Here's a re-imagination Joe project I've been working on lately...

At the end of the 21st century, a civil war divided the factions of Cobra Commander and Serpentor. This was the catalyst for the great Cobra Cataclysm which ravaged the world for countless of years. Both sides sustained heavy casualties which also included the utter destruction of the rebel organization known notoriously as GI Joe. Overwhelmed, outmaneuvered, and outmatched, The infamous Cobra Commander was finally defeated, captured, and executed publicly under the orders of his majesty Serpentor the first.....

One by one, The countries of the world fell under the might and power of his majesty, Serpentor the First, thus the thousand year rule of the Serpent Empire had began...

By the year 3000 AC (After Cobra) the world we know is gone and a new one had risen. Bio-mechanics had integrated with techno-mysticism, and the tyranny of the new Serpent Emperor is stronger than ever under the vigilant eyes and ears of his deadly vizier the MasterBender. Yet a new menace is brewing beneath the bowels of the serpent as the fanatical followers of a religious sect known as the N.O.K.s (New Order of Kobra) is rising against the leadership of the Serpent Emperor as well as the hope fostered by the fierce rebel military faction called the J.O.E.S. (Joint Operations against the Emperator Serpentus)...

The Serpent Emperor stands regally with the strength and cunning of countless kings and emperors of old. He is the descendant of Serpentor the First and rules with an iron fist and a darker heart. He believes truly that the world should be made under his image and fights fiercely to enforce his rule against those who oppose him. Unbeknownst to his citizens he is actually the first Serpentor, mechanically kept alive for 3000 years and maintained secretly by his evil vizier the MasterBender and his able techno-minions the Benders...

The Serpent Troopers are the military backbone of the impressive B.O.A. (Battle Operations Assault ) unit of the Serpent Empire. Volunteers are subjugated and enhanced with bio-mechanics and are transformed into a crack military team to protect and uphold the laws of his majesty the Serpent Emperor. Armed with the newest technological weapons and vehicles such as the Fang Skiff, they serve The Serpent Emperor with unbridled loyalty and deadly fanaticism...

The Serpent Brigade was formed after the destruction of the centuries old military outfit known as the Steel Brigade which waged a sizable but losing campaign against Serpentor the First and the Cobra faction. Sensing the need for a better if not more equipped secret military operations unit, The Serpent Emperor decreed the installment of the Serpent Brigade which trained each member proficiently with countless military tactics and indoctrinated relentlessly like that of the old Nazi SS. The brigade serve as the Serpent Emperor's lethal commando unit, ready to dish out pain, fear, and suffering to those who defy their glorious emperor with their impressive arsenal of weapons.

The B.A.A.T.S. (Battle Armored Android Troopers) are still the first and foremost troops to be deployed against any hostile incursions and environments around the world. Instead of being easily destroyed or broken down like that of its ancient versions, These B.A.T.S. are upgraded regularly with the newest armor alloy, latest heavy armaments, and a revolutionary AI technology designed to immediately counter it's enemy movements and tactics. Under the technical wizardry of Serpent Emperor's bio-mech laboratories, a trans-grafted human brain serves as it central processing core for it's overall effectiveness in any battle against their supreme commander, the Serpent Emperor...

The Serpent Sentries are the automated defense units patrolling the city for signs of insurgents and rebels. These hi-tech enhanced AI units are equipped with state of the art detection systems such as heat signature, infra red, and radar. They also contain enough firepower to reduce a city block in cinders. Remorseless and oblivious to emotion, these cold calculated hunter killer drones work tirelessly like soldier insects against external threats to their Serpent Emperor...

The C.O.I.L. Unit is a secret cadre of the finest and most loyal operatives in the service of the Serpent Empire. They are the Serpent’s Elite, handpicked by the Emperor to uphold and preserve the Serpent’s way. The unit is task to locate and eliminate any known opposition against the empire as they see fit. They are highly trained, extremely motivated, very intelligent, and utterly ruthless beyond measure. Each an individual master in their own art, the Serpent’s C.O.I.L. can do as they please and answer to none but only to the Serpent Emperor himself.

