So I thought this show would be terrible. But I'm an hour in and I can't stop watching it. It's not the greatest show but it sure is entertaining. Anyone else watching it?

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz! Underwhelming, predictable, boring, poor background paintings, $4 million dollars for that? Spielberg's name is attached to only sell the show. He's not really involved. An earlier pilot episode was shown to critics, but was nixed by an army of so called executive producers. This is what you get with too many cooks. This felt more like a Discovery channel show. Cute teens make good dino food. Cancelled in the first season.

Not sure I appreciate the message of the show: Don't bother changing our polluting ways, just pop back into the past and do it all over (c'mon, we're humans - Since when did we "learn from our mistakes"? Of course we WILL make the same balls-ups all over again)
Also, a story in UK sci-fi comic 2000 AD over thirty years ago dealt with similar themes. In "FLESH", people travelled back in time to hunt Dinosaurs for their meat, as people were starving in the future.
Besides, I predict an expensive pilot that descends into soap opera by epsiode four-ish.

I barely heard of this show, but I saw it advertised on youtube and by sheer coincidence decided to watch it last night, and let me just say, OMG am I glad I did!
This show is awesome! Like others have said its sorta like a combination of Avatar and Jurassic Park. I loved it, and I can't wait till next Monday to see the new episode.
BTW, I kept thinking how awesome the vehicles and characters would be as toys!
Wouldn't that be awesome if Hasbro put out Terra Nova figures in joe construction!? and vehicles that are compatible with joes!

Show is okay. Just wonder what they are going to do when the big meteor hits.

Show is okay. Just wonder what they are going to do when the big meteor hits.
That event would be 20,000,000 years in their future and, as such, not really a concern - I think by then the humans should have either wiped themselves out through bickering or evolved enough to go off into space and leave Earth behind to it's natural progress.

Well depending on what time in the cretaceous period they are the could have up to 80 million years before that extinction event, that is assuming in this timeline the extinction event will happen at the same time, or happen at all.
I like the show. The effects aren't great, but guns and dinosaurs means I'll continue watching as long as the story doesn't run away with itself.

Someone already nailed it for me: Boring & predictable. I thought it looked HORRIBLE! We've had better CG for 10 years so if youre going to do this big of a show, you BETTER get it right. I think its a joke. "V" got canned and that show was more entertaining. If they dont clean it up some, it shouldnt last past a couple seasons at the most.
I REALLY tried to like it, but I found myself channel surfing often.

I should add there are huge holes in the plot that are not explained. How did dad escape prison with a just a laser? How did the teens escape the colony undetected? How did the teens get a vehicle outside the fence? Humans shot at the dinos and none died?
Humans being humans will bring their baggage and old habits and muck up the place. Why was the focus of this pilot on the family? The elder daughter was some hipster geek. A female Wesley Crusher?
A more interesting story would have been how the earliest colonists survived. Be it in the americas, space, mars, or the ancient past. Instead we land in a cushy Club Med resort. Perhaps they'll tell that story in flashback.
This is hardly new. Amazon and Earth 2 dealt with similar story of colonies separated from the modern world. Expected so much more.

I liked it. At least its an alternate timeline so they wont mess up the earths timestream and adversely affect the future.

I liked it as well, it seems like they have a semi decent cast and a good concept with room for growth.

It was okay. I guess I fell for the build up and hype, so it let me down a little, story wise and character wise.

I enjoyed the pilot a lot and plan to watch regularly.
Yes, there are plotholes and gaps in the logic of the show. Sure, it is a mix of Jurassic Park, Lost and Avatar. Ok, I agree the CGI seemed like it was done before "Walking with Dinosaurs".
But, DAMMIT, I enjoyed it! And to watch Stephen Lang play such a total badass on a weekly show just puts this in the category of hell yes. (I have been a fan of this guy since I saw the movie "Band of the Hand" and the TV series "Crime Story" in the 80's. Check them out, it's great!).
After watching the pilot, I kinda wish that Stephen Lang had been cast as Nick Fury in the Marvel Studios films!
OH YEAH, and that Warthog looking vehicle looked like the Vamp Mark II!!!

I just find the whole premise fundamentally flawed - Either we take back all our petty, cynical dog-eat-dog tribal ways back in time with us, or there's no room in the plot for conflict.
Ultimately, humans advance because of agression and the need to push onwards & outwards. Conflict is our greatest motivator and if we're taking all that with us, there's little chance of doing anything 'different' the second time around.
Sure, it's just a TV show, but the idea isn't as clever (or original) as the creators seem to think.

I find the drama and conflict shallow. It's colony vs 6ers or humans vs dinos. Ughhh. These lucky few just won the lottery. They seem such an ungrateful self-absorbed lot. They left behind their families and a dying world. No remorse, no guilt. And landed in paradise as if nothing happened.

With everything that needed to be established in the pilot, can you really say that based on just the one episode?
I'm sure things will be addressed as the show develops.
I thought it was predictable, by-the-numbers, written-by-committee, check-box TV.

I started watching the re-telecast last night... loved the futuristic world beginning part that kinda looked like Blade Runner, but then once they made it to Terra Nova I started to lose interest... and then once that teenage son kid started acting all emo towards his dad I couldn't handle it and had to change the channel. LOL. I was all like, "Dude... there's freaking dinosaurs outside... just chill." LOL.

Saw the second episode………..what a bore. The colony is attacked by flock of flying dinos that have returned to nest. OMG! Teens make good dino food. Nerdy girl pines for soldier. OMG! This is as bad as the first season of TNG.

Differences in scale.
It's like comics and the different publishers.
A sell-out at Image is like 8k copies. A sell-out at Marvel is like 50k copies.

I agree it had sloppy writing, but I liked the show. I think that Stephen Lang played a truly bad@ss character with his Nathaniel Taylor. His cranky disposition, his outfit/holster and the vehicle he drove around in were pretty cool. I'm sure that some talented customizer could put a cool figure of him together!
But, I just read today that Netflix is interested in picking up the show because they are looking to offer some original content!
Read about it here: 'Terra Nova': A future with Netflix? | Inside TV | EW.com (http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/03/07/terra-nova-a-future-with-netflix/)
I know I'm a little late, but....
The last I heard they were looking for better writers. This show would be really good if they did that. The lagging pace was what really bothered me.
According to the above article, 10 millions viewers on average? Sheesh, bring it back fox! That ins't enough?

Fox expects every show on their network to carry the same amount of viewers as shit like American Idol for every episode. If not, they're quick to cancel it.

Such an over-hyped show when it debuted. Every hollywood A lister was attached to this turd, even Speilberg. Critics raved about it. Talk about pre-mature ejaculation.
