View Full Version : im new..
Greetings and Salutations.
New to the board, been lurking around for a few days, but like what I see here.
A friend recently turned me on to the Sigma 6 GI Joe line, something that I never really paid any attention, and I must say I am hooked.
Let me start by saying that I normally do not collect toys per se, nor am I a big fan of the animation style toons. However, upon opening my first Sigma 6 figure (Snake Eye's btw), I was instantly infatuated with them.
Anyways, before I start rambling on here, let me get to the point. I have been noticing a lot of different lingo on the boards here that I have not been able to decipher. For example...what the heck does MSIB stand for? If someone could give me a quick rundown of what the various lingo's are that will be pertinent to my GI Joe fix...I would appreciate it.
Second; where in the world does one find a handful of cheap SKY B.A.T.s ? I am looking for about 2-4 of the little buggers.....just cannot find any around here and e-bay seems to be a little scarce on them. I have Cobra Version of Firefly coming and I have Shipwreck on the way...but my Joe - Cobra Ratio is severely one sided. I am looking for ways to increase my Cobra side. That being said, I am not a collector who has to get every single one that gets released.....for example, I don't want 6 different variations of Duke, etc. I am looking for uniqueness in most of the figures...obviously the androids are exempt from this. So how do I get more Cobra troops? I have the following:
Cobra Commander
Destro
Zartan
Ninja B.A.T.
Storm Shadow
Firefly - in the mail
I know I need the reg B.A.T. so what else can I do?
Joe's outnumber the baddies like 10 to 1. Are customs a good way to go? does anyone really sell customs? are the prices for customs outrageous?
Anyways, some late night blind typing from a old guy who has had his childhood love of "YO JOE" rekindled by a 8" childrens toy.

Welcome to the Tank Kale
To answer a few of your questions: MISB means Mint In Sealed Box.
Regular Sigma 6 B.A.T. are for the most part sold out at retail. I would check evil-bay for the figures you are looking for.
If you can afford $30 a pop you can get LT Stone and use his Cobra Uniform to act as Vipers to Build your Army.
See ya Around

Welcome aboard, Kale! :D
Destro's already given you the breakdown on "MISB", meaning Mint in Sealed Box, of course, but here are a few others, just in case:
MOC - Mint on Card
MIOB - Mint in Open Box
As for the Sky B.A.T.....well, my friend, you're in luck! Just say no to Scalper prices on FeeBay!...Hasbro Toy Shop has'em in stock @ only $9.99! Click on the following link:
http://www.hasbrotoyshop.com/ProductsByCategory.htm?CD=2&BR=520&SBR=328&ST=SO&ID=17214&PG=5
You'll see that Hasbro Toy Shop has quite a few of the "harder to find" figures in stock! :D
Again, welcome! Hope you enjoy yourself here!

What's up guys? I can't say that I'm new here because I do remember signing up to this site a long time ago but I always had trouble getting in so I just gave up. Until just a couple of weeks ago I opened a new account on My Space and someone from here invited me back here. So here I am and hopefully I can meet up with you guys sometime soon.
Some of you might know me from other forums. I'm one of the Moderators Tri~State forums and I'm always willing to help out another Joe member out. I just started customizing ARAH figures and hope to show you guys what I can do. I pretty much collect anything that has G.I.Joe stamped on it. hello i've visited this site a lot and finally decided to join up. To tell a little about myself i've been into joes since i was a kid in the 80's and it's also been the only thing that i've really been into. I'm 27 and married and lucky enough to be married to someone who actually is okay with my collection ,she's helped me track down hard to find figures. I've also started up a talkcast on talkshoe called CODENAME:THE PITT, i haven't seen or heard anything for joe fans so i thought i would start one up i want it to encompass everything that we as fans love and i encourage everyone to stop and listen to my firsty episode on the 17th and i hope to hear from people soon thanks!!

Not sure if this is the right area for this as I'm not real big on "announcing" myself, but I wanted to intro a site to you folks here. The site's called The JoeIndex (http://www.thejoeindex.com/) and if you could take a look and throw any feedback it'd be great. Some of you might already be familiar with it, some might not be, but hopefully, as it grows, it'll help bring some additional exposure to this little hobby of ours.

Hello fellow GI JOE fans. What a great place for people like us, who love GI JOE. GI JOE was a big part of my childhood, and after 25yrs I am still a big fan. I am trying to put my collection back together again. While in college my Mom was cleaning out the attic and one of the casualties was my small Army of Joes. I was bumbed but you can't get mad at Mom. I thought I outgrew GI JOE but when a friend turned me on to Devils Due comics I fell in love all over again. Now I am 32yrs old with 2 small children trying to collect (and locate) old JOES. Any one out there know of a good place to locate Joes other than E bay? condition does not matter, missing weapons or not. Just looking for all my favorites, 1982-1986. I am real excited about the 25th anniversary figures. I have not been able to locate them at local stores as of yet, but I try to check every day.