B.E.A.R. (Binary Enhanced Assault Robot) – Heavy Assault Support
During an excavation of some jungle ruins deep in the heart of Cobra Island, workers unearthed an intact deactivated B.A.T. among the rubble and quickly bought it to the techno labs of W.A.R.S. (World Armament Research Syndicate) Industries for evaluation and programming. Upon activation, the binary coded central processing unit of the B.A.T. was noted to exhibit highly advanced neural cognition and memory and it immediately became sentient recounting the final days of the Great Slither War at Cobra Island. Refitted and recalibrated to suit the rigors of the present day battlefield, The B.E.A.R. is now an independent artificially intelligent Heavy Assault android and serves as a back-up support for the C.O.I.L. Unit.

As a member of the elite Serpent Brigade, Havoc quickly rose from the ranks due to his extreme ferocity and stellar prowess in battle. With countless honours and medals under his scales, The Serpent Emperor secretly tasked him to form the Serpent’s elite, the C.O.I.L. Unit to maintain order within and outside the walls of the Serpent Empire. Strong, silent, and unmatched in military tactics and decisions, He is also adept in all forms of weaponry, demolitions, and hand to hand combat as well as an expert marksman. Havoc is definitely the penultimate soldier and spy of the Serpent Empire and everyone trembles in fear of him.

Before the Sino-Draco Offensive began, Serpent Troopers where “volunteered” to undergo weapons augmentation and organic-mecha experiments were fused together to further enhanced battle effectiveness and production. One serpent trooper became so obsessed with the various upgrades that he volunteered to overhaul his whole body to become the cyborg weapon that he is today. More machine now than man, Dozer is the only one of his kind. Armed with multiple laser guided and non-conventional weapons grafted to his body; this heavy weapons cyborg specialist is as fearsome, wicked, and deadly as they come.

Deep Pocket was one of MasterBender’s brightest upcoming techno-wizards until he was re-assigned to the C.O.I.L. unit for unknown reasons. Rumour has it that he was secretly plotting to overthrow the MasterBender as Serpentor’s Grand Vizier thus his sudden transfer to this elite core where death is eminent at any time. Possessing a very high IQ with a creative imagination for inventions, He is adept in scavenging for parts and creating new weapons and organisms of mass destruction from the unlikeliest of sources. Deep Pocket will always develop plans to undermine and control his peers and surroundings only for his benefit alone.

Born among hundreds of muta-genetic experiments, the child known as Experiment 1 was the only survivor after the laboratory that created him was destroyed by rebel factions. Alone and left for dead, Experiment 1 was found and raised by the secret Arashikage Ninja Cell and because of his enhanced physiology and advanced mental functions, grew into an excellent tracker and hunter. When the Serpent Army came for the rebels, the ninja cell was discovered and everyone was systemically wiped out. Experiment 1 was recaptured and sent into the concentration camps for re-education and indoctrination. After the process, the man known as EX-1 is gone, and a new sadistic and cunning killer known only as the EVIL–1 was born.

A.I.R.Wave was once the finest pilot of all the S.A.S. (Serpent Air Service) until a careless manoeuvre during a training exercise resulted in the death of a comrade in arms. Disgraced, exiled, and stripped of his rank, He disappeared into the wastelands and waited for death to claim him. But instead of the calm embrace of death, it was Havoc who sought him out and offered the ex-pilot a place in the C.O.I.L. unit. He was re-instated as their aerial support/ recon trooper. Donning a prototype light armored flight suit with multiple offensive weapons at his disposal, A.I.R.Wave soars the skies as a winged angel of death to the enemies of the Empire.

To incite further fear and terror to the citizens of the Empire, one name was added to the secret C.O.I.L. unit and he is called the Firebug. Named loosely after the saboteur Firefly of ancient times, Firebug is a freelance cornucopia of mayhem and destruction. He is skilled with all types of explosives and demolitions as well as an excellent handler of various weapons and technology; and he is of service only to the highest bidder. Armed with an advanced body suit that can manipulate and project explosive blasts at will, the Serpent Emperor wasted no time in acquiring the services of this cold “terrorist” into the folds of the .C.O.I.L. Unit.

