View Full Version : POC Arctic Threat Rock Viper Review

The last (for me, for the moment, anyway) of the Wave 4 figures to be Reviewed, the Rock Viper isn't really about saving the best until last. Whilst he's a nice update of the 1990 figure and he has some cool accessories, he's a little bland and - worst of all - Hasbro has given little thought to the accessories. It's not so much that they're bad, but rather that he simply can't carry them all.
A solid enough figure but even for an Army Builder, he's lacking that extra little funkiness.

Another solid review. I'm surprised that there were no comments on this. I actually like the Rock Viper. Like you said, strip away the accessories and he's a basic figure but for me, thats a big part of the figure and I think he works well on dio's and is a good fit in with the rest of the POC line.

Thanks.
For me he's good but he just pales beside the likes of the Cobra Trooper and the Steel Brigade trooper. He's just not quite up there with them, you know?

I used mine to make a Desert Hyena MP for my extreme conditions group. Seems more desert attire than arctic.

I love your reviews, but the titles always throw me off. Is the figure listed on the package as arctic threat? Or is that what you refer the figure as based on the scenario on the package?

Cool idea.

I usually refer to them by scenario, which in turn I suppose is a label, simply to differentiate the different Snake Eyes/Duke/Storm Shadow etc figures.
I don't have the artwork handy but I'm fairly sure the back makes reference to it being the ''Arctic Threat'' Rock-Viper.

Cool idea.
I got a pic of that custom
I got a pic of that custom
That would be great to see. That Figures actually does a custom figure showcase feature (when we get submissions) so if you'd be interested in sharing it, I'd be very happy to feature it tomorrow...

In here is my custom it's kinda mundane but it goes w/ the theme.

Based on the pics in your review, the card art on the back refers to it as a mission and not necessarily the design of the figure. I'm not trying to be too critical, just making an observation. At first, I thought this "Arctic Threat Rock Viper" was a variant.

No worries.
I usually use the scenario as part of the title, as that (in my mind) helps to differentiate between the various ''cross-scenario'' figures. With many of them it's fairly obvious their design reflects the scenario (such as the Arctic Threat Destro) but with others it's not so obvious...

I don't mind I got the idea that the Joes had Mutt and Junkyard and Law and Order. Figured the Desert set was originally going to come w/ a Croc Master w/ AVAC head in desert colors it was cancelled and the set ended up w/ 2 Desert CGs. So I figured a desert trooper w/ a Striped Hyena or as its called in Middle Eastern Folklore Kaftar a larger size striped hyena where if its bites a human he becomes a werehyena-which I also got the idea from Cabellas Dnagerous Hunts 2011 it being the big boss at the end of game of course they overexagerrated on size in game whereas these are actually smaller. So I guess this one w/ trooper is a kaftar size one.
