Steel Brigade Delta Review

I've never done a review before, but thought since I picked up the new VAMP with the Steel Brigade Delta, I'd share pics of the figure and throw in a few opinions.

The body below the neck is the same as the Cobra Shock Trooper, cast in a drab green with gray details and highlights. The head inside the helmet appears to be a new Snake Eyes-esque head cast in light gray. No paint details whatsoever.

As far as accessories go, it has the same tactical vest as the POC Beachhead, but this time two knives to go with both sheaths. The rifle is the same seen with the Pit Trooper from ROC. One of the most interesting parts of the entire figure is the new helmet. It's painted with several different colors and has an interesting design that reminds me of MASK figures. Lots of customizing potential, I'm sure. A nice feature that's included is that this figure has his own stand with name printed on it.

Overall, the figure's paint and color scheme doesn't really seem to fit in with the rest of the Steel Brigade, but makes for more of a "space marine in the jungle" feeling. A little drab when compared to single-carded figures, but overall one of the better vehicle drivers we've seen in a while.

I'd give this figure a 7/10 rating. Could be better but could be a lot worse. If you don't have the VAMP from the previous POC offering, go out and get this set. I found mine at Walmart for $19.98, which is a great bargain considering everything you're getting.

Based on the pics alone, I'd give it a 8/10, but I'd have to have it in my hands to see it before I'd give it any higher, although it seems to me to have the potential to be a 10. I really like this figure. Was the vamp the same as the first one?

I never actually found the VAMP from the POC release. From what I can tell, it's the same with maybe a few color differences. Neat vehicle, but the damn thing needs doors. Any Joes riding around in that thing would be swiss cheese.

IDK, I'm kinda diggin that head. But I'd probably use it for a custom and just change out the Steel Brigade's head with a generic covered head. That helmet is awesome. Looks HALO-ish to me.

i read the rest of your post. you did get it at retail. wow. underwhelmed on the paint to say the least...

maybe ill have to paint my own... wouldnt be a big deal except i dont paint... maybe it will make it easier to get them though...

Can't wait for some of the guys who makes casts to get their hands on this helmet. IMHO, far superior to the Pit Commando/SB helmet we have received recently.

It has very few paint apps.. a light beige, some gray.. it's really what you can expect from any vehicle driver.

Possibly a future release, but it hasn't been used yet. It could pass for a v4 Snake Eyes (1991).

the helmet reminds me of halo, i don't understand the head, it has like a helmet already, kind'a cheesey, but the figure looks good. i doubt i will buy this vehicle, i think i will buy the black dragon, though. and i really like that figure..

What? Did you see the vehicle drivers in the PoC line? They were all kitbashed and repaints for the most part. Look at the Mech Drivers, Ice Cutter driver, Clutch, Wolf Hound, HISS Tank, Fury, Ghost Hawk, Fury and the A.W.E. Striker.

Storm Rider is the only one that I think even got a new head!

Vehicle drivers are there to help sell the vehicle. This dude rocks!

Hmm, It's not bad, if i get any they will be rearmed...Swap out the vest for a Shocktrooper vest, probably keep the gun though. Swap the head for POC beachhead. I do love the current head though (heheheh) just not for SB...I want to use that head sculpt for something else.

BTW, if you don't want your SB head, send it to me! Please!!

Also, regarding the new head (sculpt), isn't it kind of small to be used as a standalone head?

Honestly, if someone bought the new VAMP just for the fig, I'd trade for the vehicle. See my For Sale thread (linked in my sig) for stuff I have to offer.

it's weird, but the odd lack of paint makes me want the figure more. he looks so goofy and prototype-ish, it's kinda cool, and some really simple, easy touch ups could go a long, long way.

i didn't like the head but it didn't stop me.. i loved the figure.. i think im going to build a Steel Brigade Delta Army.. hehe.. i just swapped some of the joes head and gears..

Doors aren't a big deal to me. I've been in my share of hummers and such and the doors I'm ussed to are no better than those 'soft' doors on a jeep. I love this VAMP (got 3)...the helmet made me think Star Wars...green and darker green, but no grays...
