So this morning I watched the Mummy 3. The whole time I was watching it I kept thinking of G.I. Joe. The whole 'stone' chinese army reminded me of The Pyraimd of Darkness where the Joes were up against the Crimson Twins and the 'stone' chinese army. There's a scene where "Alex" is attacked by a ninja dressed in blue, whole crap the Ninja Viper on screen. To top it off, the desert scene where the ground opens up and the 'stone' army come out of, reminded me of the PIT in the comics when they where in Utah. Marvel issue #72 prime example.
Over all the movie was entertaining, cool special effects. For $6.00 I'm not gonna complain.

It looks ok, I enjoyed the other ones so I'll probably check this out. I do want Dark Knight to stay on top though.

Yeah, I noticed that over at AICN. Harry's review cracked me up, even when he dogs a movie, he still has to drool over it. A year from now, he'll be talking about what a pretty little turd it was or some strange, borderline nausiating, metaphor.
I liked the first Mummy quite a bit, but felt the second was stale, and kinda started not liking Sommers after he followed it up with Van Helsing. Now Coen, man, I honestly can't say I care for much of what he's done either (dang I sound like a heartless critic.)
Fast and the Furious speaks for itself, your either on board with the chicks and cars, or not. XXX, i wanted to like it so much, being a Vin Diesel fan at that time, but dang it was cheesy to me.
I've got a weird opinion towards movies I guess, I can handle 'camp' or 'cheese', but it's gotta be handled right, and niether Sommers nor Coen do it for me.
Ill definately hold my reservations and not dog it before I see it, but I just feel like it's not gonna be my kinda movie, especially hearing people like the 2nd one more.

I'll never consider AICN a suitable 'taste barometer' for my movie choices!:)

Actually, imo, Ive agreed with a few reviews off that site. None of them being Harry's though. That dude is all over the place on his reviews. Back in the day, he went all nutzoid about how awesome the prequels were, and just recently he made a comment on how bad they were...yeah, he's all over the place.

Sorry, but there's a reason I like Sommers' films. It's because there's a little more to them than what's on the surface. Mainly because Sommers would spend his time in the library researching folklore, history and mythology. And if two morons who don't spend time looking at Chinese mythology are writing it, then it's just not worth it. Thus, that's why I'm following "G.I. JOE".

Saw it this past Thursday/Friday Morning at a Midnight Premier I liked it; kind of curious of how the emperor turned himself into that bear-ram-baboon kind of monster??? What was that kind of animal supposed to be; I figured "DAMN he morphed into a Chupacabra!!!!"

I did like "Dragon:The Bruce Lee story" even if it was historically incorrect...but then look at "Braveheart"!
I like my movies the same way i like my music-sometimes i want really intricate, creative, mind warping musicianship (think Tool,Dillinger escape plan,Karnivool,Mogwai,Machine Head, meshugga etc) and sometimes i just wanna rock out to something that just sounds fun (Linkin Park, fall out boy,Lost Prophets,MCR etc).
My fave films are stuff like Oldboy,Requiem for a dream and The dark Knight but also Freddy vs Jason,Transformers,Ninja Scroll etc.
In short-I LOVE artsy,(sometimes slightly pretentious) ,thought provoking, dark films but i also love fun action packed popcorn flicks.

I find it hard to say anything truly bad about AICN. Ive been with it since the beginning, and I never have joined up with it for the TalkBacks. The talkbacks is what can give fanboys a bad name IMO, not the site itself.
Sure, theres some obvious biased stuff on there now days, but all in all, they get good information. Other places may get info quicker, but like I said, Ive been with it since they started, so it's kinda became part of my movie life, hittin that site a couple of times a day.

what worries me is that you hear interviews with producers and stuff and they say "oh we read alot of feedback about the project online" and my heart sinks-i PRAY they are reading certain message boards and NOT Aicn cuz the majority of the talkbackers there are complete wankers who just wanna crap on everything or try to be funny with some stupid comment repeated over and over again.

Treat Williams rocks! I miss Everwood!
But yeah, the AICN TalkBacks are horrible. Some of the most vile out of nowhere useless crap is thrown around in there. Everyonce in a while youll come across a gem, but for the most part, I would gladly meet many of the TBers to beat them to a pulp.

Yeah, that's probably the one of his I didn't like. It was good for the first five minutes, then turned into crap.
Of course, that and "Step Up 2" (Which he didn't direct, but had two Sommersverse actors in it) are the skeletons in that closet...
Although, I find more women prefer the monster films and men like "Deep Rising"...of course, he is surrounded by women at home. (His wife and daughters. :) )

Yeah, but it felt like a B movie that knew it was a B movie. Ive always liked Treat Williams, and it was such an odd movie for him to be in imo. Also, i think it was my first movie I fell in love with Famke Jansen (sp?), and the Wes Studi using his last bullet to shoot at Kevin O'Connor (i think his name is), absolutely killed me.
I think I will give a movie like that more of a chance if I actually see it on TV rather than the big screen. If I woulda seen it in theaters (not sure if it had a theatrical release, dont remember) I honestly probably wouldn't have liked it. Wierd huh?
