Quinn is a pirate version of my Warden character. The captain is a descendant of a clan of demon slayers. He has taken to the sea to scour the world in search of the demons that landed on the shores of his island home and wiped it out.

He has come to Tortuga with his ship, The Red Lion, in search of a crew and anything that would point him in the right direction to exact his revenge.

When I was going through my fodder I came across this coat from Will Turner from the Zizzle pirates line. I started adapting and making some cuts when I realized the plastic underneath was actually white - which I loved! It reminded me a lot of Tristan's coat in Stardust. So I ran with that, stripped the paint, added Vogel's arms which matched the coat perfectly, added wrist articulation and here's what I came up with.

The Red Lion

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e147/WhiteRanger1984/Non-LOTR%20Customs/Pirates4/The%20Red%20Lion/IMG_2743.jpg

Inherited from his grandfather, the Red Lion is the only thing left of Quinn Tabris' family and home. It's a small ship, but very sturdy and very fast and can be crewed by as few as six men.

This is a repaint of the True Heroes/Chap Mei pirate ship. There was very little paint on this thing to begin with - the deck was black, the body was red, and the masts were light brown. I added a lot of gold accents, painted the lion red, added accents across the deck, painted the ropes and such. The original had plastic sails and cross beams at the bottoms to keep them steady. I took those off and replaced the sails with fabric. It's still a WIP as I still need to paint the cross beams and wheel, but I've been pretty eager to show it off, so here it is.

Looks really Good! But somehow I feel something is missing... A Hat maybe? And the painting on the boat looks great too.

Great work for sure. I really want to add some height to the sails on that Chap Mei ship- to make it more play friendly.

Yes, I like this. The Tristan coat idea rocks. You need to make this pirate ship a lightening-catching airship, though!

Thanks guys!

vince_chua - I definitely thought about some kind of head dressing. Hats didn't really work because he's got short hair. I thought about sculpting a bandana, or maybe even longer lair. I may still, but I like the short hair for now.

bigbawsmcgraw - I'm gonna keep going til I run out of parts and/or ideas! I may take breaks to do some non-pirate customs, but I've got plenty more still planned.

TJ Bang - some of my other customs are currently crewing the Red Lion for Capt. Tabris, but I do have some characters that are specific to the crew of the Red Lion on the way.

milesflex - I made some 6" Stardust customs a couple years ago for Custom Con, but I've definitely wanted to redo them in this scale and may still. And I'd love to do Captain Shakespeare's airship someday!

that's another winner. Perfect parts choices on the Captain. Absolutely perfect.
