So I crawled around the backyard and snapped some pics today. It started out as a quick project to get some shots I could use with my RPG game posts. I'm sure the neighbors wondered what the hell I was doing lying on the ground with a pile of action figures and a camera, but I had such a good time doing it, I'm going to try and continue with it. I should mention that because I play in the RPG as a member of the Iron Grenadier team, you can expect my photo sets to have a rather strong IG slant (if you don't like it, you can take your own pictures - LOL). The first series (which will be updated daily until it is finished) was inspired by the following HissTank Role Playing Game scenario, written by cobralalalala!:

Cloak and Dagger

Summary: Alpine leads a G.I. Joe Strike Team against an Iron Grenadier stronghold in the Italian Alps, where Alchemist is holding two captured Action Force operatives, Eagle and Jammer. The stronghold is defended by the Highlander Regiment, which is commanded by Ares, a battle-hardened Nullifier hand-picked by Laird Destro.

It's an Endor Imperial Bunker that I bought about 10 years ago. The same mold was re-used for the Con Red Shadows Bunker a couple years ago.

In the past, I have always disliked photographing my customs. It was just a task that needed to be done so that I could show them off. But this was something else, entirely. My daughter thought it was hysterical seeing me lying on my belly in the dirt, trying to get the right shot. I think we'll be sticking with this!

Some of them are 25th heads, but most are PoC. Basically, ALL of my IG's with the standard helmet are going to be painted that way... as soon as I get around to it.

The fact that Iron Anvils don't use parachutes allows them to be dropped from much lower altitudes than conventional paratroops, who need time for a chute to properly deploy. Additionally, they are more easily inserted than helicopter assault troops, because their insertion craft does not need anything remotely resembling a proper landing zone. When you add to this the devastating effect that they have on the morale of an opposing force, the Iron Anvils are truly a force to be reckoned with. Below, Iron Anvils are seen deploying from a Razor Gunship.

Soldiers of Fortune

The prospect of a massive arms deal with the Russian Mafia lures Darklon to Prypyat, an abandoned town near the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in northern Ukraine.

Arriving there, Darklon and his men find themselves ambushed by an elite team of Cobra Mercenaries, led by Major Bludd. Bludd has deployed Firefly, Blackout and Munitia as sniper cover.

The assistant gunners "half-load" their first rounds and at their section leader's command, both mortar crews fire 4 rounds of High Explosive at Cobra troops over 3 kilometers away...

After expending their designated 4 rounds, both gunners signal "rounds complete" to Sgt Humpty, who passes the report by radio to Darklon.

Darklon responds that the fire mission was successful in disrupting the ambush and his men are now holding against the Cobra troops. Sgt Humpty gives the command "displace", letting his crews know to break down the mortars and prepare to move out quickly.

To be honest, I was caught unprepared for shooting urban combat pics. These were thrown together pretty quickly. My kids and I are currently working on some "buildings" that should provide a better backdrop for this series.

In chapter 21 of the HissTank RPG, the Iron Grenadiers go up against the Steel Brigade. Since I don't have any Steel Brigade in my collection, I won't be able to include them in any pics. However, the Iron Anvils are featured characters in the scenario, so I will just focus on them for a bit...
