The World Peacekeepers J-10 was released in the UK in June 2011. This toy is based on the J-10 single-seater, multi-role fighter jet, produced by Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corp. in the People's Republic of China (PRC).
The toy version of the J-10 joins a small, but impressive, group of fixed-wing aircraft in the World Peacekeepers toy line, along with the previously-released SU-27 FLANKER jet, and the F/A-18 Hornet jet.
The set comes with: The J-10, tail fin, pilot, ground staff / marshaller, marshaller's wand and paddle, 4 missiles, 3 bombs, two fuel cans and two cones.

The first thing I noticed as I unwrapped the parcel after it arrived, was how light the overall package was. The contents were secured very well with moulded plastic and twisty-ties.

The instruction sheet is double-sided. One side shows how to work the landing gear and where the missiles/bombs can be fitted:

The other side shows where some of the stickers can be applied:

Side view of the aircraft. Very cool styling, looks great from any angle.

The canopy is nice and clear, and closes quite firmly. Opening the canopy again requires a gentle pull back and lift action.

Cockpit interior. The cockpit is very detailed, with lots of controls on either side of the pilot seat, as well as to the front of the cockpit, behind the control stick. There are no stickers for the controls, however. The pilot can reach the control stick while seated comfortably too:

Canards, situated just behind the cockpit. There is some good detail on the fuselage as well:

Another shot of the fuselage and wing. More panel detail:

Rear view of the J-10. The area around the exhaust and the backs of the wings have burn mark effects painted onto them, which adds a touch of realism to the toy:

Underside. This toy comes fairly close to the number of hard points found on the real J-10, which is fine. It looks pretty full under there. The undercarriage flips out from hidden panels. The wheels roll freely. There was a bit of flashing on the wheels, which made rolling a little bumpy. A little filing smoothed it away.

Also, more burn mark effects at various points on the underside of the aircraft, as well as on the bombs. Subtle and effective paint applications.
The figures:
The Aircraft Marshaller / ground crew-person wears an orange vest, camo uniform underneath the vest, and has a full face mask and ear/headset. This figure also comes with an orange marshalling paddle and a wand. The marshaller has the full range of PTE articulation, 21 points I believe. The neck turns fine, and the figure can hold its accessories fairly easily, although the wand may require squeezing the hand in a bit. I have not seen the marshaller figure in any other PTE set, so it may be a new figure.
The Pilot figure is the same as the pilot figures that come with other aircraft and helicopters in the PTE/WPK range. This pilot has a black uniform with red and silver highlights. It has the full range of articulation except for the neck, which is a single piece with the head and torso, and cannot, therefore, be swivelled. I noticed (albeit after photographing the figure) that the pilot was sealed in the box set with the waist swivelled around back-to-front (see pictured). Just something to look out for.

The plastic used to make this aircraft feels thinner than that on the FLANKER and the Hornet, so it is somewhat lighter than those two aircraft. The undercarriage works fine, but initially felt a little flimsy, and I was worried that it wouldn't balance the plane properly or would collapse when rolled. The wheels are not as chunky as those on the other two planes mentioned. Fortunately, I found no problems with balance and the aircraft is quite stable on a variety of surfaces I have placed it on. Rolling the aircraft was fine; the wheels stayed out and in place.
Summary
The J-10 is a most welcome addition to the World Peacekeepers / PTE line. It looks great, has rolling and retracting wheels, a decent weapon load-out, very good paint apps that look like those on the real life aircraft, and two great figures, including a potential new fig in the marshaller, which adds to the play value and makes this set worth buying. The rather small assortment of accessories is the only let-down, in my view, as I am sure more items, or at least more interesting and useful items (such as a ladder), could have been included. If you already own several PTE items, however, it's probable that you have a wealth of accessories can be used with this aircraft set anyway.
