Custom Cobra Stinger. (Modified WIP)

Since no 25th Vehicles are out for the GI joe line.I decided to make my own Cobra Stinger Night Attack Jeep.Only slightly different.
I took a CORPS ATX Jeep and dismantled it.
Then Primed every piece on the damn thing except the tires.Here is the base picture.(not my toy)

i was thinking fo doing the same thing a whiel ago.
seeing as cobra always had crazy "experimental" looking vehicles, what with MARS making exclusive stuff for cobra and all.

I picked up an extra one...not sure what color that will be yet. I'm waiting to see what bigwolfdaddy's looks like in black...I may end up stealing his idea after he is done.

Haven't started it yet.But my color schemes will be black for huge part of body.Then interior, roll bars' and trim is going to be base coated with Tamera Metallic Silver then finished with a tamera clear red. So that I would have this color effect.Look at the red angela in the middle.Also going to take some darkened plexiglass and make some windows for it.

Nope just peeled them off and whipped with a damp cloth.But don't forget to scrub the whole thing with soap and water to remove any traces of mold release used in the casting process

I picked up one of the stealth fighters from the corps set. When I am finished with this I am attempting an updated firebat.

I've seen K-Mart has red versions of those stealth fighters......I've been tempted to turn one into a Firebat myself :)

The bad thing about them is they have zero landing devices.So I am going to have to sculpt the landing gear and take apart some hot wheels I have for the wheels.I just had a vision of a thousand HW collectors shuderring and passing out.God I love myself. LOL

when you were painting the wheel wells and the window trim what did you use to do that. did you tape off the areas that you didn't want painted or did you paint it by hand?

I've seen this vehcile at K-Mart a few times and considered getting it. It was just a matter of who to give it too, and how to customize it. This looks awesome. The red trim adds alot of life to it.

I've also seen these and now that you and Apac have done this I have come up with an idea.

I'm not sure what he used to paint just the red....but a side note. I started using the blue painters tape for some projects...and it works great. Don't be afraid to give it a try...yeah, its more expensive than regular masking tape...but I haven't had any problems with it lifting paint.

yeah i have some low yeild red painting tape but i still strips the paint off. the paint i am using is flat black and i was going to use a lite layer of clear coat to protect it from flaking and stuff should i use the clear coat then paint the trim like i want, what do you think?

To avoid problems like that you should try KRYLON Fusion spray paint. It's for plastic use only and it works really well from what I've used it for. I've only found this paint at Walmart stores So that is the only place your going to find it. I think you should check it out.

You should try the Tamiya spray paints. They are expensive $5.00 for a small bottle but they dry flawlessly. And you can get them in matt colors!

Most decent hobby stores have them or you can order them online.

So I just finished the work on my tribute to the Stinger. I wanted to stay tru to the original so I used flat black base, kept some of the flat gray tones such as the running board and doors. I did go a bit insane painting all the rivets red but I think it was worth it.

What do you all think? Im just waiting on some decals that need to be added. Plus Im adding a license plate...STINGER

Id love to Pythonize this but with so many tight corners...it might be tough. What do you think Apoc, should we give it a shot?

That is NICE! I haven't stepped in to the ring for customizing vehicles yet. But seeing this makes me want to do this in a Python Patrol variant. I have used camo netting to make all kinds of effects on my gear and rifle, so I am pretty confident in doing this.

I will be adding the Cobra to the doors, I just need to find the decals. Anyone know of any good Cobra Symbol repro companies?

Also I will be adding the license plate, waiting to have the decal printed.

As for the headlights...Im torn...sholud i make them yellow, silver...or another color??
