View Full Version : Clone Wars Movie
Man I need to see this. I'm a huge star wars fan and this movie looks like it'll be awesome. But I had questioned should be live action or CG. I found a few clips searching the star wars website and they look really good. I'm assured this movie will be good either way.
the clips were also on youtube

I don't see anymore live action SW movies coming out anytime soon, *much more involved* but could however see this movie setting a trend of things to come.
SW is still alive and kicking and with the success of the upcoming Clone Wars don't be surprised to see more animated flicks that fill in the gaps of Post- ROTS/Pre-A New Hope and so forth. Those will even be bigger hits then Clone Wars if they end up getting made, and that I'd like to see.
I personally can't get into the animated stuff, but i can't dispute the fact that it has it's fan base and will make money. LOTS...From an advertising standpoint alone, the midnight madness, all the Toys, toys, toys... it just continues to make boatloads of cash.
SW is a money machine and i just can't see them stopping after Clone Wars.

I'm a huge SW fan also, whether it's live-action, animated/CGI, or comic's and on 8/15, I'll be there for CW. Closes we'll see to more live-action, will be the upcoming SW live-action tv show, which is still some time away. Although, I read awhile back, Lucus has not ruled out letting someone do more live-action movies, but they would be be during the Knights of the Old Republic era or earlier.
yeah I was at the store first thing in the morning to pick up all the new star wars figures. I believe I got a few duplicates. I also got all the joe comic packs I was looking for plus a few singles. that day I spent a little over two hundred bucks on just the star wars alone. And so did a whole bunch of other people. I'll see anything related to star wars and the clone wars movie is definitely another movie I'll be at the midnight showing for. I almost wanted to see a live action clone wars movie though, saying that they already had already made a cartoon series. the CG clips I've seen so far have already won me over. The 2010 live action series I hope will be really good. I just wish I could see some stuff on it.

Sorry to bump but I didnt want to make a new thread....
I saw it today (2 hour download, wooo!).
I dont see the hate on the film. Its only slightly schitzo on the plot. It goes from war, to kidnapping, to Jedi vs Sith, to cutesy chase to.....what?
The pluses:
Hayden ISNT Anakin. THANK GOD.
Anakin isnt emo or angsty.
New Padawan and the first time a Padawan is mentioned in an SW media since Episode II
Rather snazzy Obi Wan vs Asajj scene
The minsues (word?):
Another plothole (Jabba meets everyone in episode IV-VI)
Obi Wan is rather arrogant.
Dooku is whooped by Anakin?!
No Yoda fights
No Mace Windu fights
Points of this movie are great, some are rather slow. Commander Cody and Captain Rex are nice additions.
4.0/5

I think Lucas was trying to get some money back lost on the repackaged toys that are MAJORLY overpriced in the vehicle department.
When Legos ar cheaper then an action figure toy....theyre overpriced.

It was ok, I think the thing to keep in mind is that above all it is a kids movie that paves the way for the new CN series. All in all I thought it was ok.

I just watched a friend play 3 hours of The Force Unleashed and get past the crazy spider-legs Jedi level and that was many times more entertaining and enjoyable than "The Clone Wars," and that's the opinion of one who fancies himself a big Star Wars fanboy.

Not to produce. A new DVD here is $19.96. A date will cost me $19.50 just to get into the theatre...
....46 cents more, I get a 2 disc DVD with extras, in the privacy of my own home without screaming kids.