Well if this helps, target is set to have their gijoes on their displays on august 5th. Thats for their modular reset. In the meantime, TRU and kmart should be getting theirs in any day now, only 1 in my area has done so. Select walmarts with new tf merchandise prominently on display might have the joes, but if not, then they will be there in august. BBTS (bigbadtoystore.com) has vintage vehicles and get more in from time to time, very reliable too.

WZUP hisstank forum! I am new here and am really excited about GI Joe again. I am 27 and no stranger to collecting. Believe it or not, though, I have not bought a Joe (or had one purchased for me) since 1989. Actually that is not 100% true because I picked up the DVD boxset two years ago that had the Snake Eyes figure packed inside. Anyways, I have been a huge Palisades Muppet collector, and I buy a lot of Medicom Kubricks from Japan as well. When I randomly saw the lone Snake Eyes in the old skool packaging on a Kmart shelf last Wednesday my jaw hit the floor!!!!!! Obviously being out of the loop since the demise of Palisades, I was more than shocked. Since then, following a whirlwind tour of every store in my area, and a few pickups online, I have secured doubles (some triples) of every 25th anniversary figure besides the Gold Destro. I can't wait to see what the future holds as I have not been this excited for a toy line since my imagination as a child first ran wild. Bring on the vehicles and toy aisles dedicated to nothing but Joe!
Hello all. I am also a rawhide to the forum, and have really rekindled my love of Joes with the new 25th Figures starting to hit shelves. I'd had a bunch of Joes I had inherited from a cousin snatched away at a moving sale in my youth, and havent paid attention to the series since then. Well, that's changed, since apparently, with the anniversary series out, and transformers in theatres, it looks like the best toys of the mid 80s are back in vogue!

I'm happy to be here.Lifelong fan of the comics, toons, and figures and my interest in collecting has been rejuvenated due to the 25th line. I'm pretty much in the same boat. I got into G.I. Joe in '82 at the age of five, and I grew up loving Larry Hama's run on the Marvel comics. I was never as big a fan of the cartoon, but I watched it, anyway, simply because I loved the characters. I started collecting toys as a serious hobby back in '99, and I have a decent collection of STAR WARS and DC superheroes to show for it. I grabbed the odd Joe stuff here and there, and I've been reading the Devil's Due titles, but the dated look of the classic figures kept me from doing too much with it. As soon as I saw the 25th Anniversary images, I said, "Now that is what I've been wanting." So here I am, a little poorer for it.

I spend most of my time now doing customs and if you have frequented Joecustoms, chances are you have seen some of my work. If anyones interested I posted some link to customs figures and vehicles in the custom section and if anyone would like to see pics of my collection I would be more than happy to share them, just let me know where to post them. This is my first time posting anything, because it is the first time I have had anything really interesting to post. I was in Athens, GA over the weekend and popped into Wal-Mart to see if they had any single carded Joes. Like everywhere else around here (GA/SC) they were bone dry, but they did have several 5 packs of Joe & Cobra. I was looking at them and listeneing to my fiances voice in my head saying "don't buy anymore of these, leave some for the kids, wait for wave 2"! When I noticed that one of the Joe packs was different. The arrangement inside the box is totally different-new slot for file cards at the top, then left to right: Duke holding M-16 in the air and his helmet by his side, then Scarlett, then Gung-Ho diving on the ground, then SE, and above him Roadblock laying down manning his machine gun. I kept searching and found a Cobra 5-pack with a different set up for the figures as well. The outside packaging is the same, but the inside of both is totally different. These are sealed from the factory with different plastic housing for the figures (not just something that had been tampered with and returned). I bought both of them, and have been comparing them to the other 15 or so 5 packs I have picked up so far, and thay are the only two I have seen like this. Does anybody have any idea if this is a new packaging orientation? Thanks, this board is the best place for Joe news!
The Fridge
09-09-2007, 12:04 PM
Also, forgot to mention that in this package all of the figures are standing on their bases, or in the case of the two laying down their bases are right below them, rather than all stacked together in their own slot.
C.I.A.D.
09-09-2007, 03:50 PM
Welcome to the Tank, Fridge!
Yes Sir, you are indeed correct, the 5 packs had a running change and the figures are now being placed in different positions. One of the figures looks as though he's doing something...rather perverted, lol.
Again, welcome aboard! ;)

grabbed a couple when JvC and VvV came out.
took another break until sigma six came out and WOW! awesome. thats what got me on JBL (sigma six central).
now 25th anniversary is out and i am officially NUTS about these figures again! and since sigmas are on hiatus, i guess i am done collecting those so i can focus on 25th.
so far all i have is single pack SE, but both 5 packs are in the mail right now! any day now...
still looking for the rest of the single packs too...
its hard when joes dont really sell in japan.
but i manage, thanks to some friends in america. ;)

