Its been done a million times, but I was actually thinking about this the other day so here is my two cents again.

Should be single player, in the vein of Gears of War or Space Marine. A seamless blend of shooter and melee, and a little over the top. Have certain characters only available for certain missions; Duke or somebody similar for a standard assault, SE or similar for infiltration, Roadblock for all out chaos. Upgrade your weapons and melee moves. Vehicles. Cobra bonus missions.

Multiplayer sells games today. Greenshirts vs Blueshirts. Leveling and loadouts similar to CoD. But as you progress in rank you unlock higher ranked soldiers with more perks.

Blueshirt---Viper---Crimson Guard
Greenshirt---Steel Brigade---Steel Brigade Delta

Different loadouts can create diff characters, so through customization you can become a HEAT Viper or SAW Viper or specialized SB troops.

Get a killstreak to use a "hero" character for a limited time, ala SW Battlefront. Get 3 kills and use Gung Ho or Metal Head. Get 10 kills and get SE or SS. Hero classes, in addition to being more powerful, will provide bonuses to nearby teammates to encourage teamplay. Duke can increase the health of nearby players. SE can make teammates blurry and hard to see. Roadblock gives everybody more damage. Etc etc etc

I think i understand what you are trying to say. The first GIJoe game was fine as a concept but the execution wasn't up to par. The same game, with better angles and graphics would have been cool. The last thing i want to see is a GIJoe FPS. This would be an insta-fail in today's highly competitive FPS market.

I think i would prefer the Marvel Ultimate Alliance style of character swapouts and upgrades, but tighten up the gameplay and graphics. I wasn't a big fan of WH40K:SM myself, but that was mostly nitpicking details from the view of a WH40K tabletopper.

First person is a terrible idea for GI Joe. I love FPS but with Joe you need to see the character you are controlling. That's what Joe is about, the different characters. In first person you see a gun. Snake Eyes and Roadblock would be identical. Not to mention you can't have the crazy kicks, flips and sword play in first person. 3rd person would be perfect.

Im a stranger to the WH40K world, I just enjoy the gameplay. I like that 3rd person over the top bloodfest style.

Ive only played one UA game but it was pretty good. Maybe Ill go rent it again and see whats up; its been a while.

Im sticking to my guns on my multiplayer ideas though.

I'm not going to hold my breath, but it would be nice if a game company would really put some time into the game and not just throw it together. I'd like to see hidden characters that you'd only get with codes, and really great graphics driven by a compelling storyline.

It's good to have hopes.

The problem with a GIJoe FPS is that it has to compete with established FPS at the top of their game. No GIJoe FPS is going to beat MW or CoD. So making a GIJoe FPS is going to be a losing proposition.

Drop the FPS idea people. GIJoe is about the characters, a FPS format wont work unless youre using a sniper zoom

I would love a Joe game with game-play similar to Metal Gear or some aspects of Tenchu. I love the idea of stealth kills with SE but I doubt that would ever happen. Maybe something similar to Batman: Arkham Asylum possibly...

This would work with a spinoff game centered around the arashikage, but with so many characters in a mainline joe game, you just couldn't afford to focus on an indepth stealth system. Plus, there are alot of folks who hate stealth games.

Sadly, that's not possible if they want to marry up the timeline of the movie with the game (which drops in eight months or so...a VERY short time for game development). Like most movie tie-in/licensed games, we're going to get a rush-job piece of mediocre software. That's assuming there's a game at all, of course.

If we want a "good" Joe game it'll have to be something like Arkham Asylum: Not in terms of gameplay, but in terms of being a licensed game that is not tied to a particular piece of media (and so doesn't have to "sync up" to its' release), and is created by a group of people that clearly have a great love of the characters and their mythos. Unfortunately it's a chicken-and-egg argument as we probably won't get something like this until Joe as a franchise becomes much more popular.

In terms of gameplay, I stand by my belief that something akin to the old Battlefront system, where you could switch between multiple characters in 3rd-person view, each with unique abilities, and still had options for vehicular, multiplayer, and air-to-air combat, would be the best sort of thing to base a Joe game around. I don't know if that's what Battlefield plays like (I haven't played the Battlefield games) , but I think that would encompass pretty much all the most important (commercially speaking) aspects of Joe.

Bring back side scrolling shooters in the style of Contra, but with 4 players simultaneously.

When Battlefield 1942 first came out, somebody made a GI Joe mod for it and they were able to release a beta version of it. If you were a Joe you had the Joe cartoon rifles and if you were Cobra you had the cartoon Cobra rifle. In it you can drive a RAM, a Skyhawk, and a VAMP and on the Cobra side you can fly a FANG and drive a Stinger.

The developers had pictures of a Conquest and I think a Rattler for the final release. But unfortunately HASBRO's lawyers sent them a cease and desist and a final version was never released.

I hope if they do make a game they will base it off of that platform. Below is a link to the mod:

Ideally I'd love to play a G.I. Joe RTS game (Command & Conquer/Starcraft), but otherwise I think a third person shooter like "Gear of War", "Warhammer 40K: Space Marine", or "Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City" would be the best path to take.

The best model Hasbro should use for a G.I. Joe video game should be one they've already made with Activision's help based on another of their properties. "Transformers: War For Cybertron" is a great action game and the perfect model for a good G.I. Joe one. Split the game into two campaigns, one for the Joes and one for COBRA, offer a variety of characters on both sides to choose from, and for multi-player (as SVT_COBRA suggested) offer Joe and COBRA troop types for the player to unlock. So in the campaign you get to fight as the unique, named characters and in multi-player you can fight as each faction's troops.
