O.K. So I heard that they had considered making the GI.Joe movie a comedy. How much validity that rumor has I don't know, but it got me thinking.

I don't think that would be such a bad Idea.

A lot of us around here don't like the way it appears the movie is shaping up. They say it needs to be more like the old cartoon or the comics, or that it could be more realistic.

When they become vocal about it others say (not quoting any one person) "In the old days Cobra Commander knocked flint, and Lady Jaye into a lake of Butterscotch. Is that what you want?" or "nobody ever got hit, and just parachuted out of planes before they exploded. How realistic is that?".

That is true as well

So the question I'm asking is if you guys, and Gals would be satisfied with a movie that was very faithful to the comics, or cartoons, but was a comedy?

Personaly I woulden't mind seeing it that way. Pointing out some of the rediculousness that was "our GI.Joe" from back in the day.

Just like Austin Powers did to the James Bond spy movies from the 60's. YouTube - Austin Powers - 100 billion dollars (http://youtube.com/watch?v=jTmXHvGZiSY)

Or like 'A Life Aquatic' did referencing the old Jacque Custo wild life documentaries.
YouTube - Life Aquatic - rescuing the bond company stooge (http://youtube.com/watch?v=xbSghPrDyj0) Very "Live the Adventure" if you ask me. :)

Another clip for the same movie

Or how it appears 'Tropic Thunder' is poking fun at action movies, and the actors in them.

So do you think GI.Joe would be good as a comedy?

*edit*
By the way I'm not sugesting it SHOULD be a comedy. Just that if it were do you think it would be good?

I think it already is a spoof man. LOL. Just look at the actors and director.

From what I've seen it's pretty much already full of comedy, albeit unintentional.

EDIT: Or just QuoFT Deckard.

If thats the case then Marlon fits right in!!

Seriously though, I think it's the only way a movie that was VERY faithful to the old school Joe Verse would work.

Oh yeah!! How could I forget Team America!!

Wow judging from the pole results, GI.Joe is a very serious subject, not to be taken lightly.

Hahaha, too most Joe fans, G.I. Joe is a lot like the internet. The only way to describe it is in the format of this poster:

I personally think the year it comes out (next year) It will mortify us, but in ten years time indeed it will be funny as Deat Wish Three. Or Robo Cop 3 for that matter YouTube - RoboCop 3 Trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOdELisKpP4)
"I thought your damn ninja was supposed to take care of RoboCop!"

All action or superhero movies canbe spoofed, and they can even be hilarious, but I don't want to see the Joe movie franchise become a comedy
