Could Craig O'Connell be the grandson of the Mummy's Rick O'Connell?
With a cool motorcycle?

he could be the grandson of any Joe on his mothers side and simply not have the same name.
but, yes, I'm sure they put that much thought into the backstory of his cameo.

Rock N Roll is "McConnell", not "O'Connell".
Honestly, that doesn't really mean too much. I mean, they've changed plenty of things about the characters so far. I don't think changing RnR's last name is that big of a stretch. Especially if SE is French, Duke and Baroness had a "thing", and CC and Duke were "buds". Just sayin'.

if the name isn't McConnell, O'Connell is as arbitrary as Smith, so making the connection between O'Connell and Rock n Roll is as arbitrary as saying he is playing Claymore. I just don't see the connection here.

Its not confirmed who he is playing. Its just a guess. I still think he should have played ShipWreck.

It's a good point. Still, there is a certain logic here.
I've admitted from the start that it's all speculation.
Just have fun with it.
And yes, Brendan might've made a cool Shipwreck.

I love how they are on the set of the new Mummy movie, and the director is the only one smiling. And that's just because he's allowed to do a different movie. :)

I think assuming He's playing Rock n' Roll is a little too much of a strech based on what we know.
Someone on here predicted last week He would be playing Flint. Now that would suck big time.

i think youre all in a tizzy over nothing....but thats what most of you do when it comes to this movie.
hes prolly bullshitting and trying to get the attention back to his current movie...rather than let the interviewer dwell on a cameo a year from now.
hmm. didnt we see that already from him once already?

The very first post on this subject had two links in it. The second links to a story which contains the following line.
"So I got cast as a Ranking Sergeant who, believe it or not, is the great great-grandson of Rick O'Connell (Fraser's Mummy movies character).
There you go.

I suspect it's just something Fraser's concocted for his own pleasure. When he zooms off the screen on his motorcycle (or whatever), I doubt the other Joes will look after him and say "Isn't he the grandson of that famous explorer who had those dealings with the Mummy?".
We the audience won't pick up on it at all. Again, all this is assuming he isn't aware of the hive-mind nature of the Internet and is just having a joke at our expense - He could be scouring the Joe board having a laugh at the reactions his comments are meriting.

His cameo will prob be one of the better parts of this movie, in the final script I have before they took it off the net when it was leaked it's written as simply "GI JOE SGT" The RAM is the RAM and the sequence is cool. If he is Rock n' Roll they elaborated the character on-the-spot.

P.S the script I have reminds me a lot of Serenity in the way the action and humor is handled as tell as the screen time for an abundance of characters. it's nearly identical in pacing and character division.

He (Frasier) wouldn't make a bad Flint in my opinion.

You didn't hear? Ving Rhames is going to play a black Rock 'n Roll/Roadblock named "Rocknblock" who likes to rap while riffing on the guitar.
He's going to be a Sonic Fighter in the movie...

With Marlon Wayans playing Ripcord, I don't think that's necessarily true. Frasier could be playing Zarana. But we can rest assured, while there were physical changes to her, he would play her true to the heart of her character ;)

Or Junkyard! :)
Brendan Fraser would be a great Flint, He needs to hit the weight room hard before he takes on that Gung Ho role. He (GH)used to bear hug 3 Cobra enemies at once, forget the gun. Not that I would expect anything like that in the live action movie...

I must disagree with Brendan Fraser being apart of this movie in any form! He has no talent what so ever and has taken on some of the lamest parts (George of the Jungle, Dudlee Do Right, etc...) he can not be a Joe in my book. I will give you some of his early roles were alright (Encino Man, School Ties) I am sure he will end up in this but. Gung Ho and Flint he is not!! A green shirt maybe.

Gods and Monsters is one of my favorite movies. But, that has more to do with Ian McKellen's acting and the screenplay.

Is he saying that everybody was sad and depressed during the filming of Mummy 3?

It really isn't a matter of tapping the RSC. It's a matter of writing the best screenplay they could come up with in this case. McKellan, who is my favorite actor, was tapped to play Magneto in the ably-handled Singer X-Men movies. He also played well as Gandalf in LOTR. Patrick Stewart played Xavier in the same series and is just as well accomplished an actor, despite limited American familiarity with his roles outside Capt. Picard. The movie doesn't have to be populated with shit actors just because the screenplay calls for shit roles. McKellen was in that abortion of a movie "Last Action Hero", but he's still a fantastic actor. Just like Ian McDiarmid was tragically used in the SW prequels. Just because the movie is G.I. Joe doesn't mean those involved sholdn't do the best they can. It's the reliance on bad writting that seems to have nailed this coffin. But I haven't seen the movie, so maybe actor like Marlon Waynes and Channing Tatum will work out in this movie. I'm open minded when it comes to this movie. I know it's billed as a summer blockbuster, so I dn't have much hope for it. But The Dark Knight was, as well. But the difference is that there's some consideration of the source material between the two. I don't plan on going to see the Joe movie until after I've gotten an earful from the fans that are going to go and see it on opening night. If I hear positive reviews, then I'll go spend my 10 bucks to see it. I like Joseph Gordon Levitt.
