I actually like the figure but good review.

I was really disappointed. He initially looks good but the lack of articulation, poor paintwork and the fact that he can barely stand frustrated me. The $10 price point is just salt in the wound.

Its a good thing I read your review before purchasing these. Was supposed to get several since I like the design, but as you pointed out, its not swell buy.
Thanks bro!

I agree RE: the articulation, but I have one and I will get another one, just because i want 2 squads of Hydra Troopers with One heavy Weapons Trooper on each team.
The bigger Armored guys don't have to be super-articulated, but these Captain America hip joints suck it!!

No ankle articulation? Really Hasbro? Are you taking your cues from the GL movie line and going backwards?

Some people may like them. I just found the photographing experience left me quite disillusioned, given that it was nigh-on impossible to get him to stand without a base (and he doesn't include one) and even with one, he's still too top-heavy.

I don't mind the Red Skull having less articulation, as he can at least stand pretty well. I just found it very difficult to get the Hydra Soldier to do anything but fall over...

The arm articulation isn't bad but there's no waist or ankle joints. They're not really much of a step-up from the 1970s Star Wars figures...

Seems Hasbro gets really lazy with movie figures. At least the Captn America figs aren't as bad as those Green Lantern Happy meal wanna-be figs!
Easy pass for me. I wasn't that into the Hydra figures anyway.

It's a shame really because the design has so much potential

I like the functional/historical look of the Hydra guys from the movie but this figure just doesn't do it justice.

Agreed. The basic sculpt is pretty solid. It's just let-down by piss-poor articulation and finish.
BTW, thanks for the review!
Thanks for reading!

You guys are aware that all the Deluxe figures are specifically designed with a lesser number of articulation points than the single carded figures right? I certainly agree with the ridiculous price point, lack of stands, and having to dig through a stack of figs to find one with half-decent paint apps, but the articulation is a design feature of the deluxe line, not an oversight.
That's why the Deluxe's have no torso articulation, single jointed knees, no ankle etc and the single carded figures do. Hip design sucks across the board though.
It looks like there is a standard Hydra Trooper in the regular wave 3. I would probably pick that one up and use parts from the Deluxe to make one proper Hydra trooper. I've done this to add wrist-articulation to my Caps & US Agent. My US Agent here: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-joe-customs-finished-projects/126524-us-agent-cap-w-wrist-articulation.html
Problem is the cost per-corrected fig this way is outrageous (7.99 + 12.99?) and since I've acquired the figs I really wanted (regular Cap, US Agent, WW2 Cap & Ultimates Cap) I'm pretty much done with the line. Not to make this a fs post, but if anybody's interested in Cap parachute setups, Fortress assault armor, or the K-mart Cap. Britain or Red Guardian pm me.
That makes absolutely no sense, though. ''Deluxe'' implies ''better'' or ''improved'' yet the figure has articulation poorer than it's ''regular'' cousin.

I agree with Iok on this one. Why not use the wave 3 figure and add the accessories. Would probably justify the price increase.

Good review.
This figure looks good only as fodder.
Dismantle the poor bastard, and throw away the torso and legs. Armor/weapons/arms/head look interesting enough.

Yup, that would make sense, although until they turn-up in the discount aisle, I could find better uses for $10...!

Ah, that's true.
What's worst, they're charging two extra bucks just for two extra missiles, what a rip off!

Saw these the other day and even without your review they were an easy pass. Now thinks to your review they are a definite pass. Thanks for the good review!

the flamethrowers remind me of the crimson guard immortal guns. i might get it just for the weapons for a possible future custom project

They'd probably be good for that, especially if you can find them in the discount aisle. $10+ is a little rich for my tastes.
