How many people actually got there hands on this one?
It was a tough little beast for me to track down. The stores had to order 25 issues to get one in and most stores were small and didnt order that many. Orlando area only got in maybe 2 issues tops. and I got from what I understand to be the only one that went into Tampa.

The Herb Trimpe cover? I wanted one until I saw it close up and realised how crappy it looked.
I always prefered Micheal Golden anyway, even if his #36 cover wasn't exactly his best work...

Considering my store barely got G.I. Joe at all(I thank Previews advance order system for mine) I was lucky to just get the cover I did. I hate it when variants depend on the amount ordered, though I guess that's what makes them rare.

They are both extremely good. I thought the OP was about the retailer incentive cover to AE #36, which was itself a homage to Marvel #155 (just not a very good one I reckon).

this is the last issue of gijoe america's elite now all the characters of gijoe and cobra are retired for now, look at hawk, he's in the wheel chair, flint's wife is gone, doc (the original), quick kick, breaker and among all other joes including battle force 2000 were killed in action, give baroness a rest, she has a baby.
that is why IDW has already reboot the gijoe comic book story and their own new universe.
ok for IDW gi joe continuity, let's see how the new characters of joes and cobra hawk, scarlett, snake eyes, duke, destro, baroness, cobra commander, storm shadow and others will turn out to be and how do they look maybe based on their toy version. i saw saw few of them like duke and hawk.

I was lucky to get one. Not one store here was getting any. They all told me they had to order 50 copies to get it. I called Graham Crackers in Illinois(I'm in Ohio) and the guy was really helpful. He called their other stores and found me one for $29.99.

I, personally didn't care for either cover. I thought that if they were ending 25+ years of continuity they could have at least put out a more sweeping, epic looking cover. It looks like they tried to do that, but neither one really worked...

they aren't great covers, but man I want the Trimpe cover as a nod to the old series.

I feel extremely lucky. My comic store owner knew I was gonna be depressed with the last issue hitting stands. I walk into the shop, he pulls out issue 36 and then hands me the variant cover of the last issue and says "Merry Christmas- you are one heck of a Joe fan"
took it home free of charge. I know the shop owner pretty well and he said it was mine for all the years of support.

Small Joes have the Trimpe cover back in for $40. I'd want it for completeness, but not that much!

Jeez, nice, my comic shop guy knows I only buy Joe comics, he wouldn't do anything like that.
