G.I. Joe Comic #7 Destro & Iron Grenadier

[Shogi]

Destro is the same exact figure we got on a single card at the beginning of the year, but now he has some different colors. His body is a bluish grey with dark grey details. The belt and shoulder spikes are black and the sword is gold with a silver hilt. There are two good color changes here, the pistol is now black and Destro’s eyes have been painted red. This is a nice highlight to the gold vac-metal head. He has the same red cloth cape as the single carded figure. Destro comes with a Sword, Pistol and Cobra stand.

It’s an ok figure & the colors start to grow on you. That is until you bring out the single carded black Destro, then the comic version doesn’t look as cool again. There is a Variant version of this Destro with a black head with red eyes.

The Iron Grenadier is the whole reason to buy this comic pack! The body is mostly an Armored Cobra Commander body just repainted black with red and gold highlights, but even that can’t hold this figure back. There are new lower legs and a brand new head that looks like the original one, only better. There’s a detailed shoulder strap that transforms the torso from Cobra Commander’s into an Elite guard looking torso worthy of the title Iron Grenadier. He has V2 Destro’s belt and sword. The belt is painted red to resemble the deco of the original figure. IG also comes with a small red pistol and large Uzi, both of which look like the original weapons.

This figure is wonderful update to the original and would look great displayed in a mass army or just standing next to Destro.

Good 2 pack. I like the Destro alot more than I thought I would. The IG is very good, not perfect but it's a solid figure.

Good review shogi. I can't wait to get this pack. The only drawback is that if you want to army build IG you will end up with an army of IG Destros too. There must be a way to deal with that.

It was ok. Destro was dueling with an IG, then Baroness does. CC and Mindbender are plotting to attack castle Destro. Destro knows about CC's plan. The joes are sitting back and watching it unfold. Outback hampers Cobra's plan. In the end nothing really happened.

I was thinking, with all those extra Destro's I would get from getting my IG Squad, I'd make some kind of Destro Castle and have the extra Destro spread around as statues of the man himself. Destro looks like he would do something like that.

Yeah, what he said. I really haven't been happy with the new comics, this one didn't even really have an ending. It was like this:

"A day in the life of Destro"

Early morning fencing
Complaining about neighbors
Bickering with said neighbor
Inadvertantly foiling cobra plot
Frozen haggis for dinner

Just went to Wal-Mart a little while ago and lo and behold not one but two CP Black Headed Destros nice and Minty!!! Plus the other Gold heads and the other 2 packs, i.e. Lt. Falcon/Nemisis Enforcer, Tripwire/Cobra Commander. Plus they had the ShipWreck/CopperHead, Red Star/Duke, though they didn't have the FireFly/StormShadow. Had enough $ for two so those are the only one's that I got, the 2 packs that had the Black Headed Destro's!!! Made my night. I figure when I have more money I will get the other two to be caught up on the Comic Packs. Though I don't know if anyone has noticed but Wal-Mart has been recieving alot more cases. I counted 4 cases of the Comic Packs and saw a couple of Wave 9(no B.AT.S & Serpies, those were long gone). :D

I suppose if one wants to do without the sword (On the IG) it'll have to be cut off? Or else remove the belt, but I think it needs the red there to break it up.

Rank and file troops do not carry sabres, and I think they'll look a lot better with the weapon removed.

Anybody read Marvel comics? Dr. Doom always has robot replicas of himself as stand in and as his army - Doombots. I figure all the extra IG Destro's are BAT replicas of the man himself that he uses in much the same way as Dr. Doom from Marvel comics. I am thinking that if I find a Black helmet it will either be Alexander from the DDP comics or an update of Darklon.

I think I might be able to buy up any unwanted Destros if the price was right. How does $3.00 each shipped sound for each complete Destro (with FC)? I know it sucks for 1-2 Destros, but if you had 10 to 20 you could get some cash back. LMK by e-mail or PM.

i'm thinking buying up all those King Miraz (Narnia figs) that are on clearance right now and custom paint it as Iron Grenaiders. :D i'm still not liking these IG right now. except for destro.

My IG is all gimped. The chain holding the saber to the belt is bent the wrong way, he has two club feet, and the red paint is all goopy and chipping away. I tried to take the pistol out of his hand and tons of paint came off. Same with the belt, the elbows, etc. Bah.

yup, did! put the Black head on the single carded Destro, bought a second pack to army build Grenadiers. Used both of the Destros from the 2 packs and popped on Nightwatch troopers heads...they look good as Destros "generals".

Finally found this set for the 1st time EVER today. Still on the hunt for the "Black" Destro varient... (they should have ALL been this way in my opinion) The Gold version is better than anticipated & the IG is pretty cool too, I love the fact they both have swords, & that the IG is not ALL BA CC minus the head...

The comic is a total waste of time though. I hate it as an adult, I can't imagine a kid digging it with all the faux-swank lingo... yuck.

Got two so far and had to reshape the legs with hot water on both. Seriously Hasbro, do we really need the figures in some untra-dramatic pose that's going to bend them completely out of shape in the package? I hope they make a single-carded version.

I liked the IGs,just need 1 more and the SRO pack and i will be good on IGs.The only thing i could find to do with the Destro was to pop the head and put it on the single card version.I like the painted eyes better.

The IG is awesome! By far one of the best head sculpts yet. I could care less about the destro though. The comic in the pack was actually half way decent as well.
