I plan on getting it for the PS3.. I also bought the limited edition movie. The only Space Marine armies i have left are the Dark Angel's and Iron hands. Then there are the 13+ other armies I still have. This is after selling off 4 others. LOL

My boy gets all his friends to play the miniatures game whenever he has friends over. most end up getting their parent to take them down to the store to at least get a model or two (I warm the parents how expensive it can get) Models, PC Gaming (RTS + the coming MMO), now Console Gaming and DVDs... all Games-workshop has to do is license out some action figures and I'll be set :)

I don't know alot about the different factions,but if there was a toyline for this.I'm sold.I try to play the tabletop version and found it was out of my pricerange to keep up.

That is the biggest problem with Games Workshop... the price hikes every year. I have been playing since 90' I can't count on both hands how many times they have revised the rules and made several of my armies obsolete and forced me to either sell them off or buy new items to keep my army legal.

But that's how they keep making money. If everybody built an army that was always playable and never needed to upgrade, they wouldn't be rolling in the $$$ over there at GW. The models are getting better and better though, imo. The detail in the plastic models now, compared to 15 years ago, is pretty amazing. Mold lines on the other hand...an effing nightmare.

I'm teetering on getting this....I play Tau on the tabletop, but have toyed with building a SM army (and IG army). I am just super picky with videogames.

I just rented Space Marine.

Check this out: In order to customize your character or progress past Lvl 5 in multiplayer you need to input the "Elite Pass" code that is printed on the back of the manual. Guess what? Last page is cut off on the rental copies. I have to get a DLC pass for 10 bucks in order to fully experience the game I paid to rent. BS I say.

I warhammer 40k book fan, and I'm really stoked about this one and am gonna get it when it comes out here. I hope there is a cutscene where the antagonist gets to threaten a big bad w/ a melta bomb ala uriel ventris :).

Well I caved in and shelled out 10 bucks for the Elite Pass. Multiplayer is pretty good so far. Set up like CoD is, with leveling, custom loadouts, character customization, challenges, etc.

Ive unlocked all 3 classes, the first custom loadout, and customization. Ive got a nasty looking armor set now. I really sucked until I unlocked the heavy weapon class. I cant get the hang of the jump pack guy though.

You heard right. The single player is ultra violent and easy to learn, and somehow slicing up thousands of orcs with a chainsword/power axe/thunderhammer in slomo never seems to get old. Then multiplayer keeps it interesting with the leveling system, challenges, unlockables, and customizable armor sets. They are releasing co-op survival mode soon, then hopefully some expansions and more DM maps.

Patiently waiting for the free DLC (horde mode) Would be nice if it was a bit more 40k and you could call in support (say-Dreadnoughts or Tech-Marines... maybe a Chaos Sorcerer or Defiler for the bad guys) If they hit the sales numbers they were looking for I'm hoping for a vastly improved SM2 (don't get me wrong- i really like the game, even bought two copies to play with my boy- but it lacks polish in the multi-player mode: fun, but with a lot of room to be a better Warhammer experience)

I agree with this. There is room for improvement, not from the game being bad, but from extras that could be added. Im not too familiar with the Warhammer world but Ive been reading up on it since I got the game.

Nice. I'll try and play this weekend. I'm at 35 I think... I maxed out the Heavy Bolter achievements so I've switched to trying the Storm Bolter to get some more xp but it's slow going.

Cool. Sent a request yesterday. Im close to max on the Heavy Bolter so now I only pull it out when Im sucking and pissed lol. Bought Kill Team for the Power Sword and its my best Assault weapon, but Im trying to build up the Thunder Hammer for Killing Blow (1 hit kill). I suck at sniping but Im working on Stalker and Lascannon perks at the moment. Im a fan of the Storm Bolter and the Plasma Cannon at the moment. Im pretty solid will all 3 classes and have some solid loadouts but Im trying to round out the weapon achievements for more XP. I also have most of the armor.

Exterminatus drops on the 25th!

the Dawn of War series is awesome, i love those. If you want an awesome 40K series get the Gaunt's Ghosts books (there are a few Omnibus' that have 3 or 4 books each. It's Imperial guard (instead of Space Marines) but it's some of the best 40k stuff written.

Exterminatus was delayed yesterday for 360, even though PC and PS3 got it. No timeframe in sight. This is bullshit.

Exterminatus has dropped as a free DLC and its AWESOME. Lots of XP and endless Ork slaughter. Got some bad players too, cant win em all.

A Chaos-based Exterminatus and CTF are next up on the DLC front, along with new skins.

Unfortunately, the rumor is there will not be a Space Marine 2, as THQ and Relic are working on Dark Millenium, the new 40K MMO coming out. But that is based off Space Marine gameplay, only with all races playable, vehicles, Titans, Terminators, Psykers, etc etc etc

What loadouts do you use on Exterminatus? I usually use a Hammer ASM with SureStrike/Inpenetrable but I mix it up with a Dev IronHalo/Heavy Coolant or Tac with Plasma and Storm Bolter with WepVers/Lannamens. There are a lot of good combos out there.

I average 2000 xp unless Im with a good group and Ive pulled 4k in those. Hammer ASM brings me the most kills and points but theyre squishy and lag hurts them. Ive made it to a Chaos round ONCE.

You can also run a Private game to play by yourself and try loadouts while still making XP.

New DLCs.............Chaos Invasion, CTF, and some skins.

Chaos Invasion is basically a Chaos version of Exterminatus, except you have to fight the Imperials as well as Orks. I only did a quick private run through, but I noticed the inclusion of Imperial Psykers. They are reworked Chaos Psykers, but cool nonetheless.

CTF is what it sounds like. Played a couple rounds and was pretty fun.

I have a pre-order copy so I have the extra skins (Space Wolves, Emp's Children, etc) but the new Champion skins are AWESOME. Chaos gets Legion of the Damned and Alpha Legion Champion, and the Imperium gets a Salamander and Blood Raven Champions. These are brand new models/skins and look pretty dope and stand out.

Bunch of new levels too (finally). All worth the download!

Have you downloaded the dreadnought pack yet? it's 800pts but pretty damn fun. there is still some bugs- you can't get all the new maps supposed to come with it- but I hear they are working on the fix... the dreadnaught totally makes it a 40k battle. I've been playing for two days straight again- but I've only been the dreadnought once! There is also a chaos Exterminus mode where you fight the Imperial guard and UltraMarines... and orks that will fight the Ig and the SM as well as you.... and some new skins available as well... you should check it out again if you haven't played for a bit!

Unfortunately that MMO is unlikely to see the light of day, either...the rumors are that THQ is on the verge of closing its' doors, and might not even survive the year. Also they've supposedly cancelled Dark Millennium and anything they were projecting for 2014 and beyond. Reportedly it's so bad that the bigger gaming companies (EA or Activision) don't even want to touch them because they're bookkeeping has been so horrible, so it's unlikely they're going to be "rescued" by a buyout.

Though I don't know if that would prevent THQ's sub-studios (Volition, etc...) from being piecemealed out.

Nice. Nothing better than taking down a dreadnought with a chainsword. As long as you can stay behind him and all his team-mates have charged off ahead! I'm still using a custom paint job on the armor based off the Chaos guys I built for my boy... but I'm tempted by the Damned Legion armor...

Ive been playing Retribution lately and its been a blast. Been on a break from Space Marine since I got it. That LotD skin looks really good though, as does the Salamander Champion.
