...that the "Arise Serpentor, Arise" DVD set comes with Sgt Slaughter?
Even if they let the rights to his likeness expire, would it cost that much to get them back?

Now that I think of it, that set would be a nice excuse to make a red-visor varient of the B.A.T. that everyone seems to want, too.

no offense, mate... but i'd prefer that it not include either a Slaughter or a red-visor variant BAT.

Yeah, I'd prefer to see neither of those . . . I'd like to see other classic figures (82-87) that we haven't gotten yet.

I'm not the biggest fan of Slaughter but I'd welcome a 25th version. I think it's in Hasbro's best interest to make it happen, like it or not it'd be huge.

And while I don't love Slaughter a whole lot myself, I think he deserves to be made in this line. I think most would say that he's one of the more iconic and classic characters from the 1986 lineup of figures. I'll buy him up in a heartbeat if he is made in this new modern line.

He's probably the most requested figure or at least one of. I mean anytime they do a Q & A a half dozen websites ask about him.
It will happen eventually, I think that's the general train of thought. But Hasbro is tight lipped and no one knows when it'll happen.

Getting the rights to Sgt Slaughter's likeness might cost Hasbro more than they want to invest. Besides the WWE owning the rights to his likeness, you also have to remember that Jakks Pacific has a long standing contract with the WWE for their actionfigure line.
Now granted, Hasbro was pushing out the WWF toys back in the 80's, but that was a few decades ago. I wouldn't count on Hasbro's old relationship with the WWE counting for much nowadays.
But hell could freeze over. Hasbro (if I'm not mistaken) made the convention exclusive Roddy Piper too, so who knows? :D

I think we will see one. They just did him a few years ago for the Joecon plus the Roddy figure right after that so there must be some sort of good standing between Hasbro and WWE.

What figure would you want to see then? The figures have to be related to the mini-series and I think those two are. Leatherneck and Wet-Suit would also be nice in the set.

I would love to see the sarge, with that being said I don't expect him any time soon. I would like the set to include Dr. Mindbender, Leatherneck, Wet Suit and Monkeywrench.

Yes the convention had a Piper figure that wasn't made by Jakks, but, IIRC, there's a loop hole that basically makes it ok to make something like that for a convention since it's lower than mass retail numbers. I believe this is also how they were able to release Sgt. Slaughter for the convention in 2006
Some of the more prominent characters from the Arise Serpentor Arise episodes that don't already have figures are:
Sgt. Slaughter
Low Light
Sci-Fi
Cross Country
Leatherneck
Wet Suit
Lifeline
Dial Tone
Mainframe
Scrap Iron
Dr. Mindbender
Monkeywrench
Thrasher
Zarana
Zandar
I'm sure the set will have a Serpentor figure, so that leaves 2-3 more figures. Since the bats were pretty heavily used in this series, I'm willing to bet we'll see one of those as well. So now we're down to 1-2 more figures, maybe they'll be from the list above, or maybe they'll be simple repaints of figures we already have
