Hey Guys! New to the boards but have been a long time time lurker. I was just wondering if any of you think that Lt. Falcon will get the 25th treatment. I for one hope he does sometime soon as he's one of my favorites. Just curious to see if you guys want him made as well.

But really though, a sigma 6 guy over a classic Joe?

I can think of 50 figures that I want more than Falcon. The movie ruined Falcon for me. I've never liked him and I prolly never will.

Count me in for a Falcon and a Night Force Falcon too. I hope we get one in wave 6.

I'd dig Falcon. But it's prolly not likely.

Enough people seem to want him, maybe he will be released.

They will probably just throw together some parts and make one. They made a Hawk rather simply. He is similar to alot of guys so this should be easy.

Yeah, I think he could be retooled from Duke just as Flint was.

He'll be made over anyone from the DDP verse and more recent things, thats for sure. Why? Its because he is from the "golden" era Hasbro described in their recent q/a. 25th anniversary will most likely encompass the 1982-1995 period of toys and characters. This is the same reason why Hasbro is putting out marvel comic packs before DDP.

it's not the "sigma before a classic" mentality that i was concerned when i made that revelation.
it's just IMO, he would make such a better "toy". weapons, new scuplt, paint, etc.
BUT, it won't happen because it is a "25th" anniversary", thus Lt. Stone has to sit this party out.
....bedtime.

let us all hope that Hasbro would use a different mould. rather than recycle from other figure's mould. HAHAHAHAHA
i mean, c'mon. they're using Snake Eye's mould as a template for other character's body, then attach the head. and it really begins to annoy me.
Falcon or no Falcon, it's fine. i wanna see more of redesign, and not re-use.

I could live without a falcon figure. Never was a big fan of the character in the comic, and as for the movie: MEH!

Yeah, think he'll eventually come out (though not until one of the last waves). Personally I like him but he also seems to have enough of a following to justify him in a later wave or comic pack

I completly agree. But there are only so many ways you can sculpt Fatigues. I definately don't want any more nearly direct clones though.

Wow, I thought there would be more love for Falcon. I admit he was pretty terrible in the movie but his action figure was one of the best in the whole line. I mean at one point he was even supposed to take Duke's role. Oh well, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.

I'd buy a 25th Falcon. Sure he's not in my top 10, but I'd still grab him off the shelf if he came out!

Yeah by that logic Transformers fans should have liked Rodimus Prime ;)

Rodimus has a huge following. Dont know what Fairborne is talking about.
CaptainDinobot
09-08-2007, 04:13 PM
I think what Fairborne meant was that just because they were going to kill Duke and give Falcon his place doesn't mean the fans were going to be happy about it. Just like alot of fans were angry they killed Optimus Prime (which I hope never happens again).
sharke
09-08-2007, 04:38 PM
probably, though even with killing Optimus, Rodimus was able to capture a pretty significant following.....unlike say Wheelie.
why yes I did go with the standard Wheelie slam

This pretty sums up what I meant. While I agree that Rodimus/Hot Rod has his own share of fans for sure, I myself always disliked him because he was basically the cause of Optimus's death and then went on to replace him. I guess it's just because Optimus was my favorite and I'm sure I wasn't the only one to feel this way. It may have been the same with Falcon had he replaced Duke.
Not to say I didn't like Falcon as a figure mind you.

Thats cool. Although not a big fan of Rodimus, I do think he gets way more shit then he deserves.

The movie was monumental, but at the same time a bit strange, considering that the progression in the comics was a bit different.
How many times did OP die in the comics? 3-4? Anyway, I see lots of similarities between Hot-Rod and Falcon, as the "up and coming" leader, and potential heir the commanding position. It failed with Falcon, we never accepted him as that person.
But... As an action figure, he is awesome. Give him a 25th figure for that reason alone, shotgun, beret, flashlight, camo and all. I wouldnt even mind a single bit if it was a simple repaint of Flint, as that was a brilliant figure. Want a drastic change? Give Falcon a gray "city-camo", like the Super-Sonic version.

didn't read the GI Joe comics back in the day but it didn't go down like it did in the movie did it? I know TF comics were vastly different than movie and thought that Joe was same.

As Hasbro has confirmed that we will see more figures in '08, I wouldn't doubt the chance of seeing a Lt. Falcon on the horizon.

I always thought falcon had the misfortune of being equated to hot rod in that he was designed to take over for duke just like hot rod did optimus. When they saw the reaction in the transformers film they wisely changed duke's death to "he's in a coma" and conveniently at the end to "he's out of the coma!" yippee!
I never wanted to like falcon as a character because was basically a flint clone but he was actually redeemed in the marvel series and was one of the few things that kept the 87 line from spiraling completely out of control.
If you think about it the 87 line was where everything really started getting weird? I mean we were taken from the slightly futuristic but still somewhat traditional 86 line to "crazytown" with the likes of big boa, raptor, crystal ball, croc master, psyche out, and of course BF 2000?! The vehicles in 87 were pretty whacky too! even as cool as the mobile comm. center and defiant were, it was kind of a reach. I think if it weren't for keeping things grounded a bit with outback, falcon, tunnel rat, law/order, and chuckles, that the line may very well have imploded from the silliness?!
sorry for the rant there but i've actually been pondering this for some time , lol

I liked how Psyche out came with all those weird antennas and stuff, but then he also had a handgun. That may have been his gimmick. "Hey cobras look at all these weird things!" Cobra: "yeah, that is pretty weird, what-" (Psyche out pulls gun) BLAM! "Psyche!"
lol...

The problem I have with Falcon replacing Duke, is that there are several Joes already that out rank him, and more importantly, haven't committed treason lately. :P
General Hawk and Flint, you know...
I find it works best to just block out the movie and buy/reread as many comics as you can.

I for one just love the green beret design on the classic Falcon character. I wish they'd give him a bit in the DDP comic.

I am on the Falcon bandwagon... If they put a figure out, I would buy it, and probably one or two extras for customizing purposes... I thought the original figure was one of the better sculpts of the ARAH line...

even before the movie came out, Falcon was one of my all time favorite Joes, so I would love a 25th Anniversary figure of him. Also, it's kind of a semantic thing, but Falcon outranked Flint. Lieutenants outrank Warrant Officers.

That'd be my guess... I hope we get a character that isn't the rumored Nemesis Enforcer as his counterpart though.
Falcon was alright, I think a lot of people here just have a thing against Don Johnson.

Wrong. They are both Officers just with a different type of professional level. Warrant Officers are more technical in their specialty meaning they know more about it than the Enlisted or Commissioned Officers in the same specialty. Commissioned Officers are the Command Level Officers in control of the troops. Flint would still slightly outrank Falcon though. Flint is a CW2 which is about the equivalent(pay-wise) to a Captain.

Heh... Now if only they'd had a scene with Falcon driving around in the arctic to the song "In the Air Tonight" after Duke was injured.

Personally I like Falcon. Does it really matter what happened on the cartoon or the comic book? When you are at home you make your own stories.

Yeah, Falcon already outranked Duke anyhoo.
But the 87 figure was awesome. After V2 SE, it was my favorite. The cartoon was never really canon for me so I didn't care how he was portrayed in it. What's the point of having weapon specialists when everyone has Snow Job's laser rifle?
You just know Falcon's sculptor was watching Apocalypse Now right before he created Falcon. I hope the rumors of him being in a comic pack are true. I'll definately buy multiples if the sculpt is good.