Burnout once served on the Serpents' Special Long Range Reconnaissance Patrols, or SLRRPs (pronounced "Slurp"). These were special small four to six-man teams on highly dangerous special reconnaissance missions deep into enemy territory. As a member of the Serpent Corps, Burnout in contrast, was trained 'old school' style. He is a skilled combat martial artist, qualified expert in all ancient and modern infantry small arms and explosives. A highly experienced operative of countless offensives, he is determined and extremely ruthless when needed to get the job done.
During a failed enemy attack, Burnout's commander ordered the destruction of all the villages within the area with the summary execution of all its inhabitants whether it be men, women, or children. This prompted an altercation between Burnout and his commanding officer which resulted to his dishonorable discharge from the Serpent Corps. Broken and discouraged, Burnout went into hiding to save his family from the Serpent Corps' retribution.
This action eventually led him to join the fierce rebel military faction called the J.O.E.S. (Joint Operations against Emperator Serpentus). The J.O.E.S. top honcho then assigned Burnout to an elite group equivalent to his old SLRRP unit to destabilize the tyrannic forces of the Serpent Empire. Burnout is determined to do his part in bringing down the Serpent Empire even if it cost him to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Adept not only with the double jointed battle blade, he is an excellent bowman and is a skilled hunter and tracker as well...
When the Sino-Draco Offensive of the Serpent Emperor threatened to destroy all of New China, Sachi was forced to abandon his harmonious life and soon join the rebel J.O.E.S. faction. Reserved and often quiet, he is well liked and regarded by his peers as a gentle soul with a fierce belief in freedom and equality for all.
Aside from being the master of an ancient martial art, Chi is also proficient in all small weapons and explosives as well as an operator of light and heavy vehicles.

The one known as ZombieKIller was once a proud and if not the deadliest member of the dreaded C.O.I.L. unit, until he was marked for execution under the orders of his best friend HAVOC. During the ambush, ZK's face was horribly disfigured by Dozer and was left for dead by his former teammates. Before losing consciousness, ZK vowed revenge to each and every member of the C.O.I.L. unit.
When some of the J.O.E.S. rebels found him half alive, they immediately realized who he was and debated whether to save or leave him behind. Doc Brig requested that he be the one to take care of his wounds first before they try him for his past crimes. Unbeknownst to the other J.O.E.S., Doc Brig was actually plotting to kill ZK as he was one of the C.O.I.L. agents who killed his family during a mission sanctioned by the Serpent Emperor. When ZombieKiller came to, he immediately recognized the doctor and rather than beg for mercy, asked Doc Brig to take his revenge upon him. Realizing the change of heart within this once cold blooded killer, Doc Brig asked the J.O.E.S. Command to give the ZombieKiller a chance to prove his defection and gain redemption.
ZombieKiller is adept in all manner of small and long ranged weapons and is also physically skilled in all forms of martial arts...

Friction with M.AR.C. (Modular ARmored Combat) Unit

Friction is the top mech-tech weapons developer for the rebel J.O.E.S. faction. A Bender prodigy, he escaped MasterBender's techno-wizardry institution upon learning that his creations were to be used against those who opposed the Serpent Empire. On the run and with nowhere to go, He was soon captured and scheduled for indoctrination when a young hotshot rebel named Marc, rescued him from the Benders. The two forged an unbreakable bond and together began a life of adventure which often included scavenging for mech parts, stealing W.A.R.S. Industries weapons, and defacing certain institutional landmarks of the Serpent Empire.
During a raid by C.O.I.L. agents on their safehouse, Marc was critically wounded which forced Friction to initiate an untested yet revolutionary mem-transfer procedure that he developed. The procedure worked and Marc's memory was reprogrammed into a modular battle unit designed also by Friction. Friction vowed that he will develop a system that will re-integrate his friend's memory back once he is able to hack into MasterBenders encrypted files on gene cloning experiments.
Currently Friction serves as the J.O.E.S. technical consultant as well as sole operator of the M.AR.C. unit and proficient in ancient and new military tactics and logistics...

An amalgamation of mechanical and used parts "liberated" from the junkyards of Kobra-La and the Serpent Emperor's W.A.R.S. Industries, the M.AR.C. unit is the ultimate product of it's brainchild creator, Friction. The unit is mobile, articulated, with a self repairing program which enables it to scavenge and re-integrate available parts within its surroundings to upgrade or "X-cessorize" up it's defensive and offensive capabilities. It is also receiver controlled with limited AI technology, from a stolen B.A.T. binary coded unit.
When Marc's consciousness was downloaded into the M.AR.C. suit, it quickly became sentient with his thoughts and immediately responded to all of his actions and memories. Able to do stuff he couldn't normally do as a man, Marc became aware that this unit may also be his coffin for life. Yet having Friction by his side also gives him the will and strength to fight the good fight and hope for his current predicament.
"I may look like a soulless machine to you, but deep inside this metal frame lies the heart of someone who will kick your ass to kingdom come!!!..."
