Got this guy yesterday. I found it interesting that he came with all of his pouches and buttpack on the figure already, so he wasn't the puzzle that Dusty and the Ninja Viper were to gear up. Simple compared to those two, and I think he could do with at least one more handgun magazine and some frag and smoke grenades, but still very cool looking and easy to get into poses. I'm looking forward to the Desert Sniper that I should be receiving Monday.

One big problem I had with him was that the bayonet doesn't attach properly to his rifle. It looks like it was designed for a different weapon and just tossed on him. So really, he has a small knife instead of a bayonet. Oh well.

Amazing details, I like how angry his face looks. Wish I could buy the Sideshow figures, they would be a lot of fun to do a dio-story with.

The background is a pic I found just by Googling "desert photo" or something. I had it blown up to poster size at Fedex Office with a matte finish.

Within the last 2 weeks, I went from 0 to 5 SSC Joes in my possession. It is how I am treating myself from the work bonus I got this month. I intend to get a couple more before the preorders start come in (I guess end of November with the Viper), and I am working on a desert environment. Dio-stories are definitely in the near future. I am bitten by the Sideshow bug BAD.

If Sideshow decided to do a regular desert trooper they should at least sculpt a new head. I doubt a trooper will be released, but like you I would get one anyway.

The bayonet does fit the AK74 that came with the Cobra Trooper. The AK74u is designed for close quarter combat so it has a shorter barrel.

About the bayonet: Yeah, I just wish the Officer came with more of a knife than a bayonet if there wasn't a bayonet available that fit his rifle. But it is cool. I like the look of the officer but I wish he would of come with spotting gear to go with the sniper. I think I will pass on both and pick up another blue shirt officer and black shirt sniper.

is it just me or weird they call him Cobra Officer but list him as E-4 or equivilant

I think it is kind of silly to equate any Cobra ranks with legitimate military ranks in the first place. But I guess that is to serve as a reference. A Non-Com in the US Military could be a leader or specialist (i.e. sniper) in the Cobra organization.

These were done before I got the officer. This was the positions I was going to display in when I (eventually) get more desert troops. I used the vipers as filler.

The model is a Dragon SAS Desert raider. I was originally going to put Dusty in it. But after test fitting it with the cobra I thought it looked better as a cobra vehicle. The model was bought on e-bay for $100 shipped. There are 2 different ones the model (which should be only $100) or the complete painted one which is around $300.

its nice. Its jut liek the regular cobra officer. But the brown sand base and googles make a nice touch.
