Promotional Tiger Cat?

I recently won an unused in box Tiger Cat on ebay. It is a bit of an oddity, as it has a promotional Not for Resale sticker on the front of the box. Has anyone ever seen something like this before?

I was thinking that it might have been set aside for a contest or something but I've seen cases of toys in TV stations for such things and they didn't have any of those stickers. Maybe it was supposed to be used as a promotional set up in a retail store or something. Pretty cool little bit of history....now if we only knew the history :)

There are pictures of a similarly stickered Ultra Magnus (1986 for those of you who don't know) floating around.

My guess is this was either a Sales Rep sample, or something that was used at a toy show.
