The Battle Android Trooper, (B.A.T. for short) is a fan favorite army builder that deserves a well made, updated figure. Fortunately for us, Hasbro hit this one out of the ball park
The Bat is an all new sculpt with a few changes from the original. The chest plate is no longer the old lenticular 3-D image from the old days, now it's an actual, sculpted part with a clear cover. The figure is molded in black plastic with a silver dry brush paint app on the robotic parts that gives them a gritty, machine feel. One of the additions that wasn't needed but is gladly accepted is the removable gun from the hip holster seen on the original figure. The holster has a strap that plugs onto the removable belt with the familiar Bat belt buckle.
Unlike the original figure, this BAT includes a trend started with the Valor Vs Venom BAT from 2004, an interchangeable left hand! All the familiar attachments are here in an updated form. The flamethrower and machine gun still have the classic look but are bulked up and heavily detailed. The biggest update to the attachments is the claw with a movable grip blade. Again, this is an update that wasn't needed but is appreciated. The backpack looks to be retooled from the original. Due to the increased size in the hand attachments, only two attachments can fit on the top of the backpack. Hasbro included a hollow area in the bottom of the backpack to store one of the hand attachments so the BAT can still carry all it's parts with it. The BAT comes with a backpack, Left hand attachment, Right hand attachment, Flamethrower attachment, Machine gun attachment, Claw attachment, Handgun and a Cobra Stand with it's name on it.
This is an impressively detailed toy that was obviously made with a love for the character. Everything about this toy screams awesome.

i agree the bat is pure perfection, but i have a question, why did they call it COBRA ANDROID TROOPER on the packaging instead of BATTLE ANDROID TROOPER. that just peeked my interest when i got one

Right now it is in my top 3 favorite figures I own, although, I'm looking more forward to the BAT from the 'Arise Serpentor, Arise' battle pack.

You make me very Envious. I would love to find just one on a peg before I can no longer afford the gas to hunt. Ebay is a last resort but I will be patient and wait awhile. When a B.A.T. army builder with some battle damaged ones come out that will be awesome. Great review! Even though I have never seen one in hand I sure have lots of pretty pictures of my favorite figure.

One of the best figures ever and in my top ten of all time.

I have 5(1 MOC & 4 loose) and I gotta say this fig is pretty close to being the best fig released so far. 3 more and my squad of 7 will be complete. Then I gotta track down 3 more Snow Serpents.

I was going to moan about the "spare hand" (not having anywhere to put it when the figure has a weapon in place) until I noticed in this review that it can be stashed in the hollow of the backpack. Thanks!

Great review!!!!
I disagree with one part though. Technically, I don't think the left hand is meant to be detachable and replaced with the claw or flamethrower or whatever. I think the left hand is designed the same way as the rest of the 25th figures...with easily removable articulation. The hole and peg for that left hand seems a slightly different size than the other attachments to me. I might be wrong though. The parts do still fit in that hole though, so that's still a bonus IMO.
Great figure!!! HTS and BBTS say my BAT preorders are due to ship/process today or tomorrow. So I'll have several more to add to my android army soon!!!

I got 4 bats from walmart the other day, I lov ethe new toy and plan on getting about 20 or so to have a bat army but I'm thinking of remodeling the back pack so all 3 attachments can be set on top I do not like the idea of putting the arm in hinding, plus what if you have a row that has both hands on you can not store anything else in that spot. I plan on working on a new backpack over the weekend

I actually think the BAT's are better with the backpacks left off - They're more streamlined and 'dangerous' looking. I leave mine in my spares box and just pose the figures with their gun arms.

Found 2 B.A.T.s yesterday, he is AWESOME!!
yup he is and Shogi's reviews are awsome too.
I found the BAT along with the rest of wave 9 a couple of days ago, and he is indeed awesome. Like most of Wave 9, he's a perfect update of the original figure. I didn't grab the rest of 9, as a buddy had already picked them up for me, but you can never have enough BATs, right?
Everything on this figure is perfect. The attachments, backpack, weapon...all of it. The only thing I don't care for is that the attachments are kinda hard to get off, but I guess that's a good thing, so they don't just fall off all the time. Another great thing about the BAT is that if you have a red paint marker, or simply some red paint, you can make a custom toon BAT. That's probably the easiest custom out there. I also love the wash on the arms and attachments. It really looks like a custom someone did, only it's not. It's a mass market release that looks this good. Amazing. Kudos, Hasbro. Now keep them coming.

I'm sure this has been mentioned countless times, but I can't remember where. Where will the Battle-damaged BAT be available? Is it part of a comic pack, 5 Pack, or something else entirely?

Wow, so this is the only thing so far to get a perfect 10 huh? Hmmm... for some reason I never did like the B.A.T.s, to me they were very "un-G.I.Joe" like. Having said that I loved the G.I. Joe movie and all that Cobra-La stuff (perhaps the most "un-G.I.Joe like creations ever). LOL.
I have never seen a B.A.T. in the wild though, saw everything else hanging from the pegs from wave 9... but no B.A.T.s. *shrugs*

i got a B.A.T. last night the only one on the shelf at walmart. it's a pretty good figure it stands well. the only attachment that seems to hold in place is the claw or the hands the flame thrower and machine gun when attached seems loose and don't fit well on the arms they don't fit as tight as the hands and claw.still a great figure to have.

Whats wrong with the Ninja-Ku? I found one today.
I'm curious why it says international in the top corner...and who else in the series might have a similar marking.

Thanks to Viper48 I just got my BAT and I echo everyone elses sentiments, THIS FIGURE ROCKS!!!
I don't want to say its the best figure made so far but it is hard to find one better (maybe Snow Serpent). It will take a really good figure to top this one

Great review, and yes, a great figure! I've been lucky so far, and been able to pick up three of them. I've got another three in the mail so that's it for me. Looking forward to this battle-damaged version I've heard about as well. Red visored version from the cartoon might be good too...

I passed on Ninja Ku as well. Ninja Ku was originally a figure made in Argentina, which I guess is why it says international on the packaging. Problem was, Ninja Ku was black (as in, his race, not just his clothing), but they just decided to make this figure another boring old Storm Shadow. So, no thanks Hasbro! I would have bought a real Ninja Ku, but I'm not interested in more Storm Shadows.

Sweet review! I've been wanting to get this figure since the moment I heard about it coming out. I only had 1 of the original B.A.T.s as a kid, & with how hard it is to find ANY new 'Joe figures around my local stores, I may never get a squad of them let alone ONE. I really hope Hasbro goes the way of the Crimson Guards & gives us a 5-figure Toys 'R' Us exclusive pack, maybe with a new version of Overlord or something (although just 5 B.A.T.s in a pack is fine for me).

LoL reminds me of when I was a kid, I loved that B.A.T., hence why mind is missing ALL of his hands except the claw of which part is broken. Least I still have his back pack.
Hey, quick B.A.T. related question:
On the orginal 80's card & the new card, they are called Cobra Android Troopers, yet are abreviated "B.A.T.S.". I know they're supposed to be Battle Android Troopers, but why is the "battle" part not mentioned on ANY part of the packaging??
And...if they're NOT Battle Android Troopers, why are they not called C.A.T.S. for Cobra Android Troopers??

I have several of the BATs myself, and I agree.
It is an awesome figure!
I also have several Vipers, and think they go very well together.
