Same here, buying 2 of the regular and the one (because I can't buy more) exclusive. They have to make a regular, otherwise there would be nothing exclusive about the exclusive. Know what I mean?

I believe the regular one will be the same price. Also guys, if you buy star wars figs you might have some points saved up. I knocked of $10 off of mine. Heck that covers shipping. My Solo that is coming in a few weeks is only going to cost me $30 due to my points.

06-13-2008, 09:09 AM
The Exclusive version is the one sold directly by Sideshow. The regular edition will be sold by various on-line retailers like BBTS. I don't expect the non-exclusive price to be lower than $115, or $110. I thought these were going to be in the $80 range. This is more expensive than a Star Wars figure and you know the license was a heck of a lot cheaper without Lucasfilm involved.

Also, the exclusive comes with something the regular version of the figure doesn't. In this case it's a different hand to attach to the figure that has a punch dagger molded onto it. Sideshow exclusive versions will always come with something the regular version doesn't.

i agree that the price is steep, BUT there isn't a sideshow star wars figure out with this much detail or this many accessories. check out his head. instead of just doing a paint app the designers covered it in cloth with a separate visor. this is probably the most ambitious sideshow offering to date.

^^ true, and I'd like one too, though it's too rich for me. but this is exactly the reason why we get SO MANY versions of snake eyes in each new line. admit it or not, but we ALL love snake eyes.

If I remember correctly "Hot Toys" worked with sideshow on these. If so the quality will be great! The clips come out of the weapons, the slides work, stocks collapse like real weapons. I have the Hot Toys Aliens figures and they are the nicest figures, the Armor looks like real minature armor. There is a emergency realease on the smart gun that looks like it would really drop the gun off the figure ( I haven't tried because I don't know if i could get it back together) The boots on the figures (jungle boots) have scuff marks and light brown paint on the front like a pair of worn in boots. The price may be high but if hot toys helped it will be a realistic figure ( I wouldn't be surprised if you could pull the pin on the granades and take the handle off, they go into that much detail.)

vadersquest
06-13-2008, 03:39 PM
^thanks! other random question how does the point system work?
The way the point system works is this. If you buy something from the sideshow site you get points for that completed purchase. For example I pre-ordered a star wars figure and used the site, when the item comes in and ships I am rewarded with, lets say, 10 points. Once you accrue enough points you can use them to knock off x amount from a future pre-order or purchase. When I pre-ordered the Han Solo, I used $38 in reward points towards the purchase. When he comes in this figure will cost me around 30 or so bucks. When commander Proj came in I was rewarded with $8 worth of points. I might have confused you folks more so if I did just check out the site for all the details I might have missed. Be warned though. If you use your reward points for a pre-order and then cancell that order, you loose the points.

Knifewerk
06-13-2008, 03:59 PM
non-exlusive version is up with a limit of 2 per customer.

also, this figure is on the new 'prometheus' sideshow body. it will be along the lines of the hot toys style body (i.e. 'higer end') and will be more poseable, etc than their standard 'buck' body that they have been using.

Silent Ninja
06-13-2008, 04:12 PM
Got two of those. These things are selling like hotcakes!! Hey has anyone noticed if the sword (the one with the arishikage insignia ) he's pictured with is coming with the figure. The list of included items only says a ninja to (sword), and when you look at all the pics, he also has a ninja sword.

Yeah, but for a new hand I wasn't expecting, if any, a discounted price.

If it had a new sculpted head or something, then sure.

I will look around other sites for the regular version at a cheaper price, but it is insurance that if anything goes wrong with it, I can always get a replacement from SS directly, so that is why I may stay, unless the cheaper price is significantly lower.

www.bigbadtoystore.com has the regular version up for pre order at $114.99, definitely not worth it to go through them in my opinion, not to mention you will have to wait longer. Plus to make sure you get a minty fresh one, you have to add another $2.00? No thanks.

