Aussie Skymate Custom Comp!!

Its finally here! The first aussie skymate showdown custom comp smackdown!

The rules: create a modern skymate custom or re-imagine o-ring style!

The prize: Jumbo breaker heads and roc projectiles!

Winner is by vote so get posting guys!

All tankers are welcome to vote and show off a custom!

Mine is based off of dic cartoon Skymate. His glider is named "boomarang"

Ok I was trying to do a straight modern update keeping fairly close to the original
Scrap Iron head, torso and upper legs, Serpentor lower legs and Viper lower arms
web gear from Scarface 2 pack, bow and arrow backpack from POC Spirit and a scratch built boomerang

Im pretty happy with the finished result and had a great time getting him together and learnt a few things too :D

OK I wanted to modernize him a fair bit but try to keep him recognizable as Skymate. I started out with a 25th Mutt torso as his shirt is the exact color of the ARAH one. I was going to use different arms but once I made his boomerang I thought he better keep the Mutt glove to catch it with. I was going to use the Mutt head as well since he has the mustache but when I was collecting Poc Recondo's hat (which is pure Australian goodness) I noticed that the Recondo head had a bum chin just like the ARAH version so used that instead.I used a pair of 25th Beachhead legs with the Mutt holster to hold his boomerang. I scratch built the boomerang from a piece of scrap styrene, his knife is from SDS, web gear from comic pack Scarface and compound bow and arrows from Poc Shadow Tracker. Enjoy. :)

OK fellas, here is my Skymate.
Let me start by saying that this was my first custom EVER! I agreed to it in the Australian thread while very drunk.
I had a lot of fun making him with my son and developed a new appreciation for customizers and their work!

I went for a 25th style update of the original with a few differences; I couldn't bring myself to paint his helmet pink, and got a bit lazy when it came to the boomerang.

Recipe:
Head: Mutt
Torso: Mutt
Upper Arms: Mutt
Lower Arms: ROC arctic Storm Shadow with knife scarab attached
Hands: 25th Firefly
Upper Legs: 25th Firefly
Lower Legs: ROC rockslide Dusty with arrows attached

SKYMATE re-imagined

An outstanding member of the Australian Special Air Service Regiment, Skymate represents Australia's elite special forces unit of the Australian Army. Normally based at Campbell Barracks in Swanbourne, a suburb of Perth Western Australia, He joins the Joe Team on his second assignment from 3rd Sabre Squadron. His love for silent weapons leads to his side-arm of choice, the trusty compound bow. He HALO jumps deep behind enemy lines on advanced recon missions, equipped with a flashlight, hunting knife, and an UZI sub machine gun decked out with a flash suppressor, extended stock and passive night vision scope.

thanks mate it was the only thing i could find that came close to the og versions with the look of the shoulder straps.

I have to say, I think daiflu has nailed the original look. The two greens are perfect, the visor, the wrist knife, the thigh pouches, the boomerang stowage, the boot arrows. Even the diagonal strap across the chest. only thing missing is the pink hat :)

Not sayin that's my vote, just that is a pretty impressive likeness