Watched the premiere of the show tonight. The first part of the Yoda episode was tedious but it picked up. Really like the second episode. It had some grim mature moments to make up for the slapstick battle droids and Ahsoka Tano (who I am hoping, hoping, hoping gets skewered at season's end by Dooku, Grievous, and/or Asajj Ventress). Plo Koon's voice, not surprisingly, was not what I expected...anticipating a more digitized rasp through his mask, but that was OK. They're treating the clones more as individual characters and not just cannon fodder.
All in all, these two episodes were better than the film (which I guess were the first four/five episodes).
I also liked how the ion blasts paid homage to the first Star Trek film.

i woulda been behind this more if the animation wasnt so damn blocky like the old mini sodes things were. I liked those stories but i despise that animation. It works for like johnny bravo and dexters lab but leave it out of the cartoons that're supposed to be serious. Its like no cartoon can have any realistic proportions anymore. I would liked shows like JLU, SUPERMAN, clone wars, Teen Titans, and the many others done liek this if the animation wasnt so stupid looking.

What I dont understand...Episode 3 to Episode 4 is what? 19 years? Then what? 2 years between Episode 4 and 5. Then 1 year between Episode 5 and 6
So in 22 years, Yoda goes from unstoppable object taking on Palpatine, misc bad guys, Dooku....to barely able to lift an X-Wing out of the mud?
I think Lucas tried too much between Episode 2 and Episode 4. Too much history.

If Im not mistaken he was mentioned to be 800 years old in ESB then jumped to 900 in RotJ. I think it was a writing error. God knows Lucas couldnt write dialog for porn..
Authors who expanded Episodes 1-3 mentioned that age DOES play a factor with Jedi HUMANS, but didnt mention non-human Jedi. So Yoda can be 800-900 years old and in the last 25 falls apart like a 10 year old Ford pickup truck?
...unless they write something into the Clone Wars series here to show perhaps he gets diminished. I noticed him a bit winded when fighting Palpatine in Episode 3 compared to fighting Dooku, where he barely broke a sweat. 'Course fighting a war for 3-4 years...

Yoda lost his fights to both Dooku and Palpatine, given more time and better conditions he would have beat them, but he didn't. He was tough, but I never saw him as unstoppable, (the first thing he did after Dooku got away was to grab his cain and Palpatine had him running) And i never saw any difficulty in lifting the x-wing, he just focused on it and did it.

Dooku's goal was to get away and continue the war. the Jedi's goal was to stop him. Dooku got away. He won. If Yoda had been tougher/better he would have been able to stop Dooku (and not let Obi-Wan and Anakin get squished) So, all I mean by that is, even back during the clone wars he wasn't unstoppable. Really really good, but not unstoppable.

Dooku was incomplete. Dooku was going to lose, but to escape he dropped some debris on Obi-wan and Anakin and escaped.
vs Palpatine, he couldnt win. They were matched in skill. Palpatine's only rival was Mace Windu and that was based on Windu's skill with the lightsaber. Palpatine was an amazing saberman but not as great as Windu. Yoda said he failed when he escaped from Palpatine because he couldnt win.

..wait what? That is the worst run down ever. Dooku was attempting to escape and had his chance when he put Obi-Wan and Anakin down. But Yoda interrupted. Then they matched skills. In Force powers, Dooku believed them equal, and in saber fighting Yoda summarily owned him. Which is why Dooku pulled the debris drop on Anakin and Obi-Wan. That doesnt mean Yoda lost, it means Dooku cut-n-run.
Basically, Dooku retreated. Which is what Cobra did in every single episode of GI Joe. Does that mean the Joe's lost? Nope.

If Cobra's goal was only to escape, then yes... the joes lost every time. But that usually wasn't their goal, just the outcome. The joes stopping them from stealing some energy do-hickey was a win. Ugh no no. Windu was the greatest saber weilder at the time. Lucas got so lost in the universe he STARTED and allowed others to expand that he cant even keep it straight. Lucas and his company will allow others to write in the SWU and then just spit in their face and ignore them, screwing over canon, or write subpar stories.
Yoda's goal was to kill Palpatine and end the Sith controlling the Senate. He couldnt do it because Palpatine was an extremely powerful well rounded Sith Lord. Also, the ability to draw on The Force was diminished in Episode 2-3, as stated by Mace Windu. Windu's Force speciality and saber techique are what gave him an edge of Palpatine.

