Hes is ok, I didnt pull the trigger on this one since I dont need 4000 variants of the same figure with just different colored uniforms. The only one i am doing that with is 2 Crimson Gaurds they need to make to go with my SDCC Crimson Cobra Commander. This one just feels to far out of balance for what I want in my Joe collection...Like some dude running around in Afghanistan with a red cobra logo and a really hot wool face cover on lol :)

This is going to look good alongside my black Cobra Sniper, all of the figures have been home runs in my opinion, I have bought them all and will continue to as long as they get better, looking forward to more joes than Cobras though

I decided to get this guy and pass on the SDCC Ninja Viper instead.

I also hope they don't take the "environment" idea too far with the Blueshirts. I wouldn't mind more specially equipped Blueshirts (RPG, SAW, etc.) as long as they have unique headsculpts, though. I already replaced the Sniper's uniform with a standard Cobra blue one.

The Desert guys work because the alternative (Sand Scorpions, etc.) are kinda goofy looking. I don't want jungle themed, urban camo, or Python Patrol Troopers, though. Maybe one with a winter parka and other snow gear, provided that he had a unique sculpt and the standard Cobra blues underneath.

I agree. If I had to choose I also would have bought this over the Ninja Viper. Don’t get me wrong, I do like the Ninja Viper but Cobra Troops scream more G.I. JOE to me. The only gripe I have about this figure is that It did not bring as much gear as the ninja did. Not including too many accessories does keep the troop builder figures down in price (though not by much). Sideshow’s version of the basic Cobra Trooper is perfect IMO. I hope the Desert Cobra Officer brings more equipment than the Desert Ops Sniper did, but most likely it will bring the same gear that the first Cobra Officer had.

I might have gone for this guy if Sideshow had done little things to make him more unique. LIke short sleeves on the arms or a diffierent typs of face mask that looks more consistent with a dessert type trooper.

I love all the Sideshow stuff so far but I cant afford to be a completist unless I am totally into the figure. So far Ive passed only on this one and on the Ninja Viper.

I like how these guys can bend back their heads decently enough. Better than the 3-3/4 figures can. I got my Desert Sniper in a pretty cool position because of this:
