Duke Nukem Forever

Playing it. Its dope. Its exactly like the original on steroids. Newbies to the franchise may not get it or may cry a little over outdated graphics, but for those of us who grew up with Duke you will be right at home.

Man... it is getting some brutal reviews though.

Duke Nukem 3D is one of my top five favorite games of all-time. I say from '96-'97 it owned my soul. But the only reason I loved it was because of the Build engine and the map editor that it came with. I bought 2 different Duke Nukem 3D map building books... learned the Build engine inside and out... and IMHO... created the best Duke Nukem 3D map that nobody ever knew about. LOL.

I used to just build epic city maps for me and my cousin; imported my own textures and sprites and everything... and then we used to play deathmatch over the phone line late at night when nobody else would call. LOL. I even played it all the way up until '99, by that time my PC was so fast it could handle even the most complex maps with super high framerates.

But... honestly... I think Duke Nukem's moment has passed...

Oh, DN4 is not going to conquer the world by any means, but the nostalgia is worth it.
The $60 price point is what bothers me... not even the Lego games start off that high. LOL.

I'm painfully disappointed with this game...and I've loved duke all my life. You can tell a lot of the game was made years ago, what with all the vent crawling and shrink tech-see land of the babes-but this game is just...bad. In almost everyway. I think I'll stick with time to kill.

Im still getting loads of fun out of it. When I hear about all the little people not enjoying it, my heart goes out to them. This is an emotional time for you all and I am not without feelings folks.

I'll probably rent this at some point. In all honesty I wasn't expecting it to be anything more than what we got, but hey, closure is closure.

Now let's move on to the next bit of Vapor Ware... VALVE.

The saving grace of the game is all the awesome things you can do when you aren't shooting your gun. Like taking a piss, throwing poop, playing pin ball, having sex, playing pool, and anytime you use steroids its awesome. It lulls for a bit but the last section of he game is sweet. Not as good as classic Duke, and I choose BulletStorm over it. But it's moderately acceptable if you turn your brain off..rent it. But I'm one of the little people who didn't enjoy it... So who really cares about my opinion.
