Hey guys, I started a video petition on YouTube to try to get NIke to release the 2011 Nike Mags to the general public. Swing by and participate by leaving a comment and/or a video response.

I really want a pair but I can't afford to pay $5000 for sneakers.

If you look at them like cars, I say put the body on an Air Max chassis and sell them for $150. Id buy them in a heartbeat.

$5,000 doesn't sound unreasonable for a shoe.

In the most recent episode of Pawn Stars on History Channel a dude came into the shop and tried to sell his pair of 2011 Nike Mags... he asked for $10,000. LOL. They give him the "you must be a weirdo" look and offered him $1,500... he walked away somewhat disgusted.

Nikes are too expensive for my tastes. Some are neat tho.

I don't understand the purpose of this petition.

the purpose is to generate enough consumer pressure so that nike releases the same shoe in a retail run, rather than a 1500 piece limited run.

They only made 1500, for charity auction. So the average person has a snowball's chance to get a pair of these shoes.

The op just wants Nike to release the shoe for general retail offering. Perhaps change the deco or something so that the previous limited release retains it's unique-ness.

In Joe terms, he wants a retail release of Sgt. Slaughter.

It's not an unreasonable request. The Mag is a pretty dope designed shoe. It was the same sneaker marty mcfly had in Back to the Future 2 (in the future sequence of course).

I was a dyed in the wool sneaker head for nearly 20 years, then i got up one morning, and just had enough. Nike were never the most scrupulous or best value company around, but in the last few years they've become money grubbing whores. Their level of greed has just gotten out of hand. There is no part of their legacy they will not deviate, defile, or disfigure in order to stripmine your wallet.

I sold off all my sneakers and don't miss them at all.

You know what a petition will do?

Remind Nike how much the shoe is in demand.

They've already thought about a general release. Now, they'll push it back a year from whenever they were going to GR it,
use that year to generate more hype, put the price up, and cut the quality down.

You can't win. Nike will give you less, and make you so grateful, you'll think they're doing you a favor.

They will create so much hype for a GR air mag, unless you have a connect, or are willing to queue all week, the shoe will cost you a lot of money.

Have a look at the re-re-re (re?) Retro of the Concord XIs last week. Riots. Literally. People got the living snot kicked out of them just for a pair of shoes.

....and Michael Jordan is a hypocrite to boot.

i cannot logically dispute most of this statement.

having said that, I have enjoyed the look of the Nike Air Mag since BttF2. Would i buy a pair? Depends on the fit. Probably not as i have sasquatch feet and believe that buying a pair of shoes to look at is a waste of money. Still, it's a damn cool sneaker.