No, seriously, you need to read the official novels. Dooku was a disillusional Jedi Master who fell into the Sith because he thought they had the vision and drive that the Jedi and Senate were lacking. He was called Darth Tyrannus because he was the old powerful lion. Tyrannus' disillusionment aided Palpatine and his goals. Which is why Palpatine killed Dooku and Dooku looked shocked. Sith only have 1 apprentice and Dooku was Palpatine's but Palpatine knew when he recruited Dooku that he was just a player. When Palpatine met Anakin, he began molding him into the apprentice he wanted.
Dooku's goal was to start the war and with the arrival of the Clone Army, before schedule (Obi Wan ran across it by accident), surprised him. Its unknown of Dooku knew about Order 66 but he was leaving because he knew the army of Geonosis would lose. Obi Wan and Anakin intercepted him and Dooku bested them. Anakin gave him a bit of trouble and it winded him. Yoda intercepted him and Dooku ENGAGED YODA and when he realized Yoda was the better, he pulled a trick and ran.
Retreat.
Its what Cobra did.
The fight wasnt complete, but Yoda had it in the bag. If Anaki and Obi Wan werent there, Yoda wouldve ended Dooku.

"would've" ended Dooku. Key word. "would've" I dig Yoda. I've read the books (EU and all) But Dooku still got away (doesn't have anything to do w/order 66 or Anakin eventually whaking him) In that one fight the Jedi wanted to stop Dooku from getting away and they couldn't. So when you say Yoda was unstoppable in the PT and weak in the OT, I just have to disagree. He was 'never' unstoppable. Really really good. But not unstoppable. His final say on the prequel trilogy, while a financial success, are spit upon by his fans.
Lucas can put "Star Wars Rancor Meat" on bologna and saw Luke grew up on it on Tatooine, and its still a bunch of BS.
Star Wars, while popular, was made MORE popular by the Expanded Universe. While Lucas approved it, its 10x better and more fans love the novels and comics then the prequel movies. Lucas decides to write plot holes because he cant remember or choses not to remember what he and his company gave the green light on with the novels, comics, games..
Just because he has the final say, doesnt make it write. Apparently, since he rewrites his own mythos (see Anakin Sith Origin I responded to above)

After the Jedi Sith War, the Sith started the One Master One Apprentice philosophy. And the apprentice would kill the master. It was to keep their presence secret and to build up to destroying the Jedi and ruling the universe.
Anakin has a great story but the tools theyre using for his backstory are so incredibly bad. Like I said, Lucas just rewrote his own mythos. Most likely because people have this fanfic fetish with prequels now. Lucas doesnt write this stuff alone, others fill it in. And like all bad writers, Lucas is just throwing out ideas to expanded the universe and its butchering whats already worked!

weird, I've always thought the same thing with the whole "there was no father" bit. And the balance to the Force prophesy(sp?), when you've got thousands of Jedi and no (known) sith, doesn't seem like a good thing.
My theory: If Lucas had the balls he should have skipped the whole Miniclorians crap and just said that Senator Palpatine was out drinking one night at a little bar on Tatooine known as a hive for local villany & scum. On the way home he saw a young Shmi turning tricks for extra cash (as moisture farming was having a rough season).
He picked up this lady of the night for just a few republic credits. He banged her in the back of his Sith Speeder and dumped her on the curb.
A few years later... Oops... the Coruscant Times reports the senator has a scandalous fling fathering a kid to this Tatooine Slave Girl. Next thing you know the boy is in training to become a Jedi.
That's it! Trade Mark... patent pending... haha.

I see nothing wrong with the whole Miniclorian thing. Palps may have knew of Anakin, but I believe it was Darth Plagius who manipilated the midiclorians to concieve Anakin. EPIII when Palapatine is telling Anakin about Plagius. That Plagius had the ability to create life with the help of the Darkside of the Force(midiclorians), but Palps killed Plagius before he himself could learn the secrets to create life with Darkside.
