Hey Everyone. Just thought I'd share my new layout for my Joes. In the past, I didn't have enough room to showcase my collection, but recently moved and was able to do what I've wanted to do for years! Several years ago (I'm not sure what site) I came across the old pictures from the 80s showing all the Joes on the shelves. I loved the way it looked and it brought back many memories. Here is a preview of some of my new pics from my new room....Enjoy!

First off congrats on your new toy room!

Second, where did you purchase the shelving from?

Last but not least, please explain to me your decision to use those white back pieces with the slats in them. Aren't they usually used for peg hooks instead of shelves?

EDIT: Ok nevermind. I now see the 3rd pic you've posted.

Thanks! I got the shelving off of Craigslist. Wasn't sure how much I needed, so I did end up with some extra sections :). As far as the slats, that's what came with these units when I purchased them. The shelves themselves attach to the metal frame...so technically, you can really use anything behind them. I liked the look of the slat's for the wall unit....the center unit(not pictured yet) uses a peg board! Please check back soon....more pics will be posted :)

Thanks for the comments! Vintage will be posted shortly!!

As far as my wife, she doesn't fully understand, but she is great and tolerates me and Joe!(that's her bro helping me hang them up...lol)

Funny story behind these though....after my nephew came over and saw the shelves with items, he went home and started to clean out his closet. When my sis-in-law asked if was cleaning to get rid of toys he didn't want, he said "no, I want daddy to build me shelves like uncle danny in my closet"....needless to say....I got a call from bro-in-law thanking me for influencing his son..LOL

Oh wow... those ARAH shelves are awesome. You need to put up some old Toys R' Us signs and other 80's paraphernalia to help set the nostalgic ambience.

For all the 25th, ROC & POC stuff... IDK... put up a ROSS sign maybe? LOL.

Dan, I know you said you had loose joes as a kid. I know you said you love the card art, as that is what got you into collecting. I too LOVE the art.

But I have a few questions for you. When did you start buying all the MOC/MISB items? As a kid, did you buy one to open and 1 to stay in the package? (This may sound crazy, but my brother in law has a brother that starting doing that as a kid with Star Wars stuff.) Or did you get back into joes at some point in your adult life and start buying up these old treasures? If you are buying them later in life, where are you getting them.... ebay, conventions, other tankers, specialty toy stores?

I know I am asking a lot of questions. But I am really amazed at all your sealed ARAH stuff. That is really cool to me. Thanks for sharing buddy!

Thanks again everyone for great comments...I'm glad its bringing back some good memories! As far as collecting....i got into loose figs and later moc figs in 95/96. By 97 I made decision to do all moc/misb/mib. By 2000/01 I had majority of items. I bought anywhere....toy specialty stores, ebay, fellow collectors, ex wives of former collectors (lol..but seriously), etc. Thanks for enjoying

Since when did Kokomo's have a second store?

Dan, truly incredible room. I posted about four or so pages prior saying the same thing and asking for more pictures. You were nice enough to give us all more... and I am having to pick my jaw off the ground. Dude, you have to put up some non-angled pictures now. The MOC figure display is sick. SICK!! I almost want to say that it is a hoax of some kind and that everything is computer generated. So please explain to us how you were able to create a flux capacitor or were able to predict the future in 1997.

Awesome collection and displayed awesomely - if that is a word.

Holy Knights of Columbus that is Amazing. Thank you very much for showing the Tank your new Joe room.

I myself love collecting MOC/MISB. I collect loose Joe figures, but also love the art work on the Joe/Cobra vehicles. It is so cool in your room because it really does look like a toy store.

Another Tanker said you need to get a TRUS sign. I second that, you need to get either a Hills, Children's Palace, or Toys R Us sign to hang up when you walk into the room.

I love the idea of a TRU sign or our old favs Children's Palace (Ironic someone mentioned CP...I found a receipt from 1988 the other day just in some random box with my filecards from when I was a kid....LOL) If anyone can help me find a sign, let me know.

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!!???? Epic dude, but any toystore with this much old backstock needs to fire whoever is doing their purchasing. I miss the good old days too with fully stocked toy aisles but we cant obsess about the past. Live in the now. I do like that you did something other than build a toy museum though.

I think I've said this before, but regardless I'll say it again - I'm actually thankful that someone has put this much time and effort into amassing such a fantastic collection. Even if it can't be mine, I'm glad that it exists at all.

So, my wife's aunt stopped by last night to see us for the first time In our new house. My wife's sister was taking her on a tour and pointed out the Joe room. When the door opened, she was in shock and couldn't believe that I had set up the room like a toy store! It was a priceless moment to see her face and hear her! Now, I'm waiting for her other relatives to come over....I should set up a video camera....lol!

These photos take me way back! I miss the days you'd walk into a toy store and GI Joe covered the shelves.

Amazing. Just amazing.