Hey ya'll.
I've posted a few messages in other boards, but I figured I ought to actually introduce myself.
I loved GI Joe as a kid. Had incredible amounts of the stuff. All of it still at my parent's house, though thoroughly played with, and I'm not sure in what shape (in attic).
Seeing ads for the 25th Anniversary stuff made me come to start collecting a bit, though my real "collection" is of Lord of the Rings and Marvel Legends, though now I'm adding joes I want when and where I can.
I'm in Northern Virginia, D.C. area, and managed to find all the 25th Anniv stuff on the shelf with relative ease; all the carded figures on a KB shelf when I didn't even know they were out, the 5 packs in my nearest TRU (which is Bailey's Crossroads, if any fellow Northern VAers are here).
I do have a couple of questions and I'm not sure about the appropriate forum to post in, but I'll try here. Actually I suppose it's one question- which is, I'm starting to get some of the DTC stuff off ebay and such, at reasonable prices. Just 4 so far, Spirit, Barrel Roll, Major Bludd, Medi-Viper. I feel a fool for not having bought them on the shelf when I used to see them all the time.
But, to my question; why are Barrel-Roll and Spirit so small? I mean, they seem way out of scale next to anything else; 25th anniversary, VvV, or even my other two DTC figs. I'm sure there's a simple explanation but I just don't know.
Also consider this an "I want DTC figures at good prices" notice.
Also, I'll post anything I find in future in the VA sightings thread, and if there's a MD sightings thread, when I get up there to visit home (Baltimore area) there's a bunch of places I can check. Look forward to chattin' with ya.

Hey man welcome aboard! Barrel Roll and Spirit are based off the "new standard buck" body used in the VVV line. Towards the end, figures were more realistic in proportion compared to earlier waves and themes, such as spytroops and the 2002 relaunch o ring figures. Wave 7 of VVV is the best example, as this wave showed how well the new bodies were becoming, and the good things from that wave carried over to DTC. You've probably noticed how Barrel Roll and Spirit lack the long limbs of Spytroops Nightcreeper and VVV Alley Viper. The newer, smaller, more realistically proportioned figures were made in response to earlier figures with limbs that were too long, and proportions suffering in accordance.

Geeez, the tank's starting to get crowded in here!!
Make way dammit, I need some breathing room... lol
haHa No seriously though! I'm new here too and since hoppin' on board, I've been lurking here and there and finally found this post! So I figured I'd check-in as well... I was directed here after HissTank.com added me as a friend on MySpace a couple of months back.
I've really enjoyed the News and Announcements board area @ the home page of HissTank, It's pretty freakin' awesome and very insightful!! I surely hope to get to know some of you guys here. Just so you guys know, I'm a frequent over at COLLECTORS ANONYMOUS (http://ca.ufafed.org/) and on YOJOE, just not so much for the latter (for preference and personal reasons). You guys definitely have a "kick butt" atmosphere here though and hope to make myself comfy here...

Hey guys,
I've been hanging out here for about a month just reading some of the things you guys had to say and I thought that I would formally introduce myself!
First of all I just want to say how awesome and surprising it is that there are so many out there who feel as passionate as I do about the Joe franchise!
G.I.Joe has always been more than just a toy to me for many reasons. I grew up as a missionary's kid and spent alot of my childhood in countries where English wasn't even the second language. With noone really to talk to or play with, I dove into the world of Joe! My grandparents sent me boxes of recorded episodes of the cartoon and my dad thought it was crazy that I wasn't interested in anything else! We spent most of our time in Japan, Singapore, and Malaysia. I remember going into the toy departments of different retailers and it was like GIJOE heaven!
Eventually my love for the Joe franchise spilled over into my adult life. I enlisted into the Air Force in 1997 and, as corny as it may sound, GIJOE was a big reason for that.
I guess my point in all this rambling is to commend Hasbro for at least trying to breathe some new life into this line!! I have a 7yr old son now and if there are any Hasbro execs out there reading this, know one thing...as long as there are fans like me (and the ones here at the Tank) this line will flourish!! I have passed my Joes down to my son, as I'm sure many have and will continue to do. It's just amazing to be able to connect with him on that level and, if I had the chance, I'd like to thank Hasbro and GIJOE for allowing me to do that!
On that note...YO JOE!!!...and have a nice day!
