loved it! I thought it was right up there with the best of them. Brita's unwarranted righteous indignation was on full display. And that gag with the straw was one of the funniest things I've ever seen - it had me on the floor. Not to mention the fart gag was the gift that kept giving. I loved that episode!
Also I forgot to mention Strike Back and Homeland. Strike Back is awesome and I can't wait for more. Homeland was ok, but I feel like they showed their hand way too early. And I don't get why Claire Danes' character has to be a nut job. If anything it just makes me wish 24 was back. And then I watch Strike Back, which is like 24-Jack Bauer+boobs.
I just felt like last week's Community was a parody of a Community episode. Weirdness for its own sake, rather than because it was funny or whatever.

I've watched Strike Back on Cinemax from the first episode, and I'm definitely a fan. It's got tons of action and pretty decent plots.
I started watching Torchwood: Miracle Day on Starz, but didn't make it past a couple of episodes.
I also started watching Alphas on the Syfy channel, but got bored with it.
I forgot all about Terra Nova until I saw something about it online, and I just caught up with episode 3 on Hulu. It's intriguing enough for me to watch the next episode, although something better change fast or else I'll loose interest.
It's not a new show, as it's first season ended a month ago or so, but I like the show Falling Skies. It's alright. Comes on TNT.

You aren't the only one watching it. I love it though, it started off slow and then "The Swede" being ultra-WTF-creepy scrubbing his floors naked in the clip montage was freakin' insanely awesome because it came out of nowhere. Also, the part where Common's character shot the super racist through the mouth was hilariously awesome. And Bohannon beating the crap out of "The Swede" with the belt was pretty funny as well.
The line that made me stick around was from Mr. Durant.
Durant: "How do you put your trousers on, son?"
Bohannon: "Sir?"
Durant: "Over those big balls of yours."

I mean seriously first I'm done with anything reality the only thing in that realm I watch is Face Off and mainly for the creativity I don't care who wins.
And I have no interest in any of the new comedy shows, and drama....sorry I'm just not getting involved in a show that gets cancelled 6 to 10 episodes in.
I'll stick with Family GUy, American Dad, Cleveland Show, Adult Swim shows Leverage, American Horror Story (which I am worried about that this year), Walking Dead, and Hell on Wheels...and of course WWE...beyond that TV is just awful, or debuting to be cancelled.

.
If you liked the concept of Revolution and you read. You should check out "Dies The Fire" by S. M. Stirling. Same exact concept an "event" happens and all electricity is lost and sends the world back to medieval times. There is about 6 books in the series (I'm on 4) "What" causes the event is still not revealed but supernatural.
Another book along the same lines is "One Second After" by William Forschten. An EMP knocks out electricity in America and shows what might happen after. This book is more of a "real what if" rather than a fantasy book.
As for "Last Resort" I don't know if I like the concept but I will give it a try.

Yeah, I started watching Revenge last year as well. I think it's a great show. Almost every time you thought someone was going to get caught something would happen, and most of the time they wouldn't. They would add another twist to the story. So it was just another piece to puzzle that would get added and revealed. Another show that I have on my radar is Arrow. I would've just liked them to use the guy from Smallville, but hey if it's good it really won't matter.

IMO it is like the movie Air Force One... the hijackers new they had to stay in the air... if they landed they were screwed cuz then they could be assaulted. I had the same feeling with Last Resort... they should have stay underwater IMO.

I hope it doesn't go downhill but with most shows it seems to be inevitable. Them going to the island was going to have to happen anyway. I think it can be good for the show. There in a bad position, but with that move they can buy some time. The Captain has shown that he's just crazy enough for them not to take him lightly.

IMO the best Nuclear War/Nuclear Missile Launch movie I have ever seen is By Dawn's Early Light (1990)...

I haven't had a chance to get into a new show recently, but am really looking forward to Fox's the Following with Kevin Bacon early next year.
I like "Arrow". I liked the first few seasons of "Smallville", and this reminds me a lot of that. He's a much better Green Arrow than the one they had on Smallville. They've really used "Batman Begins" as a blueprint. I just wish it wasn't directed at teens so much. That's really the only new show I've bothered watching. With "Rescue Me" being gone, and "The Office" wrapping up this year, all I'll be left with soon is "Parks and Rec" and "Supernatural".

Last Resort is done. The series finale for it was good. 666 Park Avenue's final episodes won't be aired until we reach the summer. I'm not really sure why that's the case because, the same network cancelled Last Resort and wrapped it up a few weeks. I'm not sure why the network decided not to do the same for Park Ave.