That has been that way for the star wars figs. No difference in price and sometimes the exclusives were worth it and some not so. I have been lucky enough to have scored 95% of the exclusives from that line.

i mean he looks cool and all but..........

hes just a guy in black pants... and a bunch of ninja weapons...

he looks nothing like the cartoon

I wonder if his mask is removeable?

or is sideshow gonna have a mask like the one from the old HOF line?

where is a black mask under his mask?

I like the original HOF one better..

it was cheaper and prolly more crappy but 6X as colorful :D

spazzy
06-13-2008, 07:53 PM
I think they were doing a mix between comic styles. I mean if they were going to do the cartoon version, where is the old lady dress/wig and hat? and will he be able to break dance? that would be the exclusive version.

I definitely have a couple issues with it, and of course he could always be better, but this is far from a "doll".

Somne info for those of you currious about the figure, this is a pic of the different bodies that sideeshow used. the one on the left is the original, ( read: CRAPPY) ART S Buck body that sideshow has used forever. the one in the middle is the "armored figure" body, just recently revealed. and the one of the Far right is the Prometheus body, which is their new body, and is the one that Snake eyes will be sporting.

One thing moire, if sideshow revisits snake eyes, and does a V1 with his googles ( and trust me, as FAST as this sold, I'm sure they will)
It will likely be a NEW figure, with New clothing, likely the same pants, and different accessories. while they do some rehashing, i think a goggled snake eyes would like have a swat-team esque sweater, and a traditional baclava instead of the skin-tight outfit, and would likely NOT have the swords.

God damn that is one beautiful figure. Thats how 12" should be done. I think it will be worth the $120 but it is pricey, no doubt about that.

It makes me think if Storm Shadow is made, it won't be v1 at first, it will either be the Mike Zeck DDP version or the v2 or Ninja Force, since it gives Sideshow an excuse to load an ton of gear onto the figure. This is a great thing.

On their first release, they have already outdone every 12" Gijoe hasbro made. Excellent rendition of Snake Eyes, and unlike others I don't think this is based on the movie version. I think this one is an combination of different Snake Eyes costumes built all around the iconic v2.

i got the exclusive too. the excl. are usually the same price as the reg versions with ss. the exclusive basically was just something cool for the die hards to get as a bonus from the company. I do think recently they have started charging more for the excl. on their premium statues. i do know the sideshow exclusives usually increase in worth rather quickly.

this figure kicks ass and is the perfect flagship for this line. I could see Storm shadow being v1 and being a lower price than snake eyes.
firefly will be great. pretty much any cobra character will look great from Sideshow. except maybe mindbender and the other shirtless characters.

i am excited about this line and plan on being in it for the long haul. its already in my budget. i collect the dc direct 13" figs as well and this snake eyes is double what i usually pay for them. but completly worth it

You definitely have a chance getting on the wait list!! Trust me, it has worked for me in the past. Basically, when the time comes for Sideshow to charge credit cards, many people either cancel, or the payment doesn't go through for whatever reason. That's when they start going down the wait list.

Congrats on the first post! hehe

I really don't know how the Reward Points work, and admittedly, I was too lazy to find out. It IS a cool accessory, but not needed. That is just me, though. Plus their exclusive is sold out. And it's not guaranteed that you'll get one on the wait list. Especially since there is probably already a huge list for it.

Thanks for the welcome Snow Job. I must say you have good taste as SJ was my first ever Joe and always remained one of my favorites. :) I hear you about the punching dagger, not exactly an iconic weapon of Snake Eyes. I just wasn't sure how familiar you were with SS, their customer service, and Rewards Points. Even if you joined the wait list today you'd be pretty likely to have it convert (if you cared.) And its free to cancel.

No problemo!

And what can you do with Reward Points? Is that some sort of discount given on a future purchase?

Khev
06-25-2008, 10:16 PM
Yep. Your account automatically keeps track of them. You get 1 point for every dollar you spend with Sideshow. Every 20 points gets you a dollar off another purchase. So SE would equate to $6.00 worth of Rewards Points on a future purchase. Most people save them up and then buy figures for 50-100% off.
